Maybe I’m worrying for no reason but with the steep rise in cases and all the talk of potential reintroduction of restrictions (even a circuit breaker mentioned), would you visit this weekend? I’m due back to work next week which in my main worry really. Am I overthinking?

Any restrictions need to have a start date, they won't announce changes today that start tomorrow, if anything it will be starting Monday so you'd be fine for this weekend!

shouldistop · 26/08/2021 08:25

Restrictions won't be starting by the weekend anyway.

Walkley18 · 26/08/2021 09:54

I am visiting a friend there this weekend, first time since she moved back to UK. Yes, we're going. There have been enough restrictions, need to enjoy what we can when we can.

Brollypackedforscottishholiday · 26/08/2021 09:56

We are off to Mull tomorrow!!

Yellowcrockpot · 26/08/2021 09:58

We are in Scotland, masks still need to be worn. I had no idea... otherwise, all seems fine and dandy

Lou98 · 26/08/2021 09:58

I live in Scotland, we still have stricter restrictions here than you have in England just now so if you feel safe there then you will be fine going to Scotland.

Just be sensible (keep distance, wear your mask etc)

What restrictions is it you're worried that will be introduced that will stop you working etc?

NannyAndJohn · 26/08/2021 10:56

No.

Their cases are at a record high and rising rapidly (6 day doubling time). It's carnage up there.

It's not 'carnage', don't talk such alarmist rot.

We're going next week, can't wait - haven't been for two years and it's my favourite place in the world. Go, and have a lovely time, OP!

dementedpixie · 26/08/2021 11:01

It's not carnage!
Masks still to be worn in shops and moving around restaurants.
Cases more than likely linked to schools going back

NautaOcts · 26/08/2021 11:03

On holiday here at the moment. Certainly doesn’t feel like carnage 🤔
But there’s quite a lot of variation in Scotland looking at this so might depend on where you’re going, but much of it is no worse than England looking at this.

Would you visit Scotland this weekend?
GoldFrankensteinAndGrrr · 26/08/2021 11:05

@NannyAndJohn 'carnage' eh

I live in Edinburgh and I’d say probably don’t if you’ve any doubts.

The first week after restrictions lifted was ok but the second week people were noticeably more lax with masks etc. I think people have let their guard down too quickly.

helpfulperson · 26/08/2021 11:12

Our schools have been back two weeks now. Same thing will happen in England when your schools go back.

Mrsjayy · 26/08/2021 11:13

It isnt carnage for goodness sake 🙄

Lots of people are holidaying in Scotland just come bring your mask there is no circuit breaker due this weekend!

ReviewingTheSituation · 26/08/2021 11:14

I've just booked a 2 week holiday in Scotland, so there had better not be more restrictions! I'm thinking that if there are, it would relate to mass gatherings rather than anything which would affect just 2 of us.

HostageToNationalism · 26/08/2021 11:14

Yes do visit.
It's fine here.
Just a government which thrives on the narcissism of minor differences.

Starjammer · 26/08/2021 11:17

Gosh, I live here and had no idea it was carnage Grin

Mrsjayy · 26/08/2021 11:18

Just follow guidelines and mandatory mask wearing and remember it isn't England and it will be fine.

Mrsjayy · 26/08/2021 11:19

Clearly wandering about obliviousGrin

"carnage"? Nonsense.

Why do you feel the need to scaremonger with such an emotive and completely unreasonable description?

ImperfectTents · 26/08/2021 11:20

I would worry more about the midgies

DiscoDown21 · 26/08/2021 11:20

I’m supposed to be coming to Edinburgh in two weeks, I’m happy to come we’ve had high cases in my area forever ( greater Manchester) I’m fully vax and at risk in work (ward) anyway. I don’t even mind restrictions like masks etc. But the talk of a circuit breaker is worrying me now.

idontlikealdi · 26/08/2021 11:22

Carnage 😂😂

You say carnage 'up there' so I assume you don't even live there?!

AlpineSue · 26/08/2021 11:23

@Starjammer

Me too! Live in Edinburgh, been to some Fringe events, child at school, the carnage has completely passed me by. Must get new specs.
