Waiting for test results...anyone else?

Youngatheart00 · 19/12/2020 17:39

Took test at a test centre 8pm Thursday. Nothing back yet.

Anyone else waiting or got any insight into average London wait times?

Can’t stop checking my emails and texts Confused

Super variable then, even within region.

AHippoNamedBooBooButt · 20/12/2020 11:15

Got my result an hour ago (so 68hrs I think?). Positive :(

Irre247 · 20/12/2020 11:29

We waited a long time for ours (Midlands). Got tested at 9am Wednesday, result finally came 4pm Saturday. So nearly 80 hours, 3 1/2 days. So anyone I potentially infected when at my most infectious was happily going about their business potentially at their most infectious.

Not exactly the best system!

Irre247 · 20/12/2020 11:30

(Positive result)

Youngatheart00 · 20/12/2020 11:30

Oh @AHippoNamedBooBooButt so sorry to hear you got a positive result. Take care of yourself!!!!

Still waiting here.

Is there any difference in postal results?

Youngatheart00 · 20/12/2020 12:28

I presume not re postal tests - they still text / email with the result I think? Just depends when the lab receive your test and the clock only starts from them. If it’s sent tracked you can see when it arrived.

@Irre247 that’s just ridiculous. If results are going to take that long they need to start isolating contacts of symptomatic people while you wait for results. As you say by the time your results are in there is no point at all to the test and trace.

Santastealer · 20/12/2020 12:31

Does anyone know how often the tests are collected from a walk through site and taken to the lab? If it’s only once a day then my test at 8am this morning won’t even start it’s journey for nearly 12 hours anyway.

Marmozet · 20/12/2020 12:47

Took a test at 1pm Birmingham. Test centre was absolutely dead. Was told find out today or within 3 days.

Sorry I meant 1pm yesterday doh!
Youngatheart00 · 20/12/2020 12:52

I’ll be a full 3 days at 8pm tonight.

Seems like those who have waited longer are positive although perhaps I’m just reading too much into that.

Stokey · 20/12/2020 13:01

@Youngatheart00 we all took tests on Friday midday and heard back within 24 hours - 3 negative, 1 positive. So think it must just depend on the centre. We went for a drive in one which was super quick while friends who have been to the walk ins have been more like 3-4 days.

Youngatheart00 · 20/12/2020 14:26

@Stokey glad you got them back early. What do you do with that kind of a result though...do you all have to isolate due to the single positive test?

OP posts:
Stokey · 20/12/2020 14:43

Yes I'm afraid so. Tough too as the positive is my 11 year old so can't really isolate her. We're just trying to not touch her and wash hands lots. The good thing is that her symptoms are very mild and she's already feeling much better.

Youngatheart00 · 20/12/2020 14:46

Glad to hear your daughter isn’t suffering. It’s such a huge pain isn’t it!

My son's took around 80hours and is positive. Now the wait for mine! Hope you are not waiting too much longer x

Youngatheart00 · 20/12/2020 15:01

80 hours! Christ! Well that would see me through til tomorrow morning.

Hope your son is ok. Horrid time of year for it all (understatement!)

OP posts:
Santastealer · 20/12/2020 16:00

@Icanseeclearlynow12 I would strongly recommend you write to your MP about that. It’s a disgrace and no wonder cases are rising if contacts aren’t isolated straight away. If you son is son age then his classmates will have continued spreading the virus for days before you got the result.

Icanseeclearlynow12 · 20/12/2020 16:14

I know, it's really not good enough to be waiting all of that time. My only guess is that cases are through the roof here(Tier 4) so they are extra busy?!
Luckily his whole class are already isolating due to their teacher testing positive so no close contacts to inform

Lydiathetattooedlady · 20/12/2020 16:36

Had mine through after 49 hours. Positive.

Marmozet · 20/12/2020 16:55

Still waiting for mine. Can you receive them in the evening?

ISBN111 · 20/12/2020 17:01

Marmozet, i think they send the email as soon as they have the result. So could be 3am. Don’t stay up though!!!

ISBN111 · 20/12/2020 17:02

Hope all the positive people on this thread are doing ok.

CornishTiger · 20/12/2020 17:03
