Thanks Happier!!

Am losing my mind with my assistant over work things. He is struggling to retain information and it would seemingly be quicker for me to do things myself than actually get him to do them. Sigh.

Dm is making chicken korma for dinner. Yummmmmm

Happierwithouthim · 19/10/2020 12:20

Em not the solution though, and possibly what he wants. Is it laziness or memory trouble?

We're wearing masks at work when in other's offices, yet when I go into two colleagues offices they don't put on their masks. That irritates me, we all got the same email!

Do what you think is right regarding visit sea

We’re thinking of going to visit parents/PIL only towards the end of half term, because we have all been in school where cases/contacts are ramping up so to allow any symptoms to show up first. Have to see my parents before Halloween though so the DC don’t tell on me (parents don’t approve of it and I can’t be doing with the lecture). We also have to weight up delaying a visit, again increasing restrictions as both sets of parents live just down the road but in a LA with more cases than us.

Lovemaltesers · 19/10/2020 12:32

Thanks for the new thread x

Wolfcub · 19/10/2020 13:05

Thanks Happier

Happierwithouthim · 19/10/2020 13:44

We're not meant to be visiting any households. My nan was 94, I called with a card & flowers(bought a bigger bunch when it dawned on me that it was her birthday and gave the cheap bunch to my aunt) and social distanced while I was there.

My dm was making enquiries about coming to visit, and I advised her not to. She's having some heart trouble at the moment. I'm working and dc are at school every day, probably not the wisest move.

Happier thank you for the new thread Smile
I love where you live it is beautiful! Smile
We are in lockdown from Friday 6pm in Wales. I think it's a better idea that the tiers tbh, l wouldn't have a clue where l was, using that . The pubs are closed , the shops , the restaurants cept takeaways, supermarkets & pharmacies are open. Non essential shops are all closed Hmm still it has to be done l know, at least the Dc will only lose one more week of school because of half term.

apumpkinaday · 19/10/2020 16:28

Afternoon all, finished online teaching for today, it went quite well. DM and Dgran came over (they’re also self isolating but because they’re my bubble we’ve decided to still see each other but only go to each other’s homes and back) to look after the DC whilst I I taught. I’ve popped dinner in the oven now and just got back from walking the dog. I’m really loving the weather.

Thanks for the thread happier!

Thanks sea! I wish I could have the kids rooms sometimes. Good luck with your busy week! And that school mom sounds very silly!

mrs everyone does seem fed up and busy!. I’d love to join in on the countdown thread, would you mind? I don’t want to jump in if you’d rather I didn’t. I think a lockdown is needed here, I think more people would comply to a strict 2/3 week lockdown than to these tiers which are very confusing.

That’s really frustrating em, is he doing it on purpose?

We aren’t meaning to be visiting other households either, it is getting frustrating now. I miss my family. I’m very lucky I get to be in a bubble with my mom and gran but I miss my dad and my other grandparents, aunts and uncles etc. We’re very close and generally have get togethers once a month but it’s been ages now, I can’t wait for this to be over.

NSD today. One good thing about isolating.

northender · 19/10/2020 16:51

Thanks for the new thread life
Feeling a bit glum here too, no end in sight etc etc.
Went to gym this morning
Have caught up with a few jobs this afternoon. Only Connect and University Challenge tonight, we know how to live!
We're hoping to go to Central America next year, maybe Costa Rica. Would have to do some serious frugaleering to afford it though.

Happierwithouthim · 19/10/2020 16:56

pumpkin I brought dc to see my parents last month because I figured we mightn't be allowed to travel again and sure enough we're not, this weekend coming was supposed to be our next visit up.

Thanks Happier

Sea in Tier 2 aka "high" you are allowed to:

you must not socialise with anybody outside of your household or support bubble in any indoor setting, whether at home or in a public place
you must not socialise in a group of more than 6 outside, including in a garden or other spaces like beaches or parks (other than where specific exemptions apply in law)
from Gov.uk

I am missing my little baby flea.... I saw her matriculation photos on Instagram and I just want to give her a hug and tell her how proud I am.

ememem84 · 19/10/2020 22:13

Re my assistant. I think he might be. In the “if I do it crap maybe I won’t have to do it again” line of thinking. Wrong.

