Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows how long PIP are taking to make a decision? Just had my assessment there on the 12 of October.

I applied for PIP mid October last year, was assessed at the end of March, and was awarded PIP at the end of April. I actually received my back pay in my bank account a couple of days before I was told I'd been awarded it.

@ohthehorrorthehorror i rang today and got my decision over the phone, decision was made on the 17th which was Friday so hopefully the back dated money will be in this week, but if not even being awarded it is a blessing.

I think you’ve inadvertently created a lucky charm with this thread @Janemcconnell18 !

Within an hour of posting my last comment I got an email advising me of a telephone consultation booked for 6th December!

As said upthread. If you get a negative decision - MR it. You have 28days (although up to 13 months) to do this. If you get turned down at MR. Appeal!!

I work in Welfare Rights for my local council. My job is JUST representing at benefit tribunals, the majority of which are PIP. As a service we are currently on a success rate of 91%. DWP make some appalling decisions.

Check out if your local council has a Welfare Rights Service. If not try Citizens Advice. Local Unemployed Workers Centres are good too.

Don't let the bastards get ya down!

Yay you go! I work in the same area.
Sadly a 6 month wait isn't unusual. Shocking, there was a petition went round recently about it.
Do MR and appeal. Don't let them fill it our for you, use someone like @morningstar15 or cab.
Google "simplified pip" for extra guidance if you have to do it yourself.
Sorry OP, I'd think 6 months and hopefully be pleasantly surprised.

Hi all x I’m literally right at the beginning I posted my forms off last night looks like I’ve got a very long time to wait

caringcarer · 29/11/2022 23:45

Jane that is amazing. I hope you got full amount. You will have the back payments in time for Xmas too. I am still waiting but will update once I hear. I got copy of assessment and assessor recommended 9 for care and 12 for mobility but still waiting for official notification and I'm getting worse. I think I should have got more points for cooking. I can barely move around kitchen or stand to cook but only given 1 point. I can't manage without DH to help me. He strains food for me, he brings me ingredients and equipment. I can't manage without him. I might do MR if only given 9 points. When DH had Covid and in bed for 3 days I had to order takeaway as could not manage on my own. It's depressing, I use a stool but still struggle.

Turn around times have been very quick in my area recently.

HoofWankingSpangleCunt · 02/12/2022 12:30

Fingers still crossed for those of us still waiting.

I know im
being unreasonable in asking this as I’m sure it varies around the country but does anyone have any likely idea on how long it takes after the assessment to get a decision ?

im hoping against hope that my PIP is re-awarded and then a lovely little sun will appear in my account before Christmas. I’m working on a combination of wishful thinking and visualisation of a positive outcome.

My telephone assessment is next Tuesday. My DSis advised me that her telephone assessment took 1 hour 40 minutes!

HoofWankingSpangleCunt · 02/12/2022 12:30

Sum not sun, obviously 🙄

@HoofWankingSpangleCunt, hiya I first put my claim in the 8th of August had my telephone assessment on the 12th of October and got my decision on the 17th of November, roughly 5 weeks for a decision from I did my assessment. It can vary for everyone but if you havwnt had your telephone assessment yet I don't think you will hear back before Xmas if your telephone assessment is next week😭 but you never know sometimes they can be fast it just depends on the decision maker you have and how fast they are at going through the report from the assessment. After you have your assessment give it a few weeks and ring for na update. I hope you get the outcome you deserve. It can be very stressful all the waiting about x

If it helps my telephone assessment was exactly two weeks and one day before I was texted with a decision

caringcarer · 02/12/2022 16:37

I got a text today today I have been awarded PIP. Says I will get letter within 2 weeks explaining decision. Not sure what level has been awarded but I think I will get it backdated from August and paid in time for Xmas.
