Took test at a test centre 8pm Thursday. Nothing back yet.

Anyone else waiting or got any insight into average London wait times?

Can’t stop checking my emails and texts Confused

Sorry to hear you're positive. Hope you carry on feeling well. Regardless of your DHs result he needs to isolate for 10 full days after the first day you had symptoms now.

Marmozet · 21/12/2020 14:46

@Youngatheart00

Result through - positive 😫

Am virtually symptomless but at least I know.

Does DH need to bother with his own test or just assume he has it? No children in household.

Oh no I'm sorry!

Sorry it’s positive, but at least now you know. Hope you keep well.

It’s ridiculous it has taken that long to come back, if you had contacts they could all have been spreading it for days and test and trace is pretty pointless now you’ve waited so long!

Santastealer · 21/12/2020 15:16

@Youngatheart00 I wouldn’t bother with a test for DH unless he has symptoms- he will have to isolate for 10 days since your symptoms started anyway.

LemonDrizzles · 21/12/2020 15:36

Sorry to hear this op. Hope it goes ok for you

This.

He has to isolate anyway so a test is pointless.

Don’t assume he has it though. Living with someone doesn’t necessarily mean you get it

LimitIsUp · 21/12/2020 16:16

My dd and I visited a drive through test centre in Eastleigh (near Southampton) on Friday. It was fairly quiet and there was no wait to be swabbed. We got our results back on Saturday evening (she was positive and I was negative). We are now in self isolation

How things have changed - dh developed new cough today and there was no availability at Eastleigh for a test (there were so many free slots last Friday) and he had to drive 30 miles to Bournemouth

Demand has clearly rocketed.

TheSpottedZebra · 21/12/2020 16:22

I'm still waiting. I only tested at home Saturday and sent it off that morning but it feels AGES ago! I feel a bit rubbish, including a tight chest, but not sure if that is real or anxiety/psychosomatic. Not that I am usually either, but these are strange times.

annarack99 · 21/12/2020 16:25

Ours came back in just under 48 hours drive through, and 72 hours home test from point of carrying out test (48 hours from tracked arrival time). Both just received this afternoon. Sussex. Negative.

TheSpottedZebra · 21/12/2020 16:27

Ooh good that you're negative annarack, especially as the cases in Sussex are rocketing.
Were you feeling ill?

TingTastic · 21/12/2020 16:47

I’m pretty sure that demand has rocketed because people are fraudulently getting tests before going to see family members, even though they don’t have the symptoms. Very frustrating for those who have legitimately got (or are trying to get) tests

Youngatheart00 · 21/12/2020 16:57

Yes he has had app notification through now. He needs to isolate until 29th.

Hooray, finally got DS’s negative result. Nearly 56 hours, SE London.

Stokey · 21/12/2020 17:56

@TingTastic some places where the rates are high the council are advising people to get tested even if they don't have symptoms. Not necessarily fraudulent, just because they've said anyone can get tested. They've set up extra mobile stations to cope with demand. We've had 4 positives from Dd1's class this weekend, including one with no symptoms.

Hazelmazel · 21/12/2020 18:07

I've just been for a test today, very easy to get a slot (in south west) but a steady flow of cars through the test centre.
I have a mild cough which started this morning but am bloody knackered and doing anything leaves me totally breathless. I am susceptible to chest infections anyway so get repeated ones through the winter normally, am assuming it's likely to be one of those. Thankfully we had no plans anyway and have already had a food delivery so it won't make much difference either way really.

Not in this area (tier 4). I’ve just looked out of curiosity and nearest test site with availability is 76 miles away! When I got a test a couple of weeks ago I had my pick of tests / sites (at least 3 sites with 5 miles)

Ohmango · 21/12/2020 20:42

Arrgh I just want my result! I'm still well within normal, it's been 33 hours, but I know several people in my area got results in less than 24 hours. I think I feel worse because I'm wondering.

Still no smell or taste. Regular-ish very dry cough and my chest now hurts when I cough, but that could be muscular. Had about three instances of a kind of brain fog today where I felt a bit like you do when you fall back to sleep and dream after your alarm, or dream when half asleep, and you kind of wake up not quite able to remember what you were dreaming about but knowing it was inexplicable, if that make sense. Weirdly like a dream while I know they happened I can't remember what they were about Confused

After all that I bet I'm just going to be a redfaced hypochondriac with a cold and a negative result soon Grin

Marmozet · 21/12/2020 21:02

Still no results for me. Anyone get a
Sickness and cramps at night with Covid?

Rose87777 · 21/12/2020 21:07

We were tested 11am on sat at a drive through and no result yet. I only had a mild sore throat (Friday) and a slight change in sense of smell. Both now gone. I just want to get out the house now! 2 kids age 3 and 6 months who are climbing the walls

LimitIsUp · 21/12/2020 21:55

That's exactly what it is Tingtastic - symptomless people getting tested before seeing relatives. As aforementioned, dd (18) tested positive on Saturday. Dh rang his staff this morning to advise that he won't be going in because he is self isolating due to dd's test result. No where in the guidance does it suggest that his staff need a test because his dd (whom they have never met) has tested positive - and yet they all got very het up because they are seeing Nan / Aunty Mabel etc over Christmas and promptly booked tests

Santastealer · 21/12/2020 22:08

DH is really hoping our result comes back overnight as he can’t miss another day of work (NHS and his department are really short).

I’ve cancelled all plans until Xmas day anyway so it doesn’t matter that much to me, but DH really needs to be in work. There should be a fast track system for key worker staff and families to queue jump all those Susan’s who just fancied a test to relieve their conscience when they meet Aunt Barbara on Friday.

Inpersuitofhappiness · 21/12/2020 22:28

FWIW in atkeast 1 area thats T4 tests have been offered to all children 11-18 and members of their family who share the same household as them, this was less than a week ago, it was supposed to make christmas easier and safer, but advice hasn't been updated in our area since Christmas is cancelled.

Ohmango · 21/12/2020 22:30

My sibling is tested weekly for their job and usually gets a result by 4am the next morning. They are still waiting for the results of their test from FRIDAY. There is no hope.

DH is self employed so as long as he has to isolate, that's no money coming in from him.

TheSpottedZebra · 21/12/2020 23:02

Just got my test result through (positive) - for I got a home test in the midday post on Saturday.
