@godmum56

also even according to the Mail article, plan C is not a thing "There were suggestions last night that ministers are considering a 'Plan C' if all else fails. But Mr Javid has denied the rumours, and said officials are not planninhg to introduce guidance that would ban mixing between households in an echo of the tier system last winter."
Boris denied that we would not be able to see family at Christmas. He denied a lot of things actually. A denial was almost a signal that it would be happening.

They are complete charlatans and as literally nothing happens when they're caught out lying, they can lie all they want.

Lostinacloud · 21/10/2021 09:19

The first response to this OP is the very reason this story has been purposefully planted in mainstream media.

It’s supposed to generate threads like this across social media where all of us are discussing whether we will comply or not or lots of us are using these online spaces to express very negative feelings about such an idea. Many will be asking why the government always lets it get to crisis mode before acting and pleading for some kind of measures to be implemented now.

This narrative will run for a while as public stress builds and then we will all be offered plan B - a seemingly lesser plan that doesn’t involve household meeting restrictions or school/business closures.

HOWEVER, plan B does include the vaccine passport and this is what they want to put in. As they have tried a few times to float the idea and it’s not been popular, this is now the only way for it to be accepted - I.e. where it appears to be the least damaging option and at a point where we are being bombarded with stories of ambulance queues and no hospital beds and some of us are begging for them to take action.

It makes me sick it’s so orchestrated and I don’t know if anything can be done to stop this horrific train to loss of freedom land anymore.

Incidentally, France have just voted to extend the covid passport past it’s intended end date of November 15th so that it’s now in place until at least July 22. Oh and they have also passed a law at the same time making it necessary for parents to disclose if their teen has been vaccinated or not to the school board so that the information can be passed to the government health agency. If there is a positive case in a class, vaccinated children can stay at school and unvaccinated children have to home school for 7 days. Welcome to medical privacy and choice! Coming to an island near you soon.

Kylereese · 21/10/2021 09:19

I won’t be complying. I had my jab in good faith, we were promised it was the route out of this. Lockdown the unvaccinated (by choice - obs if you can’t have it then fine)

Claudethecat · 21/10/2021 09:19

@mydogisthebest I am so sorry. That is horrendous.Flowers

BuckEmOrf · 21/10/2021 09:19

@Onlinedilema

I'd like to know how many seriously ill people in hospital with covid have been double jabbed.
They presented the stats at the press conference.
Thewiseoneincognito · 21/10/2021 09:20

@WrapAroundYourDreams

It’s almost laughable to think some people actually believe we would be fine without social distancing and face masks during the winter months.

It's almost laughable to think some people actually believe that the majority of people would comply with not seeing friends/family in the event of yet another lockdown.

They can close pubs again. Good luck with policing what people choose to do in their own homes though.

And this attitude is exactly why we will still be in this situation every winter going forward until there is an absolute cure. Too many of our fellow Brits are incapable of understanding the basic principles of Covid even now after 19 months of lockdowns, restrictions and advice.

The ONLY way to get through to these people would be to let things get as bad as they possibly can so they can experience just what happens if we all did nothing. Thankfully our government are not suicidal mass murderers and instead we’ll limp through winter only to do the same again next year.

Dancerinthedark01 · 21/10/2021 09:21

I’m not interested anymore. I’m carrying on as I normally would. No masks. No nothing.

SickAndTiredAgain · 21/10/2021 09:22

But will I be able to have my child’s godmother round for Christmas to help me with childcare?

That depends. I think that was a very specific rule only applicable to residents of Downing Street.

That is a bit of an over reaction to the possibility of vaccine passports for nightclubs etc. We have vaccine passports here in Wales, no one seems to be hugely bothered. Same in Scotland I think.

fromdownwest · 21/10/2021 09:24

@Thewiseoneincognito - The attitude I find astonishing is to literally bring the country to it's knees, destroy small businesses, remove peoples abilty to earn to pay for food and rent, for an illness that although dangerous, is no where near as fatal as it is being treated as. The survival rates are very good for most people.
Why did we not lock down in when Flu was killing 30,000 a year.

Sorry, but I took the precautions seriously when we did not know what we are dealing with, now we do, I am willing to take my chances with a near nil death rate as an overall %.

