What now?!

OP posts:
itsgettingweird · 07/01/2021 15:04

Can we add another statement for our drinking game.

We now have a lot of "jab in the arms" being said.

TheDogsMother · 07/01/2021 15:05

@Iwantacookie brilliant ! Grin

PigletJohn · 07/01/2021 15:06

Is it his resignation?

PigletJohn · 07/01/2021 15:08

@BigWoollyJumpers

Oxford vaccine was approved 30th December. Nothing started til 4th Jan. Why?? 5 days could have shorted this whole shitshow by a hell of a lot. Did it need to be a business day?

Because PHE/NHS/Civil Service don't work weekends or bank holidays. PHE is and has been the main culprit for most of the issues we have had since March. They are not fit for purpose.

Because it was a complete surprise, and nobody has spent the last twelve months anticipating a vaccine and preparing for it.
Lockdownlovernotfromliverpool · 07/01/2021 15:15

Seems like a good place to post this..

At least you’re getting updates.

Has anyone seen Drakeford?

Snorkelface · 07/01/2021 15:42

@Iwantacookie - exactly that!

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 07/01/2021 15:50

This isn't a surprise he said more updates

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 07/01/2021 15:53

@PigletJohn

Is it his resignation?
Alas, we won't be that lucky.
yearinyearout · 07/01/2021 16:05

Anyone else starting to feel like hes a toddler you've put to bed but keeps getting up.

That made me LOL 😂

RedToothBrush · 07/01/2021 16:08

Two pieces of news today:

Kate McCann @KateEMcCann
Matt Hancock reiterates that once the vaccine priority list has been vaccinated the order of next doses still needs to be decided. Says teachers and nursery workers would have a good claim to being at the top, as do police and other public servants/key workers.

and

Hugo Gye @HugoGye
NEW

Two more effective treatments have been identified for Covid-19 in a British clinical trial: rheumatoid arthritis drugs tocilizumab and sarilumab.

From now, hospitals are being encouraged to give ICU patients tocilizumab which appears to reduce mortality rates by 24%.

(Just a point though. If you reduce mortality it means you have more very unwell people in beds, rather than them dying and freeing up beds - its good less people are dying, but the outcomes for those who survive are also important to note and sheer numbers in beds also cause knock on issues to levels of care in all areas including non covid cases).

3littlewords · 07/01/2021 16:10

Ffs what else can he possibly do know to make our lives even worse than they already are?? 😭
Screw you Boris 🖕

ZigZaggyZoo · 07/01/2021 16:14

This thread has given me my first laugh of the day thank you Iwantacookie and Lovaduck74 it's much needed!

I wonder if these drugs can be given before people end up in ICU? That has the potential to make a significant difference.

Notthissticky · 07/01/2021 16:17

@Butterymuffin Yes! Complete with the out of control hair. Excusez-moi! My toddler's hair looks a damn sight better than that of Boris. He's vv offended at your blanket statement!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 07/01/2021 16:27

Sorry to buck the trend everyone. It's not compulsory to tune in. There's plenty of choice now. I'm sure there will be a something of interest on another channel.

Not compulsory for you to make a snide comment on this thread, either, EscapedfromGN. There's plenty of choice. I'm sure there are others you will agree with

SchadenfreudePersonified · 07/01/2021 16:30

That is one thing you can say for the man. He's got a sense of humour, he does not have sticks inserted in inconvenient places, and he'd probably find this thread quite amusing

Only when the joke is at someone else's expense - his"humour" is often very inappropriate considering the seriousness of the situation, and is used to deflect serious questioning and criticism.

Onedropbeat · 07/01/2021 16:31

BBC 2 have had to rearrange their listings just today so they didn’t seem to know about it before now

KimchiLaLa · 07/01/2021 16:40

It's not an announcement, it's an update. I would ask for the name of the thread to to be updated.

cdtaylornats · 07/01/2021 16:40

Sturgeon has her own show - 30 minutes of SNP propaganda thinly disguised as updates after the news every day.

cdtaylornats · 07/01/2021 16:41

I can only imagine the state we would be in if Corbyn was in charge.

Orf1abc · 07/01/2021 16:46

I can only imagine the state we would be in if Corbyn was in charge.

Tell me about it. Healthcare workers knowing they're worth more than a clap, all children having access to IT at home, a universal basic income to ensure no one is living in destitution.

Putting people before profits. Unimaginable isn't it?

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 07/01/2021 16:54

5 minutes to go...will he be on time?🤔

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 07/01/2021 17:00

That's a no then.🤦🏻‍♀️
