Youngatheart00 · 19/12/2020 17:39

Took test at a test centre 8pm Thursday. Nothing back yet.

Anyone else waiting or got any insight into average London wait times?

Can’t stop checking my emails and texts Confused

Tested at home Tuesday and posted back same day (greater london). Result text this afternoon.

dollyknocker · 20/12/2020 17:19

Negative, should have said!

Myshinynewname · 20/12/2020 17:26

I hope you get your result soon OP. Just to mention though, if you test positive then your whole household has to continue to isolate, so your dh won't be able to do the Christmas shop either.
If your struggling to get food in I think Morrison's offer same/next day delivery if you're isolating even if you don't have a slot booked.

Msgiggles30 · 20/12/2020 17:34

Test 2.30pm on Friday at a drive through site and results today at 7am. Am in South Wales with a rate of nearly 700 per 100k so very busy here.

dinodiva · 20/12/2020 19:31

Test 9.30am yesterday for my 2 year old (he had a temp on Friday evening, was absolutely fine by the morning ). SE London. Hate the waiting!

unique1986 · 20/12/2020 19:34

Can someone explain the test?
Also did you feel you might end up getting covid from the nurse ?

Santastealer · 20/12/2020 19:48

@unique1986 I’ve done tests at drive through and walk through centres and there are no nurses. You administer the test to yourself whilst there.

Youngatheart00 · 20/12/2020 20:13

Stiiiiiiill waiting!

Yes, my test was self administer at a test centre too. It’s not nice but not a big deal at all.

I think the staff at the test centres are more vulnerable than we are; they are stuck there for hours on end assisting thousands of people.

31hrs, Northern England, Negative.

MotherExtraordinaire · 20/12/2020 22:52

Since arriving at lab, 53 hours. No result. SE.

Another family member took 6 days. 😕

Youngatheart00 · 20/12/2020 23:16

Am at 76 hours now. I do think it’ll be negative as I now feel fine....but who knows.

I have isolated whilst waiting but know there will be many who won’t. They need to get things quicker than this.

I also don't think it will be posi2. And agree many would be out and about as normal.

It's weird as get daily calls if positive, but no contact calls before the results. I'd say its needed more before the results if this long. Even if positive, I'll only have a couple of days left to isolate at this rate, due to issues even getting a test as that took 36 hours due to some postcode issue.

Inpersuitofhappiness · 21/12/2020 05:49

DD having her test at 8am today, can't sleep im so worried! Just after I thought we had escaped it!

Anyway, for those of you unable to get out and get food, try amazon Prime with their morrisons deliveries.
Theyre the only place I could find a slot, booked yesterday have a delivery this afternoon. I contacted customer services and asked for a contact free delivery as were self isolating. I hope it helps!

LemonDrizzles · 21/12/2020 07:38

I'm also still waiting. I just want to know.

Bumsnet2021 · 21/12/2020 07:44

OP you still have to isolate regardless of if positive or not. The fact that you said this yourself in one of your first posts and then talk about doing the food shop because you don’t trust DH is nuts.

Also, feeling fine is nothing to do with it. The majority of people who would give a positive result if tested on any given day will never feel anything other than fine.

Just stay at hone and do you bit same as millions of others.

Not available in our postcode sadly. No slots from any supermarket for 10 days, delivery or click and collect.

We’ve got very little left in so I’m preying we get a result soon. Otherwise it’s going to be pasta and tinned tomatoes for Christmas dinner!

dinodiva · 21/12/2020 08:02

Still waiting here too.

@Santastealer I’ve discovered the Sainsbury’s Chop Chop app - I’ve put in an order this morning that should be delivered before midday. Limited number of items, and probably horrendous delivery cost, but better than nothing!

Inpersuitofhappiness · 21/12/2020 08:07

@Santastealer, sorry to hear that deliveroo for groceries?

Tyranttoddler · 21/12/2020 08:08

@Santastealer Have you tried Iceland? Or doing an aldi/coop/tesco shop or whatever using ubereats or deliveroo? Fingers crossed for good news.

Teenytinyratsass · 21/12/2020 08:14

Took my test at 5.30pm on Saturday, no results yet after almost 39 hours.
Am in the north west-has to travel 50 miles to a drive through test centre and it was practically empty!

Santastealer · 21/12/2020 08:15

@Tyranttoddler one of the downsides of living rurally is we can’t even get takeaways delivered!

My only option is to get my shielded Mum to go to a shop for me and drop off but I’m obviously reluctant too. We do have a local butchers store/shop so I might give them a call and see if they could help. If they can’t deliver they might be willing to box everything up and place it in my car boot.

Tyranttoddler · 21/12/2020 08:26

Butchers is a great shout. They might be willing to get milk etc for you too if you pay them a bit more? Really feel for you.

Serendipity26 · 21/12/2020 09:29

91 hours wait and counting for postal test.

ISBN111 · 21/12/2020 09:34

Good luck with the butcher. Our local veg shop have been amazing; they’ll pop to the supermarket and get a few things and deliver with your veg.

This is the reason why the anti-stocking-up brigade get on my nerves; throughout this pandemic we have needed to be stocked up in case we suddenly need to isolate.

It’s not always straightforward to get stuff delivered for everyone.

Santastealer · 21/12/2020 10:04

@Serendipity26 that’s absolutely bonkers!

I’m now thinking I shouldn’t have tested my little one. He has a bad cough but it’s alongside a cold and he is fine in himself so I’m sure it isn’t COVID! I was trying to do the right think but if we miss Christmas because the Goverment can’t get tests back in a reasonable time I will be furious.
