Just been announced. What this time?

OP posts:
Sobeyondthehills · 21/12/2020 17:36

If there had been a race between Bolt and Johnson to get out of that room, Bolt would have been eating dust

SixesAndEights · 21/12/2020 17:36

@WotWouldCJDo

Johnson seems a bit short on patience this evening.
Well, it's all fucked up his Christmas jolly to wherever hasn't it?

Now they're forcing him out to do a presser to say fuck all.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 21/12/2020 17:37

Boris the dominatrix!! Pass me the mind bleach!!!

I thought that was Macron's wife? You know, standing over him with her cane while he dresses as the schoolboy he was when he met her - little schoolboy cap, falling down socks and all?

Come to think of it, pass that mind bleach? Wink

dietingtomorrow · 21/12/2020 17:37

What annoys me is that he never has a grasp on the detail, and so can't answer the questions. Asked "what percentage" his answer was "some". All the rest was waffle. If this was a GCSE exam, he would have failed it.

GroundAlmonds · 21/12/2020 17:37

@CremeEggThief

GroundAlmonds, good God, woman, I'm not Southern! I'm Irish. And as Kier is a Cetic name, that's how it should really be pronounced. Like Kieran which is properly spelled as Ciaran. Care/en. Kiera should be spelled Ciara and pronounced Care/a.
X post. Grin

No I meant Keir was southern (and me), but you are Irish so I award myself another drink! 🥃☘️

willsantausesantatize · 21/12/2020 17:37

I counted 3 alas's.

likeamillpond · 21/12/2020 17:37

@FlappingPancakes

I'm so bored of these stupid journalist questions, I really am

this was a big Fuck Off You French press conference as far as I can see

if any of these European countries think they don't have this strain that spreads quicker, then they are delusional. We've just been the first to announce it (why do they think their cases were all going up exponentially the last few weeks!)

You can see NO is fed up of these press conferences too.

I think they should only hold them when there's something really important to announce.
Otherwise it's like having a teacher who shouts all the time.
It loses its effect.

Newgirls · 21/12/2020 17:37

Agh missed Pippa - what did she ask

She’s ace

Laura K no integrity

SixesAndEights · 21/12/2020 17:38

@RafaIsTheKingOfClay

Alas a delivery turned up so I missed the last couple of questions. Assuming I didn’t miss much in the answers.
How do you pronoune 'beer'?
MrsWooster · 21/12/2020 17:38

Wasn’t there a final, 4th alas?

MutantNinjaCovid · 21/12/2020 17:38

The BBC summed up as:

The main message from Grant Shapps is not to go to Kent

Gosh I must knock that off my list of things to do this week.

Summerstorms · 21/12/2020 17:38

@Orf1abc

The Brexit lorry park isn't ready, currently looking at February!

What the hell. I am so done with thi s government... (as if I wasn't before)

PicsInRed · 21/12/2020 17:38

What the fuck was all that about.

TicTacTwo · 21/12/2020 17:38

What's with the use of transmissible ? Use infectious ffs.

The questions were generally pretty crap but 500,000 jabs given is a surprise. Wasn't it like 138,000 is week one?

GroundAlmonds · 21/12/2020 17:38

@CremeEggThief

How many "alas"? Did anyone keep track?😆
No, but I think it’s either that or Latin. Just two modes. I prefer the Alas mode. Just.
Purplethrow · 21/12/2020 17:39

I pronounce beer - bee yer

willsantausesantatize · 21/12/2020 17:40

@MrsWooster

Wasn’t there a final, 4th alas?
Probably : from me ( alas) for tuning in ! Gloomy news about lorries and the virus all day on the news then they come on and say ' alas, don't go to Kent' !
GroundAlmonds · 21/12/2020 17:40

What's with the use of transmissible ? Use infectious ffs.

I think infectious is seen as a scary word that causes panic.

likeamillpond · 21/12/2020 17:40

That's half an hour of my life I'll never get back.

Newsreader. What did we learn?
Sweet FA

UnholyStramash · 21/12/2020 17:40

Am I right in thinking if you take a vehicle on a ferry over to mainland Europe , you don’t stay in the vehicle during the crossing? Certainly that’s how it is on Scottish ferries for safety reasons. I was thinking about the PM suggesting truck drivers aren’t a risk if they're just sitting in their cabs’. I’ve been on the ferries but only as foot passenger so I know, certainly on Stena, they’ve got quarters for truckers to sleep, but also socialise in normal times.

TicTacTwo · 21/12/2020 17:41

I swear there was a "what proportion" question and he started talking about people over 80. Hmm
BonnieDundee · 21/12/2020 17:41

I think during covid.drivers have been able to stay in their vehicles but I couldn't swear.to it

Puzzledandpissedoff · 21/12/2020 17:41

The Brexit lorry park isn't ready, currently looking at February

What did anyone expect? As with most public projects there's a rule of thumb I find useful:

It'll take 5 times as long as said
It'll cost 10 times as much
And it won't work

willsantausesantatize · 21/12/2020 17:41

I have lots of relatives in Kent. I don't see a lot of them , now , I never will see them again ( alas)

It’s on a flood plain IIRC so spends quite a lot of time under water which is slowing things down.

Beer with 2 syllables here. Bee-uh
