Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows how long PIP are taking to make a decision? Just had my assessment there on the 12 of October.

@Janemcconnell18 3weeks today for written report I’m thinking I should call them up see how long they taking.. if someone qualifies or doesn’t do they send text or do we just wait on letter?

Definitely give them a ring and get an update, ask if it's with a decision maker yet or still in the que. I think if you get awarded something they tell you by letter, although if you ring for an update and a decision has been reached they can tell you over the phone x

Hi, was this 3 and a half months after your assessment you got your decision or 3 and a half months altogether from the time you applied to the time you got your decision, if you don't mind me asking

Hi, yes this seems normal to me, I did my assessment on the 12th of October and have still not heard back yet. They seem to be taking ages atm

You will get a text message when pip have received your written report from the assessment.

Don't be afraid to go for mandatory reconsideration and appeal if necessary. Poor decisions are often overturned at tribunal. I had one recently that got 2 points and no payment initially, same at mandatory reconsideration and then higher rate care and mobility at tribunal. Took two years to get there, but they are at least getting a massive back payment.

Thank you for your replies. What a wait! Fingers crossed for all 🤞

Hiya, no nothing for me yet when I rang on Monday the girl told me that it's with a decision maker now but still no decision made yet, and that a decision should be made this week. Its been 4 weeks for me since they received my written assessment and 5 weeks since I did the telephone assessment. The waiting about is what is annoying me lol would just rather know. Hope we all get some good news after the long wait we've had.

Your assessment was done a week ago. It'll take longer than a week for a decision. I claimed in 2016 and it took them 8 weeks .

anoymous · 16/11/2022 17:32

Ok I read another person post on the scope website and his took two weeks exactly for his decision but From what I have ready it’s different time scale for different places

anoymous · 16/11/2022 17:34

True hun xx might wait till Friday and see if I hear anything did u get a txt to say they still not made decision yet as I have not the last one I got was to say they have my report. Altho I did ask for a copy of my report so might even recieve that befote altho I no to not go from that

Haybo26 · 16/11/2022 21:01

Mine was a review. I filled review form in and sent it off in August and it was renewed yesterday.

morningstar15 · 16/11/2022 22:23

As said upthread. If you get a negative decision - MR it. You have 28days (although up to 13 months) to do this. If you get turned down at MR. Appeal!!

I work in Welfare Rights for my local council. My job is JUST representing at benefit tribunals, the majority of which are PIP. As a service we are currently on a success rate of 91%. DWP make some appalling decisions.

Check out if your local council has a Welfare Rights Service. If not try Citizens Advice. Local Unemployed Workers Centres are good too.

Don't let the bastards get ya down!

I sent my review form off in June and haven't heard anything yet! Well, other than a text message in September that said they'll be progressing my review as soon as they can.

Hiya, I had a representative helping me with my form and with my telephone assessment. If I'm not awarded anything I don't think I'll do a Mr or an appeal, as I did an appeal last year for my son ( hes getting assessed for asd, is non verbal and has severe learning disabilities) and he was turned down at the appeal stage, and it was the most dehumanising experience I've ever had. But thank you for your advice 😊
