£90 topshop on jeans. I need new ones. Tooshop fit me the best. And I panic bought just in case they go under.

But that’s 3 new pairs.

Aso £45 trousers for ds in george. He grew spectacularly and only had 2 pairs of trousers which fit. 😂

The only book I have read set in Jersey is set in Guernsey .... I suspect that is similar to saying Blackburn is in Yorkshire.

Gen sorry to hear that about your brother.

Mrs yes the hug and also the smell of her. She sends me Spotify lists which I can cast to the Bluetooth speaker in her bedroom. I just need to wash mountains of clothes and spray her perfume around; it will be like she is here.

ememem84 · 01/12/2020 20:24

unescorted Guernsey literary abd potato peel pie society?

Have a watch of another mother’s son. I think it’s on Netflix. That’s good.

We have 278 cases now. Wfh until further notice from Monday. Am wfh tomorrow. In office Friday.

I have a horrible feeling lockdown Christmas will happen. But whatever. It’ll still be fun.

Unescorted · 01/12/2020 20:33

How did you guess?

We started wfh some time in late Feb / March because we were selected to see if it was possible prior to full lockdown. We don't look like getting back to the office until at least after Easter. On balance I am hoping that I can wfh more often than not and meet up with my friends for lunch post COVID.

ememem84 · 01/12/2020 22:19

Haha that’s the only book about Guernsey that I know others have read. I’ve not read it myself but heard it’s nice.

I was wfh from March.

Pilates done. Now bed.

Mrsmadevans · 02/12/2020 07:55

ememem84 · 02/12/2020 12:58

wfh today - did the nursery run bought coffee £5.40 for three flat whites (one for free as full loyalty card). and then popped up to a house which is being built by a client of mine. he gave me a tour (one of the coffees was for him). the place is beautiful. modern design, modern fittings. 5 en suite bedrooms, dressing room in the master. 4 car garage, mud room, boot room...pantry is bigger than my current kitchen. the crazy thing is it'll get snapped up by someone when its finished not me

just been to coop and done the food shop for the week. £107. this included two tubs of celebrations one for each of dh's and my work.

ememem84 · 02/12/2020 13:03

we are day 2 into mandatory masks in indoor public spaces. so shops etc. i don't like it but am just getting on with it.

things i have noticed:

  • people are speaking louder - because masks muffle speech
  • places (such as coffee shop this morning, and coop) are quicker at serving. possibly because the general feeling here is that masks are crap so get us in and out as quick as they can.
  • there are so many people not wearing masks properly. i saw three people (all older) wearing masks covering their mouths only. i mean what's the point...
Mrsmadevans · 02/12/2020 13:24

Yes precisely Em 😬😜😷
Going for coffee with my friend soon l am so going to enjoy it 😊

Happierwithouthim · 02/12/2020 16:43

Em the amount of people that don't wear masks correctly is just astounding Angry

tayto it's things like that not sharing a box of chocolates that you wouldn't even think of due to COVID. I've none of that kind of shopping done yet. For teachers/childminder/breakfast club etc, token gift things. My Christmas club at work will pay out next week and I'll have €1225 saved.

love how's things with your dad?
gensola welcome and best of luck with IVF
north I like carrot cake too, my birthday's the end of Feb, looks fab WinkWink
tayto toyshow was just epic! Your night away with family sounds lovely
em that's a lovely idea for babygrows
mrsmad great frugaleering on the slippers Star

I'd €70 in my clothing category in YNAB for ages. Today I got a dare2b email and they'd €10 off €80 and free delivery over €90. I got dc a half zip fleece each, one for myself, and a tshirt, vest and 3/4 running tights also for myself. I've a fleece jacket from them for approx 15 years now and other that a couple of loose stitches on the cuff it's as good as the day I got it. €184 for €81.70. And I seem to live in this type of gear when off work this year so money well spent.

There's €20.20 left in my clothing category and I've my eye on a sequin Christmas jumper Link if anyone wants to see it in Dunnes, and I've €13 of vouchers from them. I'm trying to do click and reserve on it. Have it reserved in one that's about 45 mins away but hoping one of the nearer ones will come good. It's €30 so I'll still have some funds in my clothing category Grin

Just got an email from revive active showing how to spend their reward points, I tried and failed to find out how to do this earlier in the week. Turns out my points are worth €19. I'll use it next time there's an offer on. Got it for €47 on cyber monday, down from €59.95. If I could've used them then, it would've made them half price.

I used a giftcard from last christmas to treat myself to Lancome Idole 50ml with a 10ml purse spray for €70 in black friday sale too.

For anyone in Ireland from 9th to 15th december Cadbury's allow you to send a chocolate bar for free, Secret Santa style to anyone in Ireland. Not sure if people from outside of Ireland can avail and send to an Irish recipient.

I'm not a big advent calendar fan, so a few years ago I got one you can refill and I normally put christmassy ideas into a lot of slots. This year I went all out and got dd a schleich horse club one and ds a lego one. They absolutely adore them and spent well over an hour on the floor last night playing with their stuff last night. I did it because COVID/2020 was such a shit year but I might keep it up.

We wore our matching Leigh Tucker christmas pjs for toy show and they loved that too. Mine and dd's will fit next year, ds's might also. If they do I might get a new set and then we could wear Christmas pjs all December. I've got a pair in with the decorations belonging to myself from last year.

Watched how to be good with money on rte last night and it was a lovely story about a 24 year old in Waterford who had bought a doer upper with compensation from a childhood accident(missed what happened to him but he'd a scar on back of his head) his goals were to have savings, replace his windows with double glazing and to put handles on his kitchen presses as he'd forgotten them when buying his kitchen. By end of the programme, he'd €1827 saved, was studying to change to a higher paid job and the presenter gave him a present of the door handles. He was made up by the gesture!!

