Looking like lockdown is on the cards, but my area likely won't be included.

How do you know which bits of Notts are included?

Waxonwaxoff0 · 06/10/2020 16:55

I don't, but I'm under Derbyshire council even though my area is classed as outer Nottingham.

Me too Wax. Isn't it Nott Univ pushing the statistics up though?

HasaDigaEebowai · 06/10/2020 16:59

If you're in Long Eaton I suspect you'll be caught won't you? It would be weird for Chilwell to be included but Long Eaton not to be.

But then the boundary has to be somewhere. Its unlikely just to be the city council limits since this would exclude big parts of Nottingham. IMO it will probably be wide enough to encompass all of the university campuses.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 06/10/2020 16:59

Yes, I think it's outbreaks at the university. Looks like Sheffield are having the same issue.

HasaDigaEebowai · 06/10/2020 17:00

There are large numbers of students with it at both universities.

kittybee · 06/10/2020 17:02

This has just been put on our local Facebook site as potential lockdown areas.

Anyone in Nottingham?
Waxonwaxoff0 · 06/10/2020 17:05

kitty I have no idea how that would work! Confused

OP posts:
kittybee · 06/10/2020 17:06

Me neither.

HasaDigaEebowai · 06/10/2020 17:07

I think thats the city council limits

TalkingIntoTheEther · 06/10/2020 17:16

hasa how do you know chilwell is going going to be included?

girlicorne · 06/10/2020 17:16

We are in the county rather than the city. our borough only has 28/100000. Local lockdown won’t have much impact on us personally, we don’t go to people’s houses or have people round. I m happy to do whatever if it means the DC can stay in school though.

PollyPelargonium52 · 06/10/2020 17:17

Well I dont live in any of those areas on the list. We pay council tax to Erewash so I wd object to being perceived as Nottingham on this occasion. However I do hope the situation rapidly improves for all concerned. Not the best.

NuttyinNotts · 06/10/2020 17:25

@kittybee

This has just been put on our local Facebook site as potential lockdown areas.
That's just listing which areas come under Nottingham city council as opposed to Nottinghamshire. The Post has OH so helpfully published that list in case people don't know.
HasaDigaEebowai · 06/10/2020 17:34

I don't, I just meant that chilwell is Broxtowe (Notts) and Long Eaton is erewash (Derbyshire) but it would be odd to have lockdown in one and not the other given that they merge into one another.

My bet however is that it will either be those households/properties who pay council tax to Nottingham City Council or it will be the entirety of what people know as "Nottingham" i.e out to Long Eaton/Stapleford, up to Hucknall and Redhill and out to cover Clifton (and the university campuses in Clifton).

girlicorne · 06/10/2020 17:38

We are one of those post codes but over the county line not within the city limits. Like I say it doesn’t effect us one bit as we don’t socialise in peoples houses or even really meet up with people but it’s interesting how it will work.

Thirtyrock39 · 06/10/2020 17:42

Beeston has loads of students living there and people who work at the uni so I'm at surprised that wouldn't be included (though my family are all there so pleased for them)

TalkingIntoTheEther · 06/10/2020 17:42

Oh I see, thought you might have some inside info! I’m (selfishly) hoping the lockdown is limited to the city as we are county, although some boroughs within the county have had high numbers recently so I suppose they might be included too.

HasaDigaEebowai · 06/10/2020 17:52

Evening post article is implying it will be City Council postcode areas.

Nemma96 · 06/10/2020 18:21

When is this meant to be happening? I'm terrible and didn't even know the numbers have gone up. Thought nottinghams numbers were low

PollyPelargonium52 · 06/10/2020 18:25

They were low until recently .....

HasaDigaEebowai · 06/10/2020 18:39

Expected to be before the weekend

violetfern · 06/10/2020 18:43

We are one of the city postcodes but COVID tracing app still saying medium risk here, seems that it’s concentrated around student areas so frustrating that might stop us from seeing family, cousins being able to play with each other etc due to what appears to be lax distancing/parties etc amongst the student population. Although I do have some sympathy for them as I can’t imagine what it’s like to start uni With all this going on the having to isolate on my own! Frustrating part will be not having an exit plan and just living in limbo like Leicester etc

Waxonwaxoff0 · 06/10/2020 18:58

The numbers were low until the universities went back, that's where a lot of the new cases are.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 06/10/2020 18:59

What exactly do the local lockdowns entail as I'm not sure? Is it just no mixing with households or do pubs have to close etc? If we live outside the lockdown areas can we not travel into them?
