Maybe I’m worrying for no reason but with the steep rise in cases and all the talk of potential reintroduction of restrictions (even a circuit breaker mentioned), would you visit this weekend? I’m due back to work next week which in my main worry really. Am I overthinking?

@BlackLambAndGreyFalcon

Catching the train tomorrow morning to scotland for the weekend - can't wait!
Enjoy. It's to be great weather 🌞
HarrisMcCoo · 26/08/2021 20:24

@ImperfectTents

I would worry more about the midgies
True🤣
liveforsummer · 26/08/2021 20:26

@NannyAndJohn

No.

Their cases are at a record high and rising rapidly (6 day doubling time). It's carnage up there.

It's really not 🤣. Cases are rising because schools have been back over a week now, yes. You'll find the same in a couple of weeks as well - probably worse as your current restrictions are less. It will be fine OP. If restrictions are introduced it won't be before Monday and not likely to be anything that affects a short break much anyway. Just remember your mask. We still need those here.
Figgygal · 26/08/2021 20:26

I spent last weekend in Aberdeen with family
Flew there and Back
It was fine

@DiscoDown21

I’m supposed to be coming to Edinburgh in two weeks, I’m happy to come we’ve had high cases in my area forever ( greater Manchester) I’m fully vax and at risk in work (ward) anyway. I don’t even mind restrictions like masks etc. But the talk of a circuit breaker is worrying me now.
Will probably just be large gatherings. Night clubs, bubbles in school returning etc. I wouldn't worry about it ruining a break.
RumHoney · 26/08/2021 20:29

I'm on holiday in Scotland at the moment and it's glorious. We're mainly eating outside because the weather is so good, and mask wearing rates are much higher than at home.

Pootle40 · 26/08/2021 20:30

We are all the same land mass you know. I don't wear a mask because 60 miles down the road in Berwick upon tweed I wouldn't need to wear a mask. People I work with almost live that far away. It's all a fucked up logic.

Our 'rates' also look high because the majority of Scotland lives in the central belt.

@DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult

Carnage 🤣🤣

It didn't feel like carnage when I dropped my kids at school earlier, I have an appointment at the opticians later too, I hope I avoid all the carnage while I'm getting my eyes tested.

What? It's always carnage dropping the kids off at school!! (Nothing to do with covid though 😆)

I genuinely wish @NannyAndJohn would be banned or just simply stop posting. They throw in these dramatic posts that never help the OP’s and feeds their anxiety but never, ever return to the post.

He/she will be spreading hyperbole elsewhere on the site now.

NannyandJohn is a woman. On another thread she was spouting off about how 80% of men are useless, but not her husband obvs, because she was so clever in waiting for a good one.

Coldbit · 26/08/2021 21:01

I need more milk but I live in Glasgow. Do you think its safe to go out?

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 26/08/2021 21:08

@liveforsummer the school run is no longer carnage thanks to covid.

Set gates for each class to go in, not allowed in the playground or to hang about, plus different times for various classes means I now just drop and run and don't get guilted into volunteering for events by the strategically placed parent committee. Long may it continue. the carnage is in my house getting them ready for school

I wouldn't risk it. Bodies piling up all over the city.

Carnage GrinGrinGrin Our schools went back, thats all!

But do you really NEED milk? I'm sure you could use something else like cheese instead...
FanGirlFoof · 26/08/2021 21:34

We are heading up for a week on Saturday. I did see Nicola talking about bringing back some restrictions due to rising cases but thought it would probably apply to mass gatherings and we are mostly going walking. Plus we're self catering so not really planning on mixing with anyone outside our family.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 26/08/2021 21:38

I would but then my local area in England has quite a high rate anyway. We have had 5 breaks in Scotland and have another booked since the pandemic started but spend our time in remote places and predominantly self cater so I consider it low risk (to both us and Scotland)

Coldbit · 26/08/2021 21:41

Hmm, I have some white emulsion paint. Maybe I could put that in my tea instead?

NoWordForFluffy · 26/08/2021 21:58

The Kelpies this evening...I'm amazed we made it out alive, quite frankly!

doorornottodoor · 26/08/2021 21:59

@NoWordForFluffy 😍

NannyAndJohn · 26/08/2021 22:04

It seems as though my choice of words has touched a few nerves.

By "carnage" I refer to the fact that cases have quadrupled in four weeks, culminating in yesterday having the largest number of cases in Scotland since the pandemic began.

Would you visit Scotland this weekend?
dementedpixie · 26/08/2021 22:06

Yes, but deaths and ICU cases aren't rising alongside cases
Cases are mainly in children and younger adults

dementedpixie · 26/08/2021 22:11

Shows the link has been broken between cases and serious illness/death
