Have they wreck! Did they enjoy it?
I don't know how I've never seen it before. It was brilliant!

SnugglySnerd · 11/01/2019 19:47

I've been really busy for the last couple of days and I've just caught up. Sorry to read about all the upset. I do hope Lonely, Autumn and Fluffy all return soon. Why has Fluffy disappeared? (Don't worry if that's none of my business).

Flowers for Cag and Girlie.

Pleased you are enjoying the wok Sneaky and it's lovely to see Wreck cat.

I've been busy back at work and with the dcs as usual. I'm missing the Xmas hols! Having a take away tonight to celebrate surviving he first week back at work and to make up for not having it as planned on NYE because dh was poorly with a vomiting bug.

Went out with friends last night but I drove and just had 2 soft drinks so it was a very cheap night. Apart from the and the supermarket shop it's been a no-spend week. Hurrah!

I hope everyone is ok and has a nice weekend and that the thread gets back to normal soon. It's usually such a happy place to be.

MeadowHay · 11/01/2019 19:55

Fluffy has gone too?! What?! Why? Confused Fluffy is like, the actual queen of the frugaleer threads though!

I used our wok for tea tongiht Sneaky you inspired me Grin. I found a recipe on the Quorn website for Quorn pad thai, it was yummy, but it was meant to serve 4 and it barely fed DH and I Confused.

I don't even know what my spends were. I'm finding I'm buying this in the local shops and completely zoning out when they tell me how much it is and paying via contactless credit card like it doesn't matter Confused. This is just a recent phenomenen. But then I do think the things I'm buying are mostly necesseties so I guess that's why I don't really care too much. I just bought some groceries, which was mostly just stuff for tonight's tea, and then a load of sanitary towels, and baby wipes.

Actually on the subject of baby wipes, DD has the worst nappy rash she's ever had atm and it's just getting worse each day, we are using loads and loads of Sudocrem which has worked well in the past but doesn't seem to be this time. Does anyone have different recommendations for a good cream for nappy rash? It's rare that she gets it at all but it looks so sore right now, poor thing.

Lovemaltesers · 11/01/2019 19:58

Metanium in a yellow tube was recommended to me meadow. We mostly used sudocrem. Keep an eye on it though as once DD2 had an infection

WreckTangled · 11/01/2019 19:59

We swear by metanium. It stains things so be careful and have a wipe handy for your fingers but it really is great stuff. When dd was sore from thrush etc the gp prescribed it and it cleared up over night (the soreness, the thrush was obviously treated with something else).

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 11/01/2019 20:03

Fluffy will be back i'm sure and you'll never get rid of me Wink Grin

Well done on the cooking front sneaky looks great!

Well done on a non spend week snuggly Halo not sure i'll ever manage that!! I thought today was a nsd and then the window cleaner turned up Hmm so thats a tenner gone.

Three lovely coins turned up today, thank you very much to which of you lovely folk sent them.

ChristmasSeacow · 11/01/2019 20:07

Yep, metanium here too. You can get it otc but if it looks like it might be infected then go to the Gp as she may have thrush too. Poor little mite.

Well deserved takeaway Snuggy, it’s bloody hard going back to work after the hols for anyone, never mind the mighty juggle of having 3 pre-schoolers.

Spag Bol tonight - DH’s chosen mince dish with what we had in. There’ll be enough to freeze a portion.

I want to buy a book on amazon today but with a Christmas voucher, and I also have a voucher for the yarn I plan to buy later. So I don’t think that counts really, does it? Wink. Can I use just a bit of an amazon voucher or do I have to use it all in one go?

Wolfcub · 11/01/2019 20:08

Meadow we used metanium too with bad nappy rash (ds has dodgy tummy so often had a sore bum)

MissingMo · 11/01/2019 20:08

Hey all, I want to get back into being frugal so I'm jumping back in. DP and I have a credit card that's climbing despite the fact it's only meant to be used for food shopping Hmm
I'm learning to drive still so would be ideal if I could finally pass and won't have to be paying for endless lessons. I think these are my main frugal goals.
I'm going to try and batch cook next week when I have my big meat delivery and Tesco shop coming and I will be meticulous in the meal planning to avoid the takeaways we are so fond of.

ChristmasSeacow · 11/01/2019 20:08

Oh, is it too late to send coins Girlie? Is it forrin ones you are wanting? I am sure we have loads lying around, DH is like that...

SneakyGremlins · 11/01/2019 20:09

I feel like such a grownup! Smile

Meatballs tomorrow night. Don't think I'll ever use a frying pan again! Grin

Wolfcub · 11/01/2019 20:10

Sea yes you upload the voucher to the account and then spend bits until it’s gone

SnugglySnerd · 11/01/2019 20:10

Well we managed to eat most of the poppadoms before ds woke up crying! I think it might be a long night.

