What does plan B mean for those without vaccines?

So it looks like Plan B announced within the next couple of days, which seems to predominantly mean vaccine passports and wfh.

Everyone in this household is fully vaccinated, but one important person (to us) isn't.

Presumably the passports are to gain entry to certain venues so out of those it's carry on regardless?

Does it matter why they don't have the vaccine or what age they are?

I was wondering the same.

As far as I know, it is a vaccine passport that only allows fully vaccinated to get into a large venue. No option for a negative LFT. I am pretty sure it is things like nightclubs and above (capacitywise).

Anyone feel free to explain it simply though. Had bad news today and don't have the spoons to trawl through a billion articles about it all.

the80sweregreat · 08/12/2021 16:53

There should be passports for those who are medically unable to have the jabs.

PurpleDaisies · 08/12/2021 16:55

Id have thought it will be the same as for the covid pass-if you are too young, can’t be vaccinated for medical reasons or you were vaccinated as part of a trial, you’ll be given an exemption.

Nevertime · 08/12/2021 16:55

Our person is 18 and 3 months. I'm not sure if the old 18 and 4m will still apply now younger people can have the vaccine?

Where has it been announced about Plan B?

PurpleDaisies · 08/12/2021 16:57

Sounds like they should just get on and get vaccinated.

PurpleDaisies · 08/12/2021 16:57

@XenoBitch

Where has it been announced about Plan B?
There’s speculation all over the media.
PurpleDaisies · 08/12/2021 16:58

Press conference at 6pm

It hasn't been announced but the press is all reporting that it's "expected" to be announced, just like they have every other time something changes.

Absolutely they should but this is one of those situations where I really must not have an opinion and must bite my tongue.

At 6pm it’s Chris Whitty, Patrick Vallance and the PM.
Just been posted on twitter.

I am fully vaccinated and boosted. I am buggered if I will download a government app or carry identification papers or discuss my health though. I have told the restaurant that my party of 14 for Christmas lunch will be cancelling if a passport is required.

Derbee · 08/12/2021 17:10

Plan B sounds like vaccine passports for large scale venues/events, and working from home where possible. Being 18 isn’t an excuse, so that family member will have to sit things out if/when they can’t join you in places or on holidays in the future. But I’d guess that’s about it.

Moonopoly · 08/12/2021 17:11

@NutCheeseBag it won’t exactly be the restaurants choice so not sure why you are being snarky about a booking.

The Covid pass did exempt them until 18 and 4 (or 6?) months though

What if the other 13 people don’t want to cancel ?

Nevertime · 08/12/2021 17:16

I also wonder what venues will be covered. If it's nightclubs and concerts, that will just affect them. If it's restaurants and pubs it's going to cause friction. Do we/don't we go without them etc.

Obviously it will be what it will be, but these things cause me such stress

Well it will hardly be their fault.

I assumed it was Covid pass same as it is now? Vaccinated or recent, registered LFT.

Derbee · 08/12/2021 17:18

@Nevertime I get the impression that Plan B is going to be stricter than just Covid passes. And now that under 18s can be vaccinated, over 18s will need to comply.

But we might find out tonight I guess.

Viviennemary · 08/12/2021 17:19

You are either jabbed or not jabbed. Medical exemptions make no difference.

Aishah231 · 08/12/2021 17:20

I won't go anywhere that requires a covid passport. This is a completely unjustified attack on freedom. Even if vacinnes worked to stop you getting it and passing it on (which we all know from experience they don't) it would still be unjustified.

I am due to meet a whole 2 other people in a small pub next week. I can only hope Plan B does not fuck up our plans. I am unvaccinated, but both of them have not had boosters so it will prob affect them too.

They don't make any difference to the risk but surely they won't put restrictions in that people with health conditions can't comply with? That really would be shocking.

The vac passports will probably just be for large events like we have Wales. Wonder if drakeford will add hospitality to them here though. I hope not cause i am having issues uploading my passport. Don't Cre about bug events cause I'm not going to those but for hospitality in general it'd be a pain.

ClawedButler · 08/12/2021 17:22

For most people, this isn't too much of an arseache. It's just having the app and keeping it updated, it's hardly the 12 tasks of Hercules.

The people I feel sorry for are those who can't have the vaccine whether they want it or not. Although those are the people who are severely immunocompromised so it's unlikely they'd want to be going to crowded indoor venues anytime soon anyway.
