my dwarf number is 3 today - sleep grumpy and sneezy (i think the swimming at the weekend - a lot of it underwater to make ds laugh has done a number on my sinuses).

thankfully working from home today and tomorrow so the team don't have to deal with me in real life.

today's jobs include laundry, and taking a walk to the shop to buy more milk as we have run out.

cat face hopped on bed at 330am to give me the weather report - she'd been outside and it had been raining. she rubbed her wet face and back all in my face. ick. she's so loving.

pay day today. wahooooo!

Lovemaltesers · 21/10/2020 12:16

I think I’m one of the dwalves too today- is there one called shitty? 😱

Glad the GP is looking into it sea

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 21/10/2020 16:25

Hi all I've been MIA, my dad has a heart attack last week and is still poorly in hospital. He's been put on a list for urgent bypass surgery which apparently will be done in the next couple of weeks 😧

This really has been the worst year of my life so far!

Dd is still struggling so all in all my stress levels are through the roof.

Finances are also rubbish, it's going to have to be a very frugal Christmas.

I've not been keeping up so sorry if I've missed anything. I just saw your worries re hairloss sea and it's good you're getting checked out. Do you take a decent multi vitamin just incase you're deficient in something?

Happierwithouthim · 21/10/2020 17:04

Oh no girlie sorry to hear that, and with all that's going on with your dd too, you've enough on your plate.

We're here if you need support but don't worry one little bit about not keeping up. Flowers

Hi all! 3rd day down, 2 more to go and then a well deserved half term awaits me!. Although we can’t do anything as we’re isolated but I have lots of outdoor and in the house things planned!. We have been to the woods, the rain has been non-stop all day although only a light drizzle but we got our wellies on!. When we have muddy walks I bring a carrier bag with me and then put the wellies on them when we get back so it causes no mess! It’s life changing. I’m also starting to fall in love with my home again now that I’m trapped in it!.

sea I feel like a kid again with my strictly pj’s, I got some wham ones too😂.

Love the dwarf chat😂

Don’t be sorry about not catching up girlie, I’m really sorry to hear about your news. We’re all here for you if you need it💐

Unescorted · 21/10/2020 17:54

girlie just what you don't need.

Sea glad to hear that you are seeing the Dr. It is one of those outward symptoms that could be anything.

happier - I spend a lot of time reminding people that just because I don't have a dick does not automatically make me the minute taker in the meetings. We had one person once call me and a colleague "girls" when he was pitching for a grant of nearly £5million. My colleague explained the zero tolerance policy we have and called the meeting to a close. If we do a deal in the future we will condition it with compulsory diversity awareness training.

I am going to send DH to B&M and Ikea... thanks for the tips. Garden centres around here are more of a plant nursery in a muddy field thing, which is a shame...

Wolfcub · 21/10/2020 18:40

Girlie so sort to hear that you really are having a shocker of a year so far. Bugger keeping up just post for what you need. Sending some very unmumsnetty love and hugs your way

Love hope you are ok too

I added some dwarves to the collection today, angry, frustrated, murderous and over-emotional some of them related to the sexist bullshit flagged by Unescorted. I'm a senior manager not your fucking secretary just because I'm the only one in a group with boobs you wankers.

SnugglySnerd · 21/10/2020 18:43

Found you all! Thanks for the new thread.

My dwarves are fraught, and slightly stressed. I love the idea of naming them.... If I get 6 I can make them all go stand outside.

Girlie sorry to hear about your dad. Take care. 2020 needs to be gone.
Girlie glad the GP understood and is investigating
Unescorted sorry you're missing dd, but glad to hear how well she is doing, so talented.
Better day at work today. Dealt with patients rather than management crap and that's what I love.
Friend's mum passed away on Monday from covid. It is such a brutal virus. She was in a care home with dementia, tested positive on Saturday, temp increased quickly on Monday and she died that evening. They "visited" in the afternoon and just got to look at her through the window. The recovery from all this in terms of mental health is going to be long and tough.

Unescorted · 21/10/2020 20:30

North you are right it is going to take some getting over.

ememem84 · 21/10/2020 20:32

Lovemaltesers · 22/10/2020 00:01

Struggling to sleep tonight 😖, but only one working day left until half term!

apumpkinaday · 22/10/2020 02:55

Can’t sleep, DS has come into my bed after having a nightmare but that has now woke me up and I don’t think I’ll be able to go back to sleep.

They’re from Sainsbury’s mrs! Not too expensive either!. I’m very excited to wear them. Hot chocolate is too good to wait until it cools, I suspect many more burnt tongues over the season but they’ll all be worth it😂.

north that’s so sad for your friend and her DM❤️ you are so right, I’m worried about mental health when this is over.

Hopefully you have managed to get it fixed unescorted and are back with us!

I hope you’ve managed to get some sleep love

In other news, I am applying for DD’s reception school place soon. I’m feeling so emotional about it she still seems too small to me. But also, if it’s okay to ask, what was your criteria for schools?. I’m a teacher and I feel like that’s made me more picky with schools and I can’t think objectively. Any help for what you looked for when picking primary schools would be great!

lifelongfrugaleer · 22/10/2020 06:46

Oh North big hugs to you and your friend.

Hope you got some sleep pumpkin.

Schools. We went with the nearest to us. Which also happens to be good and had been for years.
I considered child care logistics to get then there, ease for us getting them there, where their friends might live, which secondary school they might go to from there.
Luckily I can see the school from my house. The alternative Catholic School was ruled out with the first 3 above

Unescorted · 22/10/2020 07:59

Hassar! Thank you @bornlazy. I was really quite pissed off I managed to hide my little comfort nest.

pumpkin it was the village school. So closeness, otherwise it would have been 2 mils to the next one. If we had a had a choice I would have had a look at the kids and how happy they were to be there. Walk by at dropping off time and break time (having a small in tow makes this less stalkerish) - Are the kids playing together, with the parents stood about holding the bags, when the bell goes do they all rush to line up. I appreciate that during COVID this may be more difficult to work out. I am not sure about the worth of SATs - not the absolute scores which are strongly influenced by the catchment. Value added SATS are more useful.
