Hope the teachers on here get some R&R over half term. You are my unsung heroes at the moment.

Bornlazy · 24/10/2020 17:04

Camden I started to chrochet recently and the wool I bought said on it to use a size 4 hook. I am making a scarf and finding it a bit grim think it's going to take me about 10 years to complete it 😜

Had a frugal win today as noticed that some big bags of Lindor chocolates that I'd bought on Prime Day to put past for Christmas were best before 30/11/20 so phoned them up and they refunded me plus I get to keep the chocolates.

north I meant to say earlier that I am sorry to hear about your friends mum. Life is so uncertain at the moment it's heartbreaking to see what some families have gone through.

Happierwithouthim · 24/10/2020 17:10

for those learning to crochet... I found really helpful.

North second that teacher love.

I have had a run around day today - DM to hospital £3, supermarket £36. Then off to the food bank to pack 31 family week packs to give to the people who look after the kids on fsm in our area. Our MP wanted to come up for a photo op..... earlier this week he voted against fsm vouchers for half term and Christmas. Brass necked or what? We told him that he wasn't really welcome. These new Blue Wall Tories are not bright.

ememem84 · 24/10/2020 18:15

I third the teacher love too. Dsis is a teacher and I know how hard it’s been for her.

Teaching and healthcare. Two sectors I could not work in. Nope. No thanks.

We have a charity here called “caring cooks” who have started doing school meals. They were trialled at three primaries (three of the biggest and most deprived here - one being the one dsis works at). From all accounts the food is ace. This coming from dsis who is v fussy.

Over lockdown they managed to rope in a load of chefs from hotels and got them cooking and delivering meals to families. I believe they’re doing it over half term and also Christmas too. So so good.

Wolfcub · 24/10/2020 18:36

Lots of teacher love here too. And emergency/healthcare worker love

SnugglySnerd · 24/10/2020 18:41

Thanks for the teacher love, we don't often get that! Going to get the dcs to bed and watch Strictly - hooray!

Thanks guys for the crochet advice, size four hook has been ordered along with some yarn, and the YouTube video has been watched and book marked!

ememem84 · 24/10/2020 22:13

Watched strictly with catface. Yay. And a bottle of red wine (shared with dh). It was from coop. And was a Romanian pinot noir. It cost me £5 maybe. Or £4 something. It was one of those bottom shelf wines. I bought it because dh remembered going to a Romanian restaurant here ages ago and having yum wine.

It was delicious. So yummy. And absolutely not what a wine of that price should taste like. I’m going back and buying bottles of the stuff tomorrow

Enhanced flavour of my bowl of wotsits too. 😂

Pumpkin AHH bless you sweetheart you take as long as you need we will all still be here 🤗
Em Catface looks very happy 😀
Isn't it fab when you find a little steal like the red Romanian wine 🤗😀 great stuff ! Talking of Wotsits , has anyone tried the giant ones ? I am wondering if they are really cheesy? I always buy the cheese savours from Mark's but can't ATM of course . Not that l need them ahem 😂
Off to Mums soon have a lovely day everyone 😀

ememem84 · 25/10/2020 07:30

mrs these were the giant ones. So yum!!

Catface enjoyed strictly. She likes tv and cuddles. She especially enjoys when the kiddos have gone to bed and she can have my lap all to her self. she might be my favourite baby because she’s not too demanding and she sleeps

maddenlightfoot · 25/10/2020 08:09

Morning all 👋 - I'm emerging from end of term + house selling craziness. We've had one asking price offer already and still have a few viewings on Monday and Tuesday so hopefully someone else will bid and nudge the final offer a bit higher! Unfortunately we now can't find anything we want to move to 😫. I'm making myself have a break from Rightmove this week as we've made it to the south coast for a family visit/holiday and can't view anything anyway and it's been driving me crazy!

I need to plan some ways to keep half term relatively low cost. I've spent a lot this month, mainly on food and wine (it's the stress!!!!)

Bornlazy · 25/10/2020 10:03

Morning everyone. Wet and windy here think a cosy Sunday of watching TV and maybe some intermittent crocheting is called for.

Mrs I am shocked to the core! Are you not even allowed to go to Marks and Spencer's to buy cheese tasters? That is a step too far 😱
We are bumbling along here in a state of mad crazy restrictions (but not as bad as yours or Ireland's) waiting for the axe to fall. I thought Nicola Sturgeon seemed very chirpy at her daily briefing on Friday even though she had nothing positive to say. Maybe she was relieved that someone else was giving out worse rules than she was for a change.

Madden great news about the house and I hope that the next viewers like it even more. Enjoy your break.

Life I forgot to say, that's a shame your dd has to isolate during her holidays. I do wonder what will happen with the schools. I suspect that many of the children will have asymptomatically had it by now.
A boy in ds2's college class tested positive and they were told that they didn't need to isolate as long as they hadn't been within 2 metres of him for more than 15 mins or 1 metre at all. I was a bit skeptical that none of them appeared to have breached this...

SnugglySnerd · 25/10/2020 15:28

Haha I say the same about our cat Em!

Mrsmadevans · 25/10/2020 16:48

Not allowed to buy anything except the essentials in the supermarket Born , we are not allowed to travel anywhere only local, it's very restrictive here. I popped to B & M yeterday in Brecon and there was a police car at the entrance to the car park the whole time l was there !! There is no Marks anywhere near us so yep no cheese savours! Grin
Madden good luck with the house . Enjoy your stay with your family Smile
Em you know what l need to get now don't you.... l need a Catface and giant Wotsits! Grin

Happierwithouthim · 25/10/2020 17:35

Nsd today
€12 in local shop on milk flour and bolognese sauce. I'll need a cow soon for ds Grin
Got 2.5 litre and will need more tomo Hmm

£58 Sainsbury's but some of that thermal for DD to try and £9 back from D's.
£15 from selling clutter back thought

apumpkinaday · 25/10/2020 18:55

Hi all! I’ve spent today and yesterday resting and being kind to myself. I am struggling saying goodbye to grandad, but I feel better and am focusing on remembering him as the brilliant man he was and being happy I was able to have so many years with him. Thank you for being so kind and not judging me for being on and off the past week or so. I’m back now and hopefully will be okay. I haven’t caught up yet but will catch up from tomorrow. I hope you’re all well.

ememem84 · 25/10/2020 19:03

mrs and a nice red wine!

I bought 6 bottles of red. At £5 each I couldn’t let it just sit there. 🐈

AdoraBell · 25/10/2020 19:30

£3.40 on bread.
