Hi all! I’ve not much time to post, just a quick one.

Happier what’s GAA?

unescorted I think it’s perfectly clear. It’s DSil that interprets it differently because it suits her . She maintains that it’s fine for tier 2 family to visit tier 1 and mix inside because they’ll be in a tier 1 location at the time. That’s not my interpretation but I think people see what they want to see. It’s their joint decision, with PILs, what they want to do. I just wish PILs would be a bit more careful than they generally are Hmm

North I hope the travel plans come off, Costa Rica is on our list (Dh wants to go birdwatching!). I’ll write back to your lovely pm as soon as a I get the chance, thanks - very helpful! Not much sewing happening this week though.

I have made a GP telephone appointment for this evening. My hair has been a. Bit thin in places since I had dd but the last few days it’s been falling out noticeably more. I washed my hair this morning and huge handfuls have fallen out Sad. Seriously, I’m no oil painting but if I lose my hair to the point that others notice I will become a recluse. I just wouldn’t be myself Sad. I’m a bit stressed by it right now!

Right, need to work. Have a good day all

Happierwithouthim · 20/10/2020 09:14

seacow it's hurling and gaelic football our national games in Ireland.

There were matches at the weekend, they'd to travel in their own cars to the games, but on the field they were sharing the same ball and hugging and clapping hands afterwards!

Sorry to hear that worrying story about your hair, have you been dieting? It is a side effect of very low calorie diets or meal replacements.

ChristmasSeacow · 20/10/2020 09:24

Not dieting for the last few months Happier, so no idea why the hair loss has accelerated. I suspect hormones (I am probably perimenopausal) but I just don’t know what can be done about it.

Thanks for explaining about GAA. It is not a shock to me to find my sporting knowledge is deficient Grin.

Thanks for the thread btw - though am I the only one who thought you were welcoming covid? GrinGrin

Mrsmadevans · 20/10/2020 09:26

Sea l am so sorry your hair is coming out l found it very distressing. I went to the Go and it was an underactive thyroid. I take Levothroxine and my hair is much better now . 💐

Bornlazy · 20/10/2020 10:35

Thanks for the new thread Happier

I'm counting down the days until dh gets paid (next Tuesday) and trying to eek our money out without dipping into savings. It's entirely doable if I don't order a whole load of shite I've seen on HUKD buy too much online. It's been another month of birthdays for me 4 in total with DH being one of them £££££

Sorry for those of you in strict lockdowns it does seem never ending although if it needs to be done then I suppose it's better sooner rather than later.

Sea what a worry about your hair. It could be a lot of things causing it I hope you get to the bottom of it soon. I know your stressing about your hair but are you stressed about other things too? You are always so, so busy I wonder if you are exhausting yourself without fully realising it.

CamdenLurker · 20/10/2020 12:16

Hey guys!

Thanks for the new thread Happier! Sorry to hear you will probably have to cancel the spa trip, things like that keep you going, something to look forward too.

Interesting to hear about your hair Sea, I've also been losing handfuls over the last few months, when I wash it Brush it it's quite shocking how much is coming out. I'm 40 and also thought it was just hormones.

Yesterday was nsd mostly because Waitrose don't let anyone under 60 in before 9am mon-wed and I'm too lazy to walk over to Lidl, today I've spent a tenner in Waitrose and M&S. I just had a look around Beauty Base and had a spray of LouLou perfume, it's taken me right back to when I was 15 and thought it was the height of sophistication, I'm actually considering buying a bottle.

I've done most of my Christmas shopping, or at least it's ordered and I'm waiting for it to be delivered. Although to be honest we only buy for the dc's and my mum.

Happierwithouthim · 20/10/2020 12:38

While we're talking about hairloss. I had to plunge my shower the other morning, it's a wonder there was any water going down the amount of hair I took out of it. Dd uses that shower too and we both have a lot of hair.

Glad I got my hair coloured on Sat! And last time I'd mine done just before lockdown too, just coincidence that time.

Spa trip is no big deal, it was the dinner and few drinks after that I was looking forward to!

That’s a lovely thing to say happier it does really but everything into perspective doesn’t it.

Sorry your hair is coming out sea, I hope you manage to find the cause of it❤️

2nd day of online teaching done, about to go to the woods and then I might order a takeaway tonight because I’m exhausted.

AdoraBell · 20/10/2020 16:51

£28 Christmas present for DH on behalf of DDs.
£5.50 on coffee and cake while waiting for DH.

ememem84 · 20/10/2020 18:57

£34 boots on various essentials.

£12 local “witchy” shop on amber bracelet for Dd. No idea if it will worm but will give it a try. The shop owner also gave me a rose quartz Crystal. Apparently for positivity and peace.

Mrsmadevans · 20/10/2020 20:58

Adorabell what did you get your Dh off your Dds please only l am desperate for ideas not nosy at all Grin
NSD for me yay and about time too!

apumpkinaday · 20/10/2020 21:03

em amber bracelets worked for my DC!

Ordered some clothes today, not finished it all yet because I’m going to get the kids some stuff so I shall be back with my spends

Unescorted · 20/10/2020 21:04

sea that is not good. I lose a lot of hair but have a lot to lose and there has not been an increase since peri. My hair dresser suggested yeast - either Marmite or (my preferred option) Vegemite in my diet. I am not sure it works but I love white toastie toast with lashings of butter and a slathering of vegemite so I am sticking to it.

