Will the Government actually follow through on their threat to sack NHS staff?

I work in a very large city hospital, we are also a specialist trauma centre with Helipad access (just to give you an idea of how large a hospital it is).

I found out yesterday that almost 13% of the medical staff are unvaccinated.

Surely that number of staff can’t just be fired? How do they expect a hospital to function with such a mass exodus whilst already dealing with staff shortages in nearly every department.

It’s very worrying.

5 million out of 8 billion people. The loss of life is terrible but it has to be measured against other factors. In reality only a tiny percentage of people have serious complications or die of Covid.

I think you fail to understand the consequences of an uncontrolled pandemic @doublemonkey Society cannot function with huge numbers of people isolating/unwell/hospitlised/dead or with long term health conditions.

That is the number of deaths with worldwide policies in place to reduce spread.

Why oh why are we almost two years into this with people still denying the seriousness of SARS-COV-2.

Yes I'm aware of his situation it's just awful.

As expected he's been getting a lot of abuse just from telling his story .

However , there are plenty of right minded compassionate people who listen and feel for him and others like him.

He spoke with a lot of dignity and was very fair-minded I thought.

Some of the things he was saying about the people he's met in a similar position were hair-raising. The 12 yr old girl who wasn't counted in the vaccine trial stats because she had such a bad reaction to the first shot she and is now partially paralyzed. WTF? Absolutely shocking.

She (Maddy I believe) wasn't counted in the trial statistics because her reaction wasn't due to the vaccination.

She has conversion disorder (now known as functional neurologic disorder). It is pyschological in nature - not due to the active components of the vaccine.

If people would just read, rather than believing everything they see by known charlatans like John Campbell, there would be far less misinformation floating around on MN @doublemonkey

The reason most people went along with the lockdowns and masks etc was to protect the NHS. In hindsight the NHS was not overwhelmed with Covid patients despite the fear-mongering.

I'm not denying the seriousness of Covid. I'm pointing out that in fact it adversely affects only a very tiny percentage of people and we should now be taking other measures to protect vulnerable people. Locking down and vaccine mandating billions of healthy people is not the way forward.

Re John Campbell: he's making a huge amount of money from youtube know by posting wilder and wilder videos. They are full of misinformation. Many have been discussed here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4371621-Dr-John-Campbell-YouTube-videos-what-happened

Re Maddy - this is what she has been diagnosed with - conversion disorder.

I have no skin in the game either way but your posts are full of inaccuricies which seems harmful.

I'm personally on the fence about mandating vaccination for HCPs but bringing misinformation to justify your aguments helps noone.

Here's the link to the Dr. John Campbell interview again for anyone with an appetite for an alternative view point.

I have watched many of John Campbells videos but not that one. I know of Kyle as I've seen tweets.

What are the claims being made?

leafyygreens · 27/11/2021 21:43

@Againstmachine

*Do you work in a hospital because I sib contract and the NHS chains of contact or scary Not sure what you mean here sorry?*

If you work In NHS many of the staff are most unlean people going , half of them can't flush a toilet or leave toilet paper ove the floor.

You aren't going to prevent contact trust me.

I don't understand? No one is trying to prevent contact?

The thread is about mandating vaccination for HCPs.

Againstmachine · 27/11/2021 21:45

Eh so we dont prevent contact then

That guy is one of the straightest, most conservative guys you could find. He's been making videos since before the first lockdown last year!

If he's making money it's because he has a huge following now. What do you suggest he do? Stop making public service videos because too many people are watching??

The guy deserves a medal.

No, I would sugget he stops making videos full of misinformation.

I mention the money as plenty of posters don't seem to understand why he would be benefitting by posting content popular with COVID deniers et al - it racks up hundreds of thousands of views @doublemonkey

MajesticWhine · 27/11/2021 21:56

In my department the unvaccinated rate is 22%.
We are already understaffed with loads of unfilled vacancies. If we lose more people we will be in a mess. It's a big concern.

You mentioned money to imply he is motivated my monetary gain.

That is patently not the case, but people can very quickly make up their own minds by going to his channel and clicking on any of his videos

www.youtube.com/channel/UCF9IOB2TExg3QIBupFtBDxg

I'm not sure what 'COVID deniers' would get from watching any of his videos (unless they're masochists) because he is one of most conservative people I've heard speaking on the matter.

Yes I said that in my post?

That is patently not the case
Not sure how you can state, he is making thousands per video. Maybe that's not an incentive for him, but it's worth mentioning.

I'm not sure what 'COVID deniers' would get from watching any of his videos (unless they're masochists) because he is one of most conservative people I've heard speaking on the matter.
I said COVID deniers et al. Again, it is irrelevant, as his videos get millions of views. From the comments, you can tell they are from a specific demographic.

And as I said - this is all irrelevant seeing as his videos are full of misinformation. The japan ivermectin one was a particularly low point.

And "spotaneous abortion after vaccination". Such a bloody irresponsible clickbait title considering he relunctantly concludes there is no evidence to suggest vaccination causes micarriage.

doublemonkey · 27/11/2021 22:17

As you seem to be suggesting that people will do things that are morally suspect for money, can you comment on whether a company who will make hunderds of billions from making vaccines might be motivated to fluff some data and discredit some trial participants in order to roll out their product?

Nice attempt at a swerve @doublemonkey

John Campbells videos are full of misinformation. He makes a lot of money from this channel, with the more controversial the video, the more views it gets. These things are both relevant.

can you comment on whether a company who will make hunderds of billions from making vaccines might be motivated to fluff some data and discredit some trial participants in order to roll out their product
Luckily, we don't need to rely of Pfizer/AZ/Moderna. The vaccines have been rolled out to billions of people - real-world data has proven efficacy and safety.

leafyygreens · 27/11/2021 22:21

I think you are demonstrating that you are totally and utterly biased when it comes to discussing coronavirus vaccination though @doublemonkey

I do not think the debate regarding mandating it for HCPs is helped by misinformation.

Hopefully the tide is turning.

Did anyone see consultant cardiologist Dr Aseem Malhotra on GM news? He spoke about his belief that the vaccines are causing severe cardiac damage, and said this needs urgent investigation. He appealed for an end to vaccine mandates.

Dr Malhotra appealed to his colleagues who are convinced of vaccine damage but are afraid to speak out to ‘look in the mirror’. His view is that the silent doctors are on the wrong side of history, and that the public will not forgive them for their silence.
