Sneaky thanks for making me tidy the spice cupboard. I had forgotten what a treasure trove was in there. I have put in 2 garam masala mixes. The Kashmiri one you need to add at the beginning and fry it for a couple of minutes and then add turmeric for a minute. The other one just a pinch at the end...put a lid on and turn the heat off. Leave for a couple of minutes. Neither have coriander in so are much stronger than shop bought.

The five spice is cooked so doesn't need pre heating. Everything else is raw so follow the recipe.

I’d bring Doritos. And would make yummy noises about food. And would clean up. And would make your bed up with new sheets which is iron with lavender water.

The last part isn’t meant to be creepy. I’ve just hopped into a freshly made bed. Dm suggested ironing water with lavender. I’ve had to do the “clean sheets wiggle” (ie lie in bed and just wiggle about a bit under the duvet....) dh thinks I’m odd.

SneakyGremlins · 12/01/2019 21:41

Brilliant, thanks Smile

Going to borrow friend's printer for that Mamta's Kitchen site I think, some amazing recipes on there.

Unescorted · 12/01/2019 21:46

Em I have the clean sheets on my lap. I am going to take them up in a mo to do the wriggle.

Random happy thought.... We are gaining 2.5 minutes of light a day. By the end of next week I will get home in the light.

I’ve just eaten black truffle crisps. It’s the closest I’ve come this pregnancy and last to actually throwing up. They are rank. Eugh. Luckily dh likes them. On the promise I’d love them I shoved a handful into my mouth. Bleurgh. Tasted like off feet mould and earth. Eugh.

Unescorted · 12/01/2019 21:53

Pregnancy has nothing to do with their rankness. Musty crisps are rank end of.

Unescorted that pasta sounds good.
It was comfort food central here tonight with chicken curry followed by pineapple upside down pud, yum.
Jam yes we mattress purchased! It's lovely but will be 2-3 weeks until its delivered. While we wait, dh can liaise with sil about the other one....
Christmas ds is doing well, thanks for asking. His eyes are much better now although he is still on antibiotics, hasn't had any more tonsillitis episodes and the chronic fatigue type problems he was left with are getting much better now. We've just encouraged him to stay active with his cricket etc but allowed him to rest when he has needed to, without over indulging him if that makes sense. He's only had one day off college so far, when he slept all day & then was okay again for a while. This time last year was probably his worst spell with the glandular fever and we thought he may have to miss the Tobago trip, so he's come a long way. As I said, cricket is all-consuming, but it has been a real lefeline for him.
No particularly frugal wins today as it's been spendy. £47 groceries, £35 meat from farm shop (will provide at least 32 meal portions), £33 on petrol although petrol was the cheapest it's been in ages, 114p a litre .

ememem84 · 12/01/2019 21:58

Agree. I’m pretty sure they’d be rank when non preggo. But man. I had to make a dash to the loo. Just in case. Sorry. TMI.

But I’ve sorted it now. With a fake gin (seedlip). Took the taste away.

Late sign in

Work was horrible too busy and lots of unexpected problems.

However have been out for dinner with a good friend which was lovely, used a voucher so was also free!! Spent £3 on lunch which I must stop doing.

unescorted I'll come round and appreciate your cooking anytime!! Would love for someone to cook for me every once in a while.

em I keep meaning to ask, now you've moved will you let catface outside?

tayto thank you my lovely they arrived today, dd will be thrilled! !

ememem84 · 12/01/2019 22:11

girlie yes! That’s the plan. I’ve opened the door a few times so she can look out in the garden. She went out two paving slabs the other day then came back in (cold - she’s a wussy). It’s going to take time. But yes. Eventually we’ll be one of those families that lets cat in and out on its whim.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 12/01/2019 22:15

That will make your life so much easier em especially if you can get a catflap! I imagine catface will start wanting to explore a bit more once the weather starts brightening up, most cats love sunbathing!

