What now?!

@blueangel19

Well, there is a reason Corbyn lost the elections. We can all make great assumptions but he has never been and never will be PM so keep on dreaming Corbynists.
ODFOD, Corbyn hasn’t even got the Labour whip any more. How much longer are we going to get “Yes but Corbyn ... “? We might as well say “Yes, but Theresa”.
redsky21 · 07/01/2021 18:02

Surely NHS staff would still be able to use nurseries if they closed.....being keyworkers?

itsgettingweird · 07/01/2021 18:02

As much as Boris is still crap when faced with questions.

I have noticed a huge shift in his addresses and delivery and a much calmer sensible image since Cain and Cummings went.

Maybe he has realised that boyish Boris just isn't a credible look in a pandemic. And dare I hope this could be the start of an improved Boris? We're stuck with him for 3 years so would be good to think he may become better at his job during that time!

Backbee · 07/01/2021 18:06

They know that the British public are always unwilling to criticise the armed forces

Lmao!

And no, it's better someone in the military talks about what they are going to be doing than Boris, and it's protocol that they wear their uniform for addresses such as this.

GrumblyMumblyisnotJumbly · 07/01/2021 18:09

Missed it.

Did Boris mention if schools are safe?

PurpleDaisies · 07/01/2021 18:13

Missed it.

Did Boris mention if schools are safe?

He did! Wally.

Also some crap about nurseries being open because if they weren’t NHS staff couldn’t go to work....seemingly forgetting they’d get get key worker places.

Of course!

@Lovaduck74

Don't fret, he only gives us really bad news at 8pm!
That’s so true Lockdown number 54 will be announced at 8pm 😆
thenightsky · 07/01/2021 18:28

Boris himself, however, could easily have been replaced by Rowley Birkin QC from the Fast Show and none of us would have noticed.

Grin I can't unsee that now!

the80sweregreat · 07/01/2021 18:34

I hope the vaccine roll out goes well.
I really want the government to do this efficiently and not mess it up.
It feels like it's their last chance to prove it can go to plan and to start to get us out of these restrictions over time.
I know I'm asking for the moon on a stick here , but I live in hope.

itsgettingweird · 07/01/2021 18:38

The one thing they don't mention which to me is obvious that is after this 6 weeks of mass roll out they will have to stop moving down priorities to give all these people their second dose.

That's end of March.

Or roll out next to priority groups by then and then it'll be another 3 months (June) before they've got to end of too 6 categories.

Ok, that'll be summer and if we follow last years pattern things will naturally improve then anyway. But they are cleverly avoiding pointing out what we face after the next 6 weeks.

Defenbaker · 07/01/2021 18:42

I felt reassured to hear that the army is heavily involved in sorting out the logistics. Boris admitted the road ahead might be bumpy in places, but the brigadier seemed confident that they can hit the target by mid Feb. I enjoyed it when they said that the UK has vaccinated many more people than Germany, and 300 times more than France! ☺

You know whet we need 80s?

The Peanut That Reverses Time.

That's what we need

SchadenfreudePersonified · 07/01/2021 18:53

*what. not whet

the80sweregreat · 07/01/2021 19:05

A reverse peanut would be great!

KimchiLaLa · 07/01/2021 20:15

Weren't the army also drafted in to test and trace? I have no idea. It's all blurred in to one. WHERE IS DIDO HARDING? What a waste of space that woman is

ChrissyCarol · 07/01/2021 20:16

'Anyone else starting to feel like hes a toddler you've put to bed but keeps getting up.'

Ha! Brilliant!

DenisetheMenace · 07/01/2021 20:19

“He was still good though. Some people won't want the logistics info because it's not juicy but it's so very important and the British army are actually another claim we could legitimately make about being world class.”

Agree. Greatly reassured that the services are going to be involved.

@itsgettingweird. There are more vaccines in the pipeline that the UK have orders in for.

randomer · 07/01/2021 20:29

He clearly needs more Calpol and black out blinds.

Dido Hiding! Probably abroad somewhere spending all that lovely tax payers money she received months ago.
Notthissticky · 07/01/2021 22:58

@itsgettingweird

Loving this guy but you can tell he's use to addressing soldiers and not a nation of people sat at home with alcohol waiting to play Boris Bingo!
I'm 35 weeks pregnant and your comment has made me realise I've done most of this pandemic without booze. Seems like a really, really stupid idea now 🤦🏼‍♀️ (there was no certainty about a second wave when we conceived, let alone a fucking new strain that means the current situation is even worse than 10 months ago)
Notthissticky · 07/01/2021 23:05

Some nurseries closed completely, even to key worker children, in the first lockdown. Ours was one of them, as they couldn't make it work financially despite being located opposite a hospital so having lots of KW kids. Other than that I concur that Boris is a twat, fear notGrin
