This is the DATA thread.

Our preference is for factual, data driven and analytical contributions.

Please try to keep discussion focused on these.

The links below cover a range of data sources. Ideas for additions or deletions always welcome. PHE probably should be referenced at UKHSA.

Really interesting, thank you boys.

Wakemeuuuup · 10/11/2021 22:10

Thank you so much @boys3 for these charts. You always put so much work in to keep us all updated

I've been watching the variant AY.4.2, which is increasing very slowly across England. Currently 12.5%. A few areas are much higher (Torridge 49.2%) but I'm not sure it links to area rises. Has anyone spotted any patterns?

It's really good news that it's dropping in so many places.

Strangely, I've heard of more cases the last few days than any time during the pandemic - not all in one region though!

mrshoho · 10/11/2021 22:52

Talking of variants...

www.theguardian.com/world/2021/nov/10/israel-to-hold-worlds-first-drill-to-test-readiness-for-new-covid-variant

This unsettles me a little. I suppose it's just sensible planning for a possible scenario but still!

😲 that is seriously creepy

The UK did one in 2016.

Piggywaspushed · 11/11/2021 06:55

Thanks for the tables. I had no idea my school is in such a high area! You would never know it from messages sent out and people's behaviour ; it's a very head in the sand area...which may go some way towards explaining it...

Verite1 · 11/11/2021 12:17

It is odd. I’m in a very low rate area (London) where rates are coming down but I also know more people with or who have just had Covid than ever before. I don’t know if it is because although rates are lower, they are now in a different demographic perhaps?

PussyCatEatingPigsInBlankets · 11/11/2021 13:02

Piggy when we were in the top 25 a few weeks back, you wouldn't have guessed it either...I felt quite alone in the supermarket being the only one wearing a blinkin' steamed-up mask! despite the massive signs at the entrance to the carpark, and on the main road warning people of our plague ridden status
Also, jab update, my arm/armpit is sore but other than that a pfizer booster following 2xAZ seems to be ok. I did wonder if it would provoke a bigger response, but no. DH hasn't even got a sore arm. 🤦‍♀️

PussyCatEatingPigsInBlankets · 11/11/2021 16:08

42,408 cases and 195 deaths today.

It's not going down much is it?

AlecTrevelyan006 · 11/11/2021 16:25

But it’s not increasing either

MarshaBradyo · 11/11/2021 16:26

Hospitalisation one to watch

I think still going down?

Yes I know re lag but still age group is important

julieca · 11/11/2021 16:30

Looks to me like it is slowly climbing again.

weddingdramagreat · 11/11/2021 16:55

How up is it on last week? Worrying.

UmbilicusProfundus · 11/11/2021 17:01

It’s up about 5000 cases from last Thursday.

Just Google UK Covid Dashboard - it’s easy to find the data.

weddingdramagreat · 11/11/2021 17:03

@UmbilicusProfundus that's not reported at that time though - it changed retrospectively! Thank you though

ThereIsAGreenHillFarAway · 11/11/2021 17:10

Bonfire Night/Diwali celebrations spike maybe?

julieca · 11/11/2021 17:12

I think its just kids back to school and more socialising inside.

borntobequiet · 11/11/2021 17:24

Of course those not interested in fireworks might have caught the Bond film last weekend if they’d missed it previously.

lonelyplanet · 11/11/2021 17:44

Is Bond contagious?? Shock

My favourite is Thunderball...for the Vulcan.

Regulus · 11/11/2021 18:01

I wouldn't underestimate the avoidance of testing when something fun is happening (ie half term) compared to the desire for ten days at home once school returns.