Unescorted · 12/01/2019 22:18

That is very brave of daycare considering she hid under the sofa for months. Give her a bravery award em

Em my cat only likes to go out when it's warm and dry outside. No point even suggesting it in winter. I just get The Look and he stalks back into the house to take up his spot on the chair by the radiator.

Ds is having a lot of fun turning the light on and off to make dd1's glow in the dark pj's light up! She is playing along by moving every time so he has to spot her. There is much giggling. It's adorable and keeping th both occupied

ChristmasSeacow · 13/01/2019 07:20

MOrning Snuggly.

Disturbed night here - I forgot to turn the socket on for the baby monitor which woke me at 2am, and then DH came in at 3am from the stag do. Then DCs up at 6.15am. Should defo not have stayed up knitting and reading but I was rather enjoying a night alone!

Blueberry pancakes on the go now for breakfast

WreckTangled · 13/01/2019 07:46

I'm about to leave for spinning. Have been awake since 3:30 as dd woke up. He went back to sleep. I did not 😴

lifelongfrugaleer · 13/01/2019 07:50

Morning. DS has early morning dive club try out today 08.00 on a Sunday.
We are going to the Swedish playground too. £1590 by my estimate and that's before the market place.
Need to sort the kitchen for the floor people and get in touch with the fence guy.

Pleased DS is doing so well North.

lifelongfrugaleer · 13/01/2019 07:51

That's tough wreck. Hopefully spinning will give you a boost. Enjoy

Wolfcub · 13/01/2019 08:11

Morning all. Ds has outdoor sports this morning, it is wet and it is windy. I am not amused, must remember to take coffee with me.
Afternoon tea for friends milestone birthday this aft so I reckon £25 for that plus parking.

Thatsnotmybaby · 13/01/2019 08:14

Morning! Another one tired this morning after a rudely interrupted nights sleep by DC Grin. Just putting DD down for a nap now and our bedroom is almost eerily quiet, I suspect DH and DS may both have fallen asleep; if that's the case, I may retire to the couch with my IPad for half an hour!

Spends yesterday:

ememem84 · 13/01/2019 08:20

unescorted yep she’s so brave. I gave her some tuna the other day. She lets ds come so close to her then scampers off. She likes to tease him.

With outside she usually stands half in half out of the door and looks around/smells the air. We’re doing it in baby steps. She’ll love it once she does brave up and go out properly. 🐈🐈😍😍

Have to pay the farm for our holiday today. £500. (£300 for the stay with a £200 refundable damages deposit). So must get that done.

Dh and ds are downstairs. They’re Skyping mil in a bit. I’m staying in bed for a bit. Sleep has been whacked out. Dr suggested I start weaning off my meds by taking one every other day. This is affecting my sleep. 😕😪 but it’ll pass.

WreckTangled · 13/01/2019 08:27

Em I fund the first month after completely stopping my meds tricky but I got through it and it got better. You've got the right mindset which helps

ememem84 · 13/01/2019 08:42

Ffs. I’ve just heard mil say she’s coming over in August. To see new baby.

As things stand at present 4 August is my due date (but the scan in a week could change this - please let me be further along than this!!!).

My issue right now (and I’ve only just heard this) isn’t mil coming over. She wants to see her grandkids and I want them to have a relationship with her. It’s the ooh August is the best month weather wise here so I’ll come then. Despite the fact if things stay as they are I’ll either be late having baby so no fun at all, just popped baby out so no fun at all or three weeks- month in with two kids under two. So no fun.

I can only hope dh can persuade her to come in September. Once we’ve got the hang of things and all the first few weeks out of the way.

I get that she has to book in advance as it’s far and expansive and can’t wait for baby to arrive to book. But mannnn!!

I’m not going to let it stress me out. I’ll soeak to dh and see what he can do. If she insists. I may just be a staunch advocate of bed rest. For the majority of her stay. And get her to help out around the house!