I am still missing dd - thanks for the kind words. She posted a lovely picture of her latest art work …. she is properly amazing. Even a week at Oxford and it has chunked up a new level. We have been plotting to have the house all ready for Christmas by the time she gets home.... any pointers to where we can get Crimbo decorations. We have been looking out for antique glass baubles but they are so expensive.

Wolfcub · 20/10/2020 21:21

Unescorted a combo of garden centres and little independents for nice ones and then wilkos and Ikea for cheap fillers. Not surprised you are missing her like mad but very glad she is settling in well - you know I'm only over the hill if you need a walk and a distraction

Sea definitely speak to the gp, not surprised you are worrying but you are right that worrying may well be a cause

Em my sil swears by the amber bracelets

Mrsmadevans · 20/10/2020 21:38

Unescorted there are loads of glass baubles on Ebay but l don't know how far back you ant to go Smile
I know how much you are missing her Flowers. l couldn't take my Dd1 to the train station when she went back to Uni l had to stay at home Smile

ememem84 · 20/10/2020 21:42

Glad to hear positive things re amber bracelets. Im hoping they do the trick.

I had a word with the boss today re the assistant. We’re having a word at the beginning of November. Would ordinarily do it sooner but exams so seems unfair to throw this at him too.

Mrsmadevans · 20/10/2020 22:26

Em hope the amber works Smile
Unescorted I can't stop looking at the antique glass baubles on Ebay they are just gorgeous ! Smile

ChristmasSeacow · 20/10/2020 23:19

Lost a post earlier, grr. I don’t think the worry is causing it as I only really started to worry about it today when the penny dropped that it’s suddenly got much worse. Anyway, the GP was very nice and understanding of why it matters (as you have all been - I really appreciate that!) and is sending me for blood tests before bringing me back to discuss. I think it’s suddenly dropping out because I stopped taking the pill Last week (because I unexpectedly ran out, not a deliberate decision) and I read today that can cause it. But it can be quite extensive and I suspect that this, on top of the loss I already had, is going to be bad. It’s worrying not knowing when it will stop. Thankfully i started with a lot of hair (before kids) and the curliness makes it look okay right now but if I tie it back you can see there are proper bald spots at the temples. Hopefully the blood test will offer some options.

I think it’s sweet that you mums miss your student DC so much. I know I’m going to be the same Grin

I’ve wasted a lot of time today on the home
Alarm, which had started chirping at us. We replaced a battery in a sensor and then couldn’t get the cover back on so it’s stuck in ‘tamper’ mode and chirping and shouting at us every 4 hours. Thankfully an engineer eventually talked us through disabling it and is coming tomorrow to fix it properly. I’m in the office so DH will be on the spot for that.

Right, can’t chat, have work to do

apumpkinaday · 20/10/2020 23:31

unescorted it sounds like she’s settling in very well! I go to garden centres for my nice ones and b&m for my fillers.

Good luck with them em they definitely don’t cure but helped a lot with my 2 at least!.

I’ve burnt my tongue today! I had my first hot chocolate of the year and drank it way too quick!. It was worth it though, marshmallows and all! (Pic attached).

£24 on some pyjamas, I got some strictly ones and some Christmas ones!

Hope the bloods give you the answers you need sea💐

apumpkinaday · 20/10/2020 23:42

My very lovely hot chocolate

ChristmasSeacow · 21/10/2020 01:19

Strictly pyjamas? The mind boggles! Grin

Wolfcub · 21/10/2020 07:14

Glad to hear the gp is being proactive Sea also slightly worried at how late at night you are working

Awake since four, tired, cranky, itchy and in pain I'm a very unpleasant collection of dwarves today

Happierwithouthim · 21/10/2020 07:50

wolf that post made me smile, not at your misfortune but your wonderful way of describing it.

I'm not as tired as previous two days. Today is last day of non essential shops opening. I'm not participating in the madness, can't face being unable to social distance and the sales type madness.

I am, however, checking out if I need to get divorce forms signed today or if it can wait until tomorrow when I've early finish from work.

Yesterday was a NSD. Today I'll be buying some milk.

Tomorrow I'm going to see if there's any deals on coal as we're lighting fire more regularly now. Heard of 100kg for €45 on radio but it's quite far away from me so must check locally. I've been paying €12 per bag so that's a significant saving plus it's the bother of getting it!!

OP posts:
lifelongfrugaleer · 21/10/2020 09:05

Haha naughty dwarf description

£101 stockeld park Christmas. Fortune but don't care as will be our last hurrah of belief. I still believe

Happierwithouthim · 21/10/2020 09:34

Found a closer stockists of the coal deal but I don't shop in there because they were sexist towards me when we were building our house, as a result their neighbouring competitors got all our business instead. It was at end of boom so probably no great loss to them but still they lost me for life.

Checked our local facebook page and found a supplier that does Thunder Thursdays, so I'll get 50kg of coal for €30, 5 bags of kindling for €10 and 5 bales of briquettes for €22. That should keep us going for a couple of weeks. And Thurs is the day that suits me for going to town as I finish early so it's all good.