I second (or third? Or fourth?) Metanium. Excellent stuff and I love the smell of it but that might just be me!

WreckTangled · 11/01/2019 20:18

Girlie it was me! Sorry for lack of note I was in a rush!

Sneaky yum love meatballs. Your korma looked great. Have you got a big enough freezer to freeze portions for other nights?

SneakyGremlins · 11/01/2019 20:19

I do! It's currently full Grin

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 11/01/2019 20:48

Thank you wreck 😘 I'll pm you seacow

I've just caught up with les mis that was cheerful 😭

lifelongfrugaleer · 11/01/2019 21:03

Thanks for the better photo sneaky. Food looks delicious.

Sea that post made me chuckle when you answer wreck.

YY to the yellow nappy stuff. Might the baby wipes be irritating it. Have you any flannels/water you could use in water for a bit?

No more spend today. Got £4 back from beavers as took my receipt in for paper plates.

Fuel for my car Tomorrow £50.

Unescorted · 11/01/2019 21:31

Arrrrggggghhhh I have lost a post about swimming breathing. Cag practice in bits, first out of the water, then cling to the side and practice breathing without swimming, then slowly swim so you aren't out of breath, then every third stroke so you can breathe both sides, then by opening half a mouth so you can reduce hip wriggle. All the time the rhythm is fast breath in through the mouth, slow and steady out the nose. In when your mouth is out, out when your face is in the water. The aim is to keep air moving through your nose...that way it is impossible for water to get in.

Wolf your freezer has the same sickness symptoms as ours had. Hopefully it is as simple to fix.

Life hopefully you turn a corner soon.

I don't understand how it got so late.

OP posts:
SnugglySnerd · 11/01/2019 21:39

I've never been able to do swimming breathing either. I just plod along with my head out of the water and get a stiff neck!

ememem84 · 11/01/2019 21:51

meadow another fan of metanium here too. The yellow one.

Also if you have any lavender oil pop a few drops of that in dds bath. It helps healing. And might make her sleepy...
could she be teething?

Spends today £25 nails (cheaper than usual as I’ve filled my loyalty card up so get money off). And £2 something in shop on way to car on black bean sauce and prawn crackers. We had left over Christmas pork (from the freezer) and black bean sauce stir fried with veggies and brown rice for dinner. Wok action here too.

Unescorted · 11/01/2019 21:57

I have no idea what worked on nappy rash. I did the top end and he did the bottom. Just before you think I got the easy deal my boobs will never recover.

Hello MissingMo. Good to have to join in.

Looks fab sneaky, really tasty. Decent amount made as well, always a bonus if there’s more than enough.

FULLY appreciate I’m ancient in terms of small kids, so tell me if it’s no longer appropriate but Kamillosan worked well for us. This might not even be a thing anymore so don’t worry if you all wonder what the hell i am blabbering on about.

fluffy - same reason as you can all imagine, I really hope if it all settles down she might come back.

Tried a new Gino DiCampo restaurant tonight, luckily with DH footing the bill. Nice food, good service but over-priced in the extreme and quite loud, which DS didn’t like. This was for DS going back and a very very early birthday meal for me - it’s weeks yet, but to include DS.

Happierwithouthim · 11/01/2019 22:41

Hi everyone girlie also wondering if you'd like more coins?

Ds is up too late & currently having a major meltdown because tv wasn't going his way & I turned it off. Haven't had one of these since before Christmas so I guess that's a big improvement.

Nsd today
I gained a fuse at work though, actifry fuse went last night so I stole one from straighteners. We got a new fridge at work today & I'd to remove old plug from old fridge so that it could be taken away so I took it home with me

Went for a run with a friend I've never run with before.

I can't think what we used for nappy rash

Ate quorn full of beans chilli ready meal tonight for dinner & it was very filling and tasty.

Hope fluffy is just busy

Sneaky enjoy your stir fry, wok and friends company

Just I can't even remember what app I recommended Grin

I collected my prescription goggles yesterday so hopefully I'll get a swim in when dc are with their dad over weekend

northender · 11/01/2019 23:10

Quick post. No spends today. My week off work starts now, woohoo!

Taytocrisps · 11/01/2019 23:43

Crazy few days at work and looks like it was a crazy few days here too. I hope the missing posters come back.

I'll have to get DD a new uniform when pay day rolls around. When she was getting dressed for school on Tuesday, she was complaining that the sleeves of her school jumper are a little short and the trousers felt a little tight.

Girlie I posted those coins on Wednesday so they should arrive next week.

Tired now. I'll catch up on your news tomorrow.
