Not if they really get the over 80s vaccinated as quickly as they say they will.

The average age of a Covid death is 80+. If the over 80s are vaccinated there'll be a dramatic reduction in the death rate and hospitalisations and there'll be no justification for further lockdowns.

Susanwouldntlikeit · 06/12/2020 14:09

No.
With the most vulnerable vaccinated there will be no public support.

ItsAlwaysSunnyOnMN · 06/12/2020 14:23

Of course there shall still need to be restrictions once everyone (who can be and who shall comply) over 80 is vaccinated

It’s still a highly contagious virus that makes many people very unwell who shall still possibly need to be hospitalised who those people are we simply don’t know. And then we still have a considerable percentage of the popular who would be at moderate risk

We shall have restrictions around us for sometime

Put people getting ill is a fact of life. The numbers will be so small, they won't be able to justify continuing restrictions. There are lots of illness that can make some people very ill. We don't close everything down for them.

Yes, tier 3 by mid Jan, dither dither, lockdown late Jan for 4 weeks again. But I think it will be the last one.

Ghostlyglow · 06/12/2020 14:32

Yes. We're in tier 3 here anyway so it hasn't really stopped, but yes there will be.

Lardlizard · 06/12/2020 14:35

If you think it’s been done to death go and read something else ? I’ve not expressed an opinion either way I’m simply asking others what they think

So what do you think of the replies you have had so far @Lardlizard?

Why?

Are you doing a research project of some sort, seems weird to ask everyone else but not give your own opinion.

There are plenty of examples of what other people think on the numerous other current threads asking exactly the same thing.

Are you hoping for a different response here?

stayathomer · 06/12/2020 15:38

but a large proportion of them were very very elderly and would have died anyway.
I see it so differently, everyone who died this year potentially could be alive now

stayathomer · 06/12/2020 15:39

By the way yes, there'll be something in January, I'd say numbers are going to be huge

fishykettles · 06/12/2020 15:46

Yes if the queues at local shops today are anything to go by. I haven't been out but it's been mentioned all over the local spotted page. People have been queuing outside b and m for an hour or more to get in.

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 06/12/2020 16:14

Why would anyone love lockdown? What a load of shit.

People might want to keep others safe and stop spreading it. But no one lives lockdown, it’s shit.

fishykettles · 06/12/2020 16:15

Idiots like these people in a tier three area will cause it. The idiots who let it happen and the idiots who went.

Actually you’d be surprised, I’ve seen a few people on here saying they’ve loved it as it’s taken the pressure of them in terms of social engagements etc. Not a view I’ve encountered in real life though so pretty sure it’s a minority.

They do if you read threads in the proper corona topic, lots of people have enjoyed being able to work at home, not have the pressure of socialising etc

Just because you don't like it doesn't mean that everyone else feels the same.

naughtyelfs · 06/12/2020 16:43

Makes sense as Jan is a bit of a do nothing month anyway

DeeCeeCherry · 06/12/2020 16:46

How does anyone know? All they can do is guess and speculate. Presumably nobody here is privy to government meetings on this. On the seperate (thank God) Corona board you can have fun discussing to your heart's content.

LilyMumsnet · 06/12/2020 16:47

We're just moving this over to the coronavirus topic. Flowers

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 06/12/2020 16:49

I think they'll just put most places into Tier 3.

kittensarecute · 06/12/2020 16:57

No! We can't keep having lockdowns.

naughtyelfs · 06/12/2020 16:59

I think London will go into tier 3 which is pretty much a lockdown isn't it?

Racoonworld · 06/12/2020 17:00

Yes, given that a large proportion of people on here seem to want to break the Christmas rules. I think end of January is likely.

User158340 · 06/12/2020 17:03

They'll just shut the pubs again. It'll be what tier 3 is now but on a more national scale.

They have announced a phased return to universities in Jan which will help.
