Just booked my booster. So easy to do, feel happy about that!

BigWoollyJumpers · 22/11/2021 10:33

@MarshaBradyo

Just booked my booster. So easy to do, feel happy about that!
I want my booster. South West Surrey is so shit. Very, very few NHS vax centres, no walk-ins, not yet called by GP service, (who only have one centre and are serving all of SW Surrey!), and I am 56 Sad.

I am tempted to pop into London, DD (24), says if she was eligible she has a choice of 5 centres within walking distance! A hospital, her GP, and three pop ups.

Saisong · 22/11/2021 11:11

@BigWoollyJumpers are you close to the Hampshire border? Fleet has a walk in centre that is not on the national booking system. You can attend as long as your 6 months has passed.

MarshaBradyo · 22/11/2021 11:29

Oh BigWoolly that is frustrating. Yes I’m in London like your dd and had a list of places nearby, free at 6 months

Maybe if you fancy a visit do that

MsWarrensProfession · 22/11/2021 12:09

Following on from the "vaccinated working age adults are more likely to contract Covid" debacle from PHE, we have another statistical own goal from the ONS, as detailed by the Covid Actuaries Group.

According to the ONS vaccinated people age 10-59 are much more likely to die than unvaccinated people. Why this might be is left as an exercise for the reader (or read the link).
covidactuaries.org/2021/11/22/simpsons-paradox-and-vaccines/

Mindymomo · 22/11/2021 12:38

@BigWoollyJumpers. I had my booster at Sandown Park racecourse, they are doing walk ins today and tomorrow 11 till 3 or United Reform Church in Woking. Don’t know if these are near you in Surrey.

Piggywaspushed · 22/11/2021 15:23

It seems ridiculous that ONS did not spot this themselves mrsw!!

Multiple times issues have been raised about their, at times, misleading use of data to do with age bands, the way they list occupations, they way they interpret their own data...

Remind me what the S stands for again...

borntobequiet · 22/11/2021 16:21

Add to that terrible survey designs.

lonelyplanet · 22/11/2021 17:51

Really interesting graphs boys, thank you.

sirfredfredgeorge · 22/11/2021 17:59

However East Devon and Lewes (both celebrate bonfire night in a big way) dont seem to have the same rise

Maybe it's to do with attitude to risk and past infection here, I imagine anyone who is willing to go to the tar barrels or Lewes displays is willing to engage in highly risky behaviour so are more likely to be infected.

Watching a stone get upturned seems a little bit safer than the others.

I know I'm quite relaxed about my covid risk, but I wouldn't be visiting the otherwise very pleasant village of Ottery on tar barrels night!

MarshaBradyo · 23/11/2021 07:46

Good to hear about AZ labs in Cambridge but also interesting from Soriot on T cell response wrt AZ - no evidence at this point though

sirfredfredgeorge · 23/11/2021 16:21

Higher increase week on week than the last couple of days.

HOWEVER, in England, zero LFD confirmations in the last 2 days, and only 70 from 3 days ago, the PCR only daily numbers are also higher than normally implied which suggests to me that PCR's are not being matched to LFD's so we have some double counting in the last 3 days.

Of course it could be a different problem, and the PCR confirmations are just completely missing but either way the figures for the last couple of days need to be looked at with a bit of a questioning eye.

PositivePosie · 23/11/2021 16:44

I'm in the south and several primary schools near me are being hit pretty hard.

Staff are struggling with advice from the new PHE: one school was told to close their y1 class today due to 25% off with covid or symptoms, while another school with 50% off in reception, are still open. Makes no sense!

Another issue is staff with a several positive LFTs but a negative PCR are being told to return to work!

Is there any news on what is happening with the testing labs and false negatives?

wintertravel1980 · 23/11/2021 16:48

A very interesting observation re: PCR/LFT numbers, sirfred. I agree the numbers for the past 3 days look strange.

amicissimma · 23/11/2021 16:51

What on earth's going on at the Lizard? I thought if there was one place that would have a respite in November that would be it.

Piggywaspushed · 23/11/2021 17:17

23 members of staff off at my school yesterday...
