49 deaths reported today, 50 yesterday & 42,000 cases plus today, I am feeling very nervous about the weeks ahead... The govt simply have to man up & take ownership of this escalating catastrophe....

The next 3 Weeks the figures will rocket, but scientists seem convinced deaths wont be high figures, but time will tell

More people died from cancer today. Sometimes I do wonder if reporting every daily Covid death figure is actualy helpful.

Buzzinwithbez · 14/07/2021 23:54

They seem to be plateuing according to the Zoe app.

Horehound · 14/07/2021 23:55

Nope 🤷

Every time we allow the NHS to be overrun, the nhs is too overwhelmed to deal with other illnesses.

Lockdowns don’t stop other illnesses bring treated, rampant Covid and an overrun nhs does.

So deaths by other causes can be avoided by not overrunning the nhs too.

You can’t claim to care about other illnesses unless you back stopping the nhs being overwhelmed. Again.

Yes. I'm all for us trying to get back to some form of normal and all that but hardly anyone in the crowds had a face covering on. Same during the football too.

IncessantNameChanger · 15/07/2021 00:01

No I'm not worried as deaths on worldometres can clearly be seen compared the other waves and look flat.

I'm a bit worried about my MRI in August but worrying changes nothing in relation to covid.

Homeontherangeuk · 15/07/2021 00:01

I though the 49 deaths yesterday was just a "backlog" of unreported deaths(sorry if that sounds insensitive but I can't think of wording it better) but 50 today looks like the start of a pattern unfortunately

Why do you trust the Zoe app?

There's no plateauing if you look at the actual figures

beentoldcomputersaysno · 15/07/2021 00:08

I'm worried, but trying not to be!

Dreamer202 · 15/07/2021 00:09

Anxious about the figures post Wembly too and frustrated.

I know its a separate issue somewhat but how can so many people be permitted to crowd together like that yet I have a vulnerable family member in a local hospital that has now paused visiting because of growing covid cases / same hospital has also cancelled all elective surgery since last Thursday.

I just dont understand how we are opening up yet some hospitals are under pressure. I am anxious the government plan to plough ahead no matter how high the hospital admissions / deaths rise.

gardeninggirl68 · 15/07/2021 00:16

For most fit ands healthy people covid will be mild

I didn't see many pensioners in the crowd

They should be fine

KilljoysDutch · 15/07/2021 00:33

"I didn't see many pensioners in the crowd"

But you don't know who those in the crowd are going home to. I'm concerned about the coming figures and think that the whole football crowds was an awful idea to be honest.

SmidgenofaPigeon · 15/07/2021 00:38

You didn’t need to wear a mask in the crowd. They were test events, same as Wimbledon.

You needed to prove a double vaccine or register a negative LF test. DH is going to F1 silverstone this weekend. He only has one vaccine so had to register a negative test today to attend and one on Saturday while he’s there.

No one seemed too concerned about the 1000's of maskless 'Freedom' marches that took place a couple of weeks ago nor of any other weekend marches that have regularly taken place.

SmidgenofaPigeon · 15/07/2021 00:43

@PopcornMuncher that would have been a tiny number of people. The vast vast majority would have been compliant with what they were asked to do.

Really? You’re saying huge numbers of people attending Wembley were actually secretly positive so had to borrow a mate’s negative test?

I don’t think so.

MercyBooth · 15/07/2021 00:49

@PopcornMuncher Sadiq Khan focusing on masks is a neat deflection from this

www.theguardian.com/society/2021/jul/14/ticketless-fans-actions-at-wembley-terrifying-say-disabled-fans?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other

Hes all about the vulnerable.

MercyBooth · 15/07/2021 00:51

Well the possibility of flare arse men ending up in A and E was quite high. I say men because two doing that ended up in my timeline.
