Who is planning to ditch masks as soon as we are legally allowed?

Is anyone else planning to ditch the masks asap? The only reason I wear one atm is because of the legal mandate and it will go as soon as that's dropped.

If you are staunchly pro-mask then this is probably not the thread for you! I know all the arguments on both side and they have been fully rehearsed on this board for the last 2 years. I am simply interested to gauge how many people also want to ditch masks asap, when the law allows.

It would be fab if we could have a thread on this topic that didn't include the words- selfish, it's no hardship, why wouldn't you?, we're in a pandemic ffs, I wear my mask to protect others etc.... that's lovely, and we already know!

@Whammyyammy

Are they cotton or the blue disposable ones? Would avoid burning the blue ones as they are made of plastic and will make a mess of your fireplace!

Its fabric, and burnt nicely.

worriedatthemoment · 26/01/2022 19:21

@Whammyyammy you realise drs and hospitals will still likely require them and no guarantee they won't come back so keeping mine in a drawer

No, I don't think anyone else has realised that... 🙄

Of course, but it was something I had been looking forward to. doing.

@Whammyyammy

Excellent, I dare say they worked better at providing heat then they did as an infection control method.

Yeah because we worry about a possible requirement

velvet24 · 26/01/2022 22:09

No way must be MAD to ditch them , don't believe the government they are just trying to win favour, wear them its no hardship?

Againstmachine · 26/01/2022 22:10

You just woke up or something and why type mad in capitals.

velvet24 · 26/01/2022 22:11

Because its ludicrous to ditch masks yet, over 100, 000 cases today!

Maybe the cases will go down with no mask mandates.

Do you think they provided heat for the wearer too, or only for others?

Seriously, this is the other side of my aforementioned pre-covid mask wearing argument, I called that out as dickish, I will call this out as dickish too. For some people it is difficult to wear a mask, stop telling them it is no hardship.
velvet24 · 26/01/2022 22:15

But it isnt a hardship, think of doctors and nurses for example, they've always had to wear them?

Nothing is 'disposable' - it's just somebody else's problem.

Your coughing while reading a tablet, but don't have time to react and instead splatter spit over the screen, your wearing a mask and you cough, no spit on the tablet, I apply similar idea to when people talk, may be not as much but still spreading bacterial matter.
2X4B523P · 26/01/2022 22:26

@puppetear

I would imagine they would have provided heat for anyone near enough while being burnt.

@thechip

Cases did fall last time they were no longer mandated.

@stitchmaker85

Indeed, worst of all are the ones that litter the streets and countryside.

This is gaslighting 101 and what makes a lot of people cross. Even if you believe in masks they do have a cost - 'it's no hardship' is the most minimising, twee phrase I've heard in the whole mask debate, and rather surprisingly seems to always come from people so full of self-declared empathy for their fellow man.
Againstmachine · 26/01/2022 22:30

Most pointless comparison going healthcare are different to general life and most haven't had to wear them so what are you talking about.

Whitefire · 26/01/2022 22:42

Well this thread is about to end at the same time as compulsory mask wearing.

Love it! Since it was started prior to the PMQ's announcement last week, I couldn't have predicted such a beautiful ending!