If you want to remain locked up in your home, then crack on.

MarshaBradyo · 21/10/2021 09:25

The media will be dire over next few months. As will the reaction on SM

Not sure how to mitigate that other than to say seek balanced scientific views (not Twitter)

I’ll recommend Pollard to start with, then forget DM headlines.

Runaway1 · 21/10/2021 09:25

I'm not complying. They allow massive transmission with no masks, no social distancing in theatres, fail to stop covid transmission in hospitals,etc when cases are clearly proliferating. Then they think they can tell me not to see my Mum, stop kids from going to school, take away the contact with family and friends that makes life worth living. They can bugger off.

And yes, this is how we know it's coming - the unnamed source in the Mail. I'm sick of it.

Lostinacloud · 21/10/2021 09:26

@Kylereese - that’s exactly what a vaccine passport does and you have now been convinced that’s somehow acceptable!
The unvaccinated are not huge in number and are not the only people in society responsible for covid spread or deaths. In fact most of the people I know who wanted to wait longer before being vaccinated are trying to conceive or young males worried about the vaccine side effects proving higher than their personal risk of covid. The others I know have had natural covid and therefore have natural immunity and are highly likely never to be ill from it again or be able to spread it. All of these demon graphics are highly unlikely to end up in hospital or dead so what’s the problem?

TravelLost · 21/10/2021 09:26

@Lostinacloud, I think you are right.

I also think that when those ideas have been floating around, the government has been using them as a way to gauge the public reaction and acting accordingly.
big reaction against it? BJ suddenly insist this will never hapen (see the the covid pass for example but not just that)
People happy with it? or even demanding it? Let's go for that (the timing for the end of lockdown felt like this to me)

I wouldnt get pss them that they are trying it out again to see how people would react and adjust their decision depending on that (That was also one of Cummings ideas of how to decide what to say to the public btw)

Chipsinthewoods · 21/10/2021 09:26

@FreeElf

Totally inadequate government who are incapable of making any decisions. Seem to sit on the fence, see which way the wind is blowing and then follow public opinion. Why oh why did they not leave mask wearing and social distancing in place instead of this ridiculous ‘freedom day’ they were hell bent on. Everything could have continued to stay open with minor restrictions, and minimised spread of infection, reintroducing restrictions now will have a diluted effect as people are used to not having any now.
My theory is, that once they realised delta would still spread in vaccinated people, they decided to let it spread in autumn to get a head start on flu in winter. It is winter pressures on the nhs on top of covid and backlogs which might put us back in lockdown if the wheels come off.

Chris Whitty stated this aim does yes your theory is right.

Lostinacloud · 21/10/2021 09:30

@Claudethecat, that’s the problem though. Maybe it’s all fine when it’s only the odd one or two nights a year most people will be required to show them but it doesn’t stay like that for long unfortunately. Soon they will be implemented in nearly all walks of life, sold as the only alternative to business and service closures.

WrapAroundYourDreams · 21/10/2021 09:32

Thankfully our government are not suicidal mass murderers and instead we’ll limp through winter only to do the same again next year.

Oh you do make me laugh @Thewiseoneincognito. I suppose you've forgotten Boris' 'let the bodies pile up' comment.

It must be really hard for you now to be in the tiny minority of people who think lockdowns should go on forever. You do you anyway.

kirinm · 21/10/2021 09:33

There is specific reference to The Telegraph having spoken to cabinet sources.

These stories were all planted last year to test the water. Or, I think in this case, to try and get people to get vaccinated and / or booster jabs.

I think we will see Plan B. I don't think we will see Plan C.

2389Champ · 21/10/2021 09:33

When 90% of the population is already vaccinated, a passport makes little point.

FourTeaFallOut · 21/10/2021 09:34

Hopefully plan C is a little bit of nudge bullshit to make plan b look more palatable.

Rockdown2020 · 21/10/2021 09:36

@Lostinacloud your post is perfection. I agree.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 21/10/2021 09:37

I really doubt they'll tell anyone to stop mixing because what is the point. They'll maybe say try and be sensible around vulnerable people as we know the vaccine isn't 100% effective but even so people like the op will continue to think fuck 'em I'll do what I like.

Do you mean like government ministers have throughout this whole thing?
