@Ilikewinter

I was certain we would be in the tier 3 group, from what ive heard its only Liverpool going to be in tier 3, but Nottingham is sky high so I dont understand the thinking!.

I know Manchesters rates have dropped slightly, maybe Andy Burham threw such a strop Boris didnt want to upset him even more.

If anything our restrictions have eased as we can now meet people in our gardens...all a bit wierd really.

A lot of Tory MP's as well in Greater Manchester
TazMac · 13/10/2020 20:12

There’s no point locking down Liverpool and surrounds plus Lancashire but not GM. Unless the police the “borders” strictly. People will just travel.

Then there's Cheshire as well which borders GM and Liverpool city region.
TazMac · 13/10/2020 20:20

Yes and all well connected by train and road. People are still allowed to travel for work, education and health. So who’s going to know if you jump on the train from St Helens for a bit of shopping, dinner and drinks in M/cr.

CrappleUmble · 13/10/2020 20:29

Well not a lot but several. Including the chairman of the 1922 committee, who has been giving Boris a degree of shit lately.

Lollypop701 · 13/10/2020 20:32

Bolton decamped to Wigan and manchester when they shut the pubs. So Liverpool will just go on their travels. I like Burnham and if people behave he might win this standoff, which would be great. Tbf I’m happy as long as we’re free this weekend to travel. After that I’m hibernating

Devlesko · 13/10/2020 21:22

Lollypop

I don't go to pubs and restaurants but heard that Bolton decamped to Westhoughton and then Atherton to Manchester.
Forgotten the name of the road.

WeMarchOn · 13/10/2020 22:08

Is it wrong i find AB attractive?

bingowingsmcgee · 13/10/2020 22:18

Ooh no march I would.

The pubs in atherton started asking for ID apparently... wouldn’t let bolton people in😂

TazMac · 14/10/2020 14:59

@Lollypop701

Now there’s an idea...

Hedge01 · 15/10/2020 09:56

Looks like that's it then, I hope not but AB is looking tired and defeated.

Devlesko · 15/10/2020 12:48

Any announcement yet?
They are dragging it out.

CrappleUmble · 15/10/2020 13:00

Matt Hancock said no further decisions have been made, according to Jen Williams on twitter. Not when they will be though.

TazMac · 15/10/2020 13:05

There are possibly behind the scenes legal wranglings going on.

Burnham has threatened to take Government to court if they impose Tier 3 on GM. So I guess Government lawyers are working out whether or not that will stand up.

CrappleUmble · 15/10/2020 13:17

I would imagine so.

Devlesko · 15/10/2020 14:07

Eh, it has the general strike written all over it Grin
Andy Burnham will not cave in, or he'll be a pie eater, he'll not like that coming from Leigh.
If anyone understands what I'm on about say "lobby".

TazMac · 15/10/2020 14:38

@Devlesko

I understand but I think Burnham has been backed into a corner. Interesting weeks ahead.

The80sweregreat · 15/10/2020 16:36

A B is lovely but his eyebrows are too 3D for me!
He was seething during that presser today about the tier 3 restrictions.
At least his fighting for the people ( I don't see this as a purely political move myself)
What the outcome will be is to be seen. I don't live there , so no idea what people feel about him as mayor or anything else.
( I am guessing his also against a full lock down too , or would he see that as fairer? )
What a mess it all is.

Rosehip10 · 15/10/2020 16:45

I thought Burnham said he would accept a national circuit break?

The80sweregreat · 15/10/2020 16:52

Rosehip , I'm not sure what his feelings are about a circuit break. I don't think the government want any of that to happen so threatening them with legal stuff is probably their only option now to make them comply.

boriselbow · 15/10/2020 17:03

I read that he supports a circuit breaker but doubts how much difference tier 3 measures in local areas will make to the spread of Covid, whilst they will certainly be a disaster for businesses (with insufficient financial support for businesses and employees). I think I agree with him TBH- tier 3 seems like the worst of all worlds

Devlesko · 15/10/2020 17:10

Even though all Politicians are self serving in the end, I do think that AB cares about and understands Manchester and Gtr Manchester people, too.
I like his eyebrows but mine are bushy Blush
I like that you would still see him in the stix with the other supporters, no special box etc, and he hardly missed a home game if he could help it.
Useless info here but the high school he attended a bog standard comp in Leigh, turned out a disproportionate amount who went on to do big things, I know there was an Olympian, amongst others.

TokenGinger · 15/10/2020 21:24
