Took test at a test centre 8pm Thursday. Nothing back yet.

Anyone else waiting or got any insight into average London wait times?

Can’t stop checking my emails and texts Confused

I’m in Kent and tested at 2pm Thursday and still waiting. I read the other day they were taking around 50-60hours so I’m hoping mine will come through tonight as it’s now been 52 hours. Anxiety is now kicking in

Youngatheart00 · 19/12/2020 18:11

Glad I’m not the only one waiting (well, obviously know I’m not but it doesn’t stop me stressing). Mines at 46 hours now. Kept waking up every hour or so last night in case something had come through. I’ve got to isolate anyway due to track and trace but have had some symptoms - not sure if a cold or the dreaded one.

I had mine done at 3.30pm yesterday and cant stop jumping every time my phone goes off. I feel unwell but not alarmingly so. I just want to know!!

CatVsChristmasTree · 19/12/2020 18:13

Same here! 5pm Thursday, south east (tested at Bexhill). Been checking obsessively as have already had to cancel one clinic and we have other staff isolating too (practice nurse).

LilyE1234 · 19/12/2020 18:15

I’m waiting too. Tested at 7pm Thursday in west London. 🤞😞

Youngatheart00 · 19/12/2020 18:16

I can only imagine the test centres in London and south east are dealing with crazy demand at the moment but I wish I just knew it would be ‘at or before X’ as like a PP I’m compulsive with my phone.

Keep telling myself it really doesn’t matter if it’s positive or not....especially with T4, but at least if it’s negative I could still do the Xmas food shop at a quiet time.

Waiting too, had test this afternoon was told results tomorrow , SE. Feeling rubbish , hoping it's a cold . The waiting is hideous. Had another illness in April, back then I had to wait 9 days (HCP) just to have a test, by which time all my symptoms had gone. This time have nasty cough , so would dearly like to know ...

CatVsChristmasTree · 19/12/2020 18:19

Last thread I checked on here most were getting them back the next day. Test centre said 48 hours.
My symptoms are improving and may well have been just a cold (started with sore throat and sneezing, then a cough and slight temperature). I had DS1 and DS2 tested as well as I caught it from DS2 and he started with a stomach upset then cold symptoms, then sore throat which DS1 had for a few days. Neither of them had testable symptoms but several cases at school and there were hundreds of spare testing slots here. DD now has a stomach ache and a cough and runny nose, wasn't going to bother getting her tested until our results come back as if they are negative then she has what we do. However, case at her school now so I may have to.
Need to re-read the guidance on isolating and testing actually.

AHippoNamedBooBooButt · 19/12/2020 18:21

Today is my last day of self isolation and tbh I’m feeling too unwell to go out anywhere (my main symptom now is fatigue) but it would be nice to go out for a walk tomorrow, maybe take the dc to the park as 2 have also been isolating all week (we were all identified as close contacts from 3 different sources/schools)

NoliteTeBastardesCarborundorum · 19/12/2020 18:26

Waiting since 9am Thursday- SE London.

Youngatheart00 · 19/12/2020 18:32

Presumably these things are a 24/7 operation? Or not?

People were getting results emailed at 3am, so I'm guessing they are in some areas at least. Last time we had a test, back in September, I got priority NHS testing by courier and results still took 4 days! But that was when there were no tests available and it was really busy.
Youngatheart00 · 19/12/2020 18:38

I wonder whether the number of people going for tests is actually increasing rapidly....or whether it’s just the positivity rate...?

Took one at test centre yesterday, was told ‘24hrs’ but centre was really busy. Nothing back yet.

LemonDrizzles · 19/12/2020 19:06

I'm waiting as well. I just want to know. Not sure if my symptoms are being compounded by the anxiety of not knowing. Sent test in by post yesterday. Hoping by Monday... I'm in London

LilyE1234 · 19/12/2020 19:10

Just got mine after exactly 48 hours. Negative.. not that I can do much in tier 4 but at least I can go to the supermarket and stock up on wine 🍷 hope everyone gets their (negative) results soon xx

Youngatheart00 · 19/12/2020 19:13

Good to hear of your negative result (and timing) @LilyE1234

Yes, in tier 4 pretty much everything is now off the agenda but you’re right about the wine! And also I don’t entirely trust DH with the festive food shop, even if it is just for the 2 of us!

I had one this week in East Anglia - I was very impressed at speed. From booking the appointment (not even attending!) to receiving the result was 22 hours! It helps that the site is next to a science park where I think they process the tests

Youngatheart00 · 19/12/2020 19:26

Are people (in England) receiving results by text or email first?

It's driving me mad! I've finished the series I was watching, I need a new distraction! Off to have a bath now though, as I stink. Got really hot and sweaty earlier though temp not been above 37.6 today.

ureterr1blemuriel · 19/12/2020 19:52

I had a text and an email - both at the same time

Oldtimer2020 · 19/12/2020 20:03

Test 9.30 Tuesday. Still waiting. Now in tier 4 so missed the opportunity to go out because we’ve been waiting so long for the results. Gutted is an understatement.

confusednortherner · 19/12/2020 20:07

@ureterr1blemuriel sounds like you were at same site as us. Ds tested at 11am and negative results just after midnight! Seriously impressed as read how long they were taking in other areas.
Hope you get negative results soon Op 🤞