Ds wants a schoolbag, I don't necessarily think he needs one(maybe his is too babyish) but I ordered one anyhow, it'll have to be bought in Sept otherwise so got him a bigger one. It was £16.50 on amazon.

Got an amazon refund for cover for dd's tablet
Ordered something for my friend on amazon so she owes me €110, will collect at the weekend.

wolf wow not much furniture left, can you afford to replace what you need to?

Ex spoke to hse dentist and finally has seen the light about dd and her braces. I expect we'll start her off in January. I was going to anyhow and fight him for the money afterwards, but this way I don't have to.

I paid my rent today, it's looking very tight for everything being sorted for house purchase before Christmas Sad but engineers report came through today so hopefully something will happen tomorrow to get things rolling.

Have agreed to buy €20 worth of lines from my neighbour for palliative care draw, she's been great company since we moved to rented house.

Yesterday €15.05 on 4 firelogs, don't usually buy them but need to get more coal and timber so figured they'd bridge the gap, eggs and dc spent some of their pocket money(part of the €15.05)
Bought dd a reflective jacket same as ds's at the weekend €30. She's amassed quite a few jackets this year, seems to be developing into her thing Hmm
€23.38 Dunnes €6.80 on vitamins and balance on groceries
€6.50 local shop on sweets for dc and neighbouring child while out walking on Sat
My €17500 savings(house deposit) earned €1.22 interest Grin

Unescorted · 02/12/2020 18:11

Happier do you think that Irish passport holders in the UK could post one to themselves?

lifelongfrugaleer · 02/12/2020 19:33

Gosh happier what a great catch up

£20 riding as school reopen today £11.80 chipper tea for 4.

ememem84 · 02/12/2020 19:40

Woah happier huge catch up there.

Dsis dropped round some presents. Christmassy snacks (salted caramel pretzels!!) and a tea advent calender.

Ds and Dd knackered tonight after nursery. Fingers crossed for a good sleep. Dd woke at 930 last night. And then not again until 6!

ememem84 · 02/12/2020 19:51

And we’re in semi lockdown. No hospitality or fitness venues are allowed to open for a month. And we have to wfh where possible and wear masks.

SnugglySnerd · 02/12/2020 19:53

Nsd. First one for a while as I've been buying various Christmas things online. I thought yesterday would be one but then had to do an emergency pull-up order on Amazon!

CurlsandCurves · 02/12/2020 20:50

Great catchup @Happierwithouthim loving the Black Friday treat to yourself.

Made a bit of an error on the clothes I got for DS2 for Christmas. Although he’s taller than his brother was at that age, he’s skinnier so the tshirts I got will drown him I think. So they’re going back, others have been ordered and it’s saved me a tenner. Well £20 due to the fact that I now have to give DS1 a tenner less in money. They’ve had the same spent on them.

Aaand finally I start my new job tomorrow! Not nervous at all, it’s a local shop I’ve used for years, everyone’s lovely and I can’t wait to get started and be a part of the local community and get paid for it!

Unescorted · 02/12/2020 22:01

Good Luck Curls I started mine on Monday. Hope yours goes as well.

northender · 02/12/2020 22:44

Think I must have had a mild virus as I slept most of Monday, went back into work yesterday & today which was ok but tired by the end of the day.
Dd had her assessment on Monday, just have to wait for the report now. Mocks seem to be going okay, ds is working really hard on his essay & seems to be doing well with it
We had a cheque in the post today from the endowment we took out with our first mortgage. It's more than we expected at one stage & means we can pay off our remaining CC and a loan and have money left over. It's a lovely bonus but we are very conscious to use it wisely.

lifelongfrugaleer · 03/12/2020 06:37

Good luck curls
Great news about the extra money North.

Need to get pizza for Friday and some more veg from Sainsbury's

SnugglySnerd · 03/12/2020 06:58

Good luck Curls!

Happierwithouthim · 03/12/2020 09:10

unescorted I think the key is they must be delivered to an irish address, how's your new job going?
€2.95 on card & stamp for my dgs's 18th birthday, my ex's gs really.

€42 on Roald Dahl collection for ds for Christmas, he has one or two already but it was cheaper to purchase this way, and I just love a book collection they can keep together. Over the years they've had mr men, little miss, thomas the tank. Dd is getting harry potter.

curls I don't spend much on myself in comparison to my work colleague who never stops but when it comes to end of year I like to treat myself. Best of luck with your new job WineStar
north great to be able to pay off debt and have some left over. Enjoy whatever you do with it.

Today will be spendy - beautican for me/haircut for ds/stock up on fuel for open fire and stove.

Happierwithouthim · 03/12/2020 09:11

I put another €21 towards my electricity bill, it's due week after next so must take a meter reading so that it'll be accurate.

SnugglySnerd · 03/12/2020 16:58

£62 diesel but that's the first time I've filled up since mid-October. Not being able to go anywhere has some advantages!

Another frugal cake made - carrot cake using up various random cupboard items such as a few sultanas, a few walnuts and so on. It is a but chucked together but looks ok. Will sample after tea.

Unescorted · 03/12/2020 20:02

It is going well Happier busy and loads of new stuff.

Speaking of new jobs Curls hope your first day went well.

North hope you are feeling a bit better.

Cake sounds good Snuggly

Em don't get me started on face masks. I rage at the chin slings, ear rings and nasal drip trays.
