Forcing vaccination

Just read this on the Beeb

Personally, I think it's outrageous that employees may insist on vaccination and airlines preventing travel.

A communistic approach! Angry

I think there’s a difference between forcing people to have the vaccine and saying they can’t travel / enter shopping centres / go to concerts etc unless they provide proof of having had it. If people want normal life back the vaccine is the only way we can do that.

Samcro · 31/01/2021 20:45

Surely no one is being forced to have the vaccine.

DinosaurDiana · 31/01/2021 20:47

No doubt someone will come up with a way of forging the evidence, so no point IMO.

DimidDavilby · 31/01/2021 20:48

😂😂😂

DappledThings · 31/01/2021 20:49

I'm fine with it. I am also fine with schools insisting on children being up to date with their jabs before they are allowed to take up a place as happens in some countries.

x2boys · 31/01/2021 20:49

I don't think anyone,s going to hold people down for a vaccine ,I have sadly been part of team injecting mentally unwell people against their will and it's distressing for everyone ,that's very different to not allowing unvaccinated people to attend events as obviously they have a choice wether to vaccinate or not.

So blackmail then
SchrodingersImmigrant · 31/01/2021 20:51

In some places kid's can't go to public school without certain vaccinations.
If you cannot be vaccinated, you will not have issues. If you can and choose not to be, well, there may be consequences.

SarahBellam · 31/01/2021 20:53

They’re not forcing you to be vaccinated. That’s still your choice, just as it’s a business’ choice to serve someone who may be carrying the virus.

Propagandalf · 31/01/2021 20:53

If you can have the vaccine and you are able to, then you should get the vaccine imo.

Allergic reaction? Then yes that's a valid excuse, or at least seek an alternative vaccine.

Asthma? That's also a valid excuse but again seek an alternative. I know an asthmatic who would take the Pfizer vaccine, but was able to take the Oxford one.

Religious reasons? Not an excuse. Saving yourself and others should take precedent.

Microchips? You can fuck right off.

Anti-vaxxers are a hindrance for us getting back to normal. And I don't mean the 'new normal' as that can sod right off too.

Bagelsandbrie · 31/01/2021 20:54

It’s not blackmail. None of those things are essential are they?

tilder · 31/01/2021 20:54

Am not sure why people are surprised. Insurance will probably feature too. The unvaccinated would be a legal liability in many circumstances.

I doubt it will be forced. Just that proof of vaccination may become a requirement before accessing certain services. Am sure exemptions will apply.

Samcro · 31/01/2021 20:55

Even my disabled adult child has had it.
This is someon who refuses the flu jab.(lds) so I can't get my head round people refusing it. If they do, they surely have to accept the fact that they might not have the same freedoms as people who do.

AStudyinPink · 31/01/2021 20:55

Coercing people just drives forward the anti-vax narrative (“What’s wrong with it that they have to force people” etc.).

SarahBellam · 31/01/2021 20:55

But why wouldn’t you want to be vaccinated? Do you want this to drag on for another few years?

lunar1 · 31/01/2021 20:56

I look forward to being able to pick services etc where everyone will be vaccinated.

bridgetreilly · 31/01/2021 20:56

It's not communist. If it were communist, it would be the government enforcing it. Private companies are absolutely entitled to enforce whatever rules they see fit to keep their employees and clients safe.

Just get the vaccine and stop wailing about it.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 31/01/2021 20:58

Didn't really go as intended, the thread, did it😂
Everyone being calm and reasonable

Pandapotato · 31/01/2021 20:59

No one is forcing anyone to have the vaccine. People have the right to chose not to have it. People also right to not want to provide a service to or mix with those that don’t. It’s a free country and all that.

vodkaredbullgirl · 31/01/2021 20:59

All residents and all staff have been vaccinated, where I work. None of the staff were forced to, we just did it.

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 31/01/2021 20:59

No-one can force you to have a vaccine. But on the other hand, no-one is forcing you to get on a plane, go to a concert etc.

Airlines are private companies so they can pick and choose their own rules for conditions of travel, you only need to obey them if you want to travel with them.

Bet you wouldn't apply that argument to something like saysexuality, race, gender?
Berthatydfil · 31/01/2021 21:02

All choices have consequences.

Unanananana · 31/01/2021 21:03

Noone is forcing anyone to be vaccinated. Those who refuse to be vaccinated need to accept that there may be things they won't be able to do. Thats is a consequence of their choice.

Airlines may not want unvaccinated people on their flights, concert venues may not want unvaccinated in their crowds. That is their choice, the same as people who refuse have chosen not to have it. Its not blackmail. Its just different choices. An anti-vaxxer that gets huffy about it just make themselves look ridiculous.

The idea of mass vaccination is to promote herd immunity to protect those who cannot have the vaccine, not those who choose not to because of idiotic conspiracy theory or YouTube science. I'm totally ok with that. My DC and I have had all of ours and will have the covid one to protect the DCs classmates, teachers and our family when they are allowed. I think countries that don't allow unvaccinated DC into schools have the right idea personally.
