So I've seen this in a few posts.

The idea that there is something "else" going on or that the restrictions being put in place aren't for the virus, they are for "something bigger"

So would anyone care to share what they think this "something bigger" actually is, rather than vague mutterings on other posts?

Government practising control on the population for shits and giggles whilst the economy goes tits up?

I guess that the conspiracy theory people will say that they have 'let it rip thorough the elderly ' with their terrible handling at the beginning and how much care homes were affected by lack of ppe and letting covid patients back into their homes from hospital.
Which is all true and it was it only because of social media and people highlighting these problems that led to a bit more of a structured approach and the staff getting the right equipment.
Eugenics was mentioned to me by a nurse back in March. Survival of the fittest. Some actually want this to happen. No more lockdowns or anything. The Sweden approach. I've heard it all !
People will always have theories and views about this but there is also a school of thought that why prolong life if someone is very very old and hasnt any quality of life at all? Not that I'm suggesting they should just let people die , but it's how some might think about this.
Let's face it, the government may also be saving a lot of money here too especially the ones not getting cancer treatments because of the virus. Makes my own head hurt just thinking about it all.

I don't get why people would say about population control. If it was then surely they'd have just left it free to wipe millions and millions of elderly people, rather than essentially shutting the world down to stop millions more dying.

It's impossible to get. It doesn't make sense, much like the idea that masks are dangerously full of bacteria and killing people left, right and centre. You have to ignore the facts to believe it (like builders wearing a N95 mask and being fine). It's nutty.

I'm pretty sure it's the pigeon thing. The pigeon that lived in my garden disappeared around the start of lockdown, and hasn't come back!

The eugenics theory would make perfect sense as a conspiracy if the government had gone for the herd immunity approach, but they haven’t, all of them with the possible exception of the Swedes, the Brazilians and bits of the US have gone for extraordinarily economically costly lockdowns.

If they had gone for herd immunity would there be the support for it?

Some dickhead on my local newspaper's Facebook page posited the theory today that it is a "great reset" and we are being taken back 100 years to save the planet forcibly, everyone goes out less, Sunday trading will stop, licensing laws will revert back to what they were years ago, car ownership will be rare, no foreign travel because all the airlines will be forced to go bust, holidays in the UK will be the only ones we are allowed, no immigration will be permitted, and it is all planned by the EU and Illuminati with Greta Thunberg as a consultant. I read it with my jaw open.

It is the Great Reset, straight from the World Economic Forum's website. Some of the detail your friend mentioned is not in this article but elsewhere on WEF and UN, WHO sites. Long most people will probably die waiting for they life saving treatments, mental health of the nation is at a all time low, the suicide rate will be sky high in the new year!!

By the time this fiasco is finished there will be six million unemployed, loads of people will lose there homes.

By next week we will all be having to wear mask at work, in the street, walking up a bloody mountain.

Also, I could also accept one or two governments handling it badly, but one could be forgiven for thinking that something is distinctly off, when almost every govt seems to be following a policy of disinformation, senseless u turns, contradicting rules and refs that people struggle to follow etc, etc. Why did France sell its PPE stocks to Morocco just before Covid officially arrived?