Chicken korma at dms. Yummm

Mrsmadevans · 19/10/2020 22:30

Unescorted ahhh bless you Flowers
Pumpkin have pm'd you Smile
Em that must be so annoying ! Grrr!
North smashing travel plans let's hope, fingers crossed Smile
Happier that's such a shame sorry lovely you must all be so disappointed Flowers

apumpkinaday · 19/10/2020 22:55

Sorry you’re also not feeling the best north I’m rubbish at only connect!. I hope you do manage to get away next year.

happier I wish I’d seen my extended family more before these new restrictions came in. I do miss them.

Bless you unescorted, I’m dreading the uni days already I’ll miss them so much. But it shows you raised a brilliant young woman and you can’t do any better than that!.

Oh them people are very annoying em, my ex was like that. He’d pretend he couldn’t find any of the things on the shopping list so I’d just do it myself next time!.

Thanks mrs!

Taytocrisps · 19/10/2020 23:05

Signing in. As predicted, we've gone to Level 5 for six weeks i.e. the highest level of restrictions. Schools will remain open but that's about it (they'll be closed for a week anyway for mid-term break). Non essential shops have to close and we're restricted to exercising within 5 km of home. Social visits to homes and gardens aren't permitted (this restriction was already in place), but people living on their own can pair with one other household.

My hairdresser phoned me this evening, offering me an appointment for tomorrow or Wednesday. But I'm in the office this week, so I had to turn down her offer.

I was chatting to my sister this evening. She said her priority is buying two new bras in M&S before they close off the clothes section on Wednesday night Smile.

I haven't got very far with my Christmas shopping. I picked up an XBox game for DD after work, but that's all the Santa shopping I've done so far. Luckily I've just one DC to shop for. Everything else will have to be bought online, but I'm going to try and order from Irish shops and websites as much as possible. They'll need the business more than ever this year.

I'd better log off and go to bed. I'll catch up on your news at the weekend.

Mrsmadevans · 19/10/2020 23:24

Aw Tayto that is awful for you all, l saw on the news that it was happening . Wales are in lockdown for 2 weeks but 6 weeks , that is so horrible. I think that is a great idea to support your shops they need it . Hope you are ok Flowers

AdoraBell · 20/10/2020 00:25

NSD.

Thanks for new thread happier

I’ll catch up tomorrow. We’re decorating, easier now that DDs are at Uni. The one in Cardiff is getting a test for Covid tomorrow, then her Uni is going to lockdown on Friday so I’ve booked a supermarket delivery her in case she can’t get enough food before then.

apumpkinaday · 20/10/2020 07:54

Hope you’re okay tayto, I have some family in Ireland and they’re also in 6 week lockdown and are feeling a bit rubbish about it. It’s good that schools are staying open though

Happierwithouthim · 20/10/2020 08:02

I'm one of the fortunate ones in this lockdown. Earlier in the year when dc were off school for months, I had au pair. I no longer do.

This lockdown they can continue going to school, childcare is still operational and I work in construction so nothing is changing for me. I'm glad as I need to stay working until mortgage comes through.

One of the small side effects is last March myself and the only other female at work got spa vouchers and we were going to use them and then lockdown happened, and we'd booked again for end of this month but knew it probably wouldn't happen. Vouchers will hold and it's a first world problem.

Morning everyone 😀
It seems like we are never going to get out of this Covid quagmire but we will. Just have to find the little things that will carry us through it . Hoping for a NSD today have a lovely day everyone 😀

Happierwithouthim · 20/10/2020 08:24

Ex has purchased some things for dc for Christmas. I've picked up a few bits for stockings that's all so far.

I'm an online shopper anyway but I did take to heart what they spoke about supporting local retailers also.

Happierwithouthim · 20/10/2020 08:26

And I'm not a gym bunny but I can definitely appreciate the arguments on keeping them open for the sake of people's mental health.

I can't comprehend how the GAA is continuing though.

mrsmadevans people have learned to realise what's truly important now, family, close friends, not all the spending and being out.
