Bored of Boris-bashing

I'm not a massive fan or anything, nor do I think the government have made all the right decisions during the pandemic. But I'm just getting bored of the fuckwit Boris letting the delta variant in, fucking moron, etc narrative. I'm too bored of this to waste energy being angry! Like, honestly, it would have got in anyway. All it takes is one case. And if they had "closed the fucking border" and refused to let ANYONE or ANYTHING in from India (which is impractical) it would be branded discriminatory, racist, etc. And meh, New Zealand managed it, whatever - smaller population than London in a larger group of islands than GB&NI. Cannot understand how anyone thinks it's comparable.

I'm just fed up of all the wrath and anger. Honestly, I think the government bashing is making them go freaky-cautious. So it's detrimental to businesses, wellbeing, etc. Yeah, I get this isn't how things work in an ideal world. But the world is not ideal! I just can't bring myself to be pissed off about it.

Carrie, just because you've got to like him, doesn't mean we have to Wink

Scottishgirl85 · 13/06/2021 19:13

I have to agree. I'm not a fan, but jeez I'd like to see some of the people on here doing any better. It's an impossible situation, he's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.

@OP whilst I agree the Delta variant would have gotten in we lost valuable vaccination time that may have controlled its spread much better. We already had restrictions in place, it wouldn’t have been a disaster to close off travel paths to India at the point it was identified as an issue. The result of that would have benefitted business because we wouldn’t be teetering in the edge of a delay to their reopening. Businesses should be the most pissed off group here right now.

It was a fuck up. Another in a pretty long line of fuck ups.

RunnerDown · 13/06/2021 19:18

I also think the variant would have got in anyway. But I truly hate him and think he’s a massive embarrassment to us all . Not because of the mistakes he has made, but because he has used the tragedy of Brexit and coronavirus to line his own pockets and that of his cronies. He is a psychopath and he doesn’t care about a single person other than himself. He is shafting this country - helped by Murdoch. I give up on anyone who can’t see that .

Nappyvalley15 · 13/06/2021 19:19

OP your argument would have made more sense if they hadn't closed off travel from Pakistan and Bangladesh and left it open to India. They knew of the threat but left travel open for political reasons. I wish they would just own that.

I am actually amazed at how little political blowback Johnson gets for some of his decisions.

Cornettoninja · 13/06/2021 19:22

@RunnerDown that’s a fair assessment. Although let’s not forget he’s not acting alone, he has a cabinet of psychopaths cheering him on and whispering in his ear.

LaurieFairyCake · 13/06/2021 19:24

Really ? Hmm

That's like being bored of Blair being accused of being a war criminal ...

The government's actions have literally cost tens of thousands of EXTRA deaths by not locking down quickly enough - TWICE

I'm
Not
Bored
Yet 🤷‍♀️

whatswithtodaytoday · 13/06/2021 19:27

He has done a spectacularly terrible job, and people have died unnecessarily because of it. And he doesn't care. Neither does anyone in his government. We've had the worst possible prime minister at the worst possible time.

SonnetForSpring · 13/06/2021 19:27

Boris and the government have made lots of big mistakes by going against scientific advice. I'm so sorry you are bored...some others aren't bored and have been seriously affected by it all like the elderly in care homes who lost their lives because they were not protected. So many selfish, entitled, demanding people on mn.

Miaowmi · 13/06/2021 19:28

But how can you say that? How can you know?

I agree on the political expediency point re. India btw. But you can just as much say that it was a political/sentimental decision to allow free movement with the new EU in the 2000s, because of the UK's "historic debt" to and "close ties" with Poland. As an example. So many political decisions are motivated by factors which are not overtly stated.

Which bit are you referring to?

Miaowmi · 13/06/2021 19:30

@SonnetForSpring how do you know I haven't been affected by it? I just don't see that being angry and calling other people "selfish" makes anything better!

OP posts:
SonnetForSpring · 13/06/2021 19:30

No point debating this. If you had followed the events, you would know.

Of course having a political opinion makes things better. It's called VOTING!

Miaowmi · 13/06/2021 19:31

I have followed the events. Thanks!

I bored of having that embarrassing cockwomble in charge but there you go

TotorosCatBus · 13/06/2021 19:33

Delta variant was always going to get into the country (even China is having outbreaks) but I feel like the government is getting off scot- free because they know that there is no proper opposition and they are going to remain in power for longer.

MonsterMash2210 · 13/06/2021 19:33

I am not a fan of Boris, I do not understand why anyone voted for him. I do not understand how he became PM and why he has managed to stay as PM. I have felt this way since winter 2019.

However, when it comes to the Pandemic I don’t think anyone currently in politics would have done much better to be honest.

I have little faith in any of them.

gluteustothemaximus · 13/06/2021 19:34

But it's true. He's a fucking moron. And an utter embarrassment.

strangeshapedpotato · 13/06/2021 19:34

Sure it would have got in, like it would have got in last February no matter what we did.

It didn't mean we had to provide fucking thousands of seed cases all over the country to give it a head start did it??

WuhanClanAintNothingToFuckWith · 13/06/2021 19:35

Yes. It just means nobody can or wants to move forward constructively. It’s like you can’t say “science” or “economics” to some folk. Constant politics and bickering gets in the way. It’s wearing, I absolutely hate politics, bugs me at the best times, but the whinging has gone through the roof. I suppose it’s because we’re at such a vital stage in this with announcements about restrictions/vaccines/variants/cases imminent. To be honest it makes me want to support the Tories through this. Same as it did with Brexit! Labour are their own worse enemy. And LOUD and stupid about it 😂

TotorosCatBus · 13/06/2021 19:35

As for the ultra cautious bit - this is partly because local restrictions don't work here so everybody is being treated the same as the most affected areas. I know that there's a "try not to leave the area" recommendation for some areas but it's not a policed restriction

Cornettoninja · 13/06/2021 19:36

Oh okay, because they have, I’ve got eyes and ears. Not once, but at least three times they have ignored global information and decided to ‘risk’ it.

I’m not just counting deaths from covid but all those caused by the delays which are still ongoing within the NHS. To pick just one example, January was an absolute mess, allowing schools back for one day when it was clear where the situation was heading for at least two weeks previously. It was ridiculously weak leadership that was searching for gratification from popularity.

PrimulaPrimrose · 13/06/2021 19:37

It's like he just can't be bothered.
