Looking like lockdown is on the cards, but my area likely won't be included.

The Post now reporting that restrictions will be county wide, not just the city.

WaffleCash · 07/10/2020 16:27

It seems that they're averaging it across the county rather than district by district. Rushcliffe has almost double our rate.

Toddlerteaplease · 07/10/2020 16:33

@HasaDigaEebowai just looking through the patients. There are non younger than 35. And all have loads of co morbidities. Mainly 65+.

Was supposed to be staying with my sister In the Lake District next week, but she won't want me to stay, so rebooked elsewhere instead. I'll be on my own so it will be ok.

HasaDigaEebowai · 07/10/2020 17:02

That's surprising. My BF is a consultant in the same hospital and has said they've had really poorly students in. Anyway, I won't argue since I'm only hearing it second hand.

DominaShantotto · 07/10/2020 17:12

I'm operating on two principles here:

  1. The Nottingham Post is talking out of its arse and wetting its pants over the prospect of it.
  2. Working on the general assumption we'll be hit as almost up to the county border with Derbyshire... if we're not it'll be a nice bonus.

It's all going to get really nasty toward the students (more than already) when it hits - the perception that they've somehow "caused" this (they haven't) - the resentment and simmering hate is already bubbling away nicely. That worries me.

DominaShantotto · 07/10/2020 17:13

And if everywhere else is anything to go by it'll be randomly announced on Twitter at like 11pm at night with no clarification or anything just to ramp up stress levels for people not knowing if they're affected or not.

Carriemac · 07/10/2020 17:22

So many asymptomatic students pushing up the numbers , and I do believe the vast majority of them have been compliant and well behaved .

picklemewalnuts · 07/10/2020 18:16

Has anyone heard anything about evacuating two accommodation blocks because of a fire hazards? Not COVID related apparently. Don't know what they are doing with the 400 odd catered students!

Toddlerteaplease · 07/10/2020 19:16

What is going on? Why the delay in announcing anything the restrictions?

Waxonwaxoff0 · 07/10/2020 19:20

The latest I've seen is that the plan is restrictions for the whole of Nottinghamshire including Mansfield.

OP posts:
withinacceptabletolerances · 07/10/2020 19:23

Evening Post (or whatever it's called these days) is reporting City and County and the County Council have asked everyone today not to socialise indoors 'ahead of an announcement' so I guess that means it's likely to include the county too. Gutted.

Spottyspottyladybird · 07/10/2020 19:29

I'm Notts and have also heard its likely going to be City and County that are put under further lockdown measures... I think like others have suggested the outbreaks at the univeristy and the prisons have shot the numbers up. I also have links to the hospital and I don't think there is a huge increase in admissions which is a positive if anything....

WaffleCash · 07/10/2020 20:45

Ashfield, Mansfield and Bassetlaw below England average but likely to have same restrictions as rest of the county from what I've just read.

JacobReesMogadishu · 07/10/2020 22:23

If they do the whole county that will include small villages about 40 miles from nottingham which seems overkill.

BogRollBOGOF · 07/10/2020 23:24

I feel so sorry for students. Either they've had 6 months of disruption to their degrees, or for freshers, had y13 buggered up. It's hardly surprising that this has turned into a mega version of fresher's flu having gone through a succession of colds with the DCs since they returned to school.

Affecting the whole county is grossly disproportionate. The hotspots are clearly focused on the student areas. Aside from the disruption to students, especially those in accommodation such as halls, it's not such a bad demographic. Students' interactions with the wider community are quite limited so it's naturally relatively self containing, and the majority stand to have good outcomes after mild illness, if not assymptomatic. There will be outliers and I hope those suffering more will be minimal and be well cared for, but the odds are more favourable for the typical student demographic. I hope transmission settles in the next few weeks as people have been exposed and responded or recovered.

It is a messy county boundary (interesting during my supply teaching days...) I am further west but my life does pass the county boundary and I have friends within a few miles of the boundary on either side.

I absolutely don't blame students and between disruption to their studies and emoloyment opportunities, the anti-Covid meaures have hit them very hard and will continue to do so long term.

Thirtyrock39 · 08/10/2020 08:17

Why is there little official about this? I think I've just upset all my beeston relatives with the evening post report but can't find anything on bbc news that is up to date and mentions county?

picklemewalnuts · 08/10/2020 08:21

This email is saying Gedling and Ashfield are not on the watchlist.

The local authority can close pubs etc wherever they want, but the socialising in people's homes has to be stopped by government ministers.

Re visiting family etc, I thunk it depends on your and their exposure. If you or they are in a hotspot but rarely going out, you can still mix. If one of you is a teacher/medic etc in a hotspot, then you shouldn't mix.

When I went to DM's, I was no risk heading to her. My biggest exposure was the service station on the way there.

picklemewalnuts · 08/10/2020 08:22

@Thirtyrock39 sign up and see what the beeston alert says.

HasaDigaEebowai · 08/10/2020 08:22

I think the Nottingham measures might possibly have been overtaken by the general tighter restrictions that are apparently coming in on Momday.

The Post would never cope if that was the case! They’re trembling in anticipation
WaffleCash · 08/10/2020 08:30

Yes, I can't find the BBC report I read yesterday that talked about county wide restrictions but mentioned that only 4 out of 7 districts had rates that would warrant this. The article today about tighter restrictions from Monday doesn't mention Nottingham at all.

Mydogisagentleman · 08/10/2020 08:46

I am interested in this, my DD started at NTU 2 weeks ago.
I have booked a room at the Premier inn to visit on 22.10.20
The BBC teletext news suggested that overnight stays will not be allowed but I can’t find any definite news.

prettygreenteacup · 08/10/2020 08:54

I'm in Rushcliffe and work at the university. Apparently it'll be by tomorrow we will have some sort of official restrictions laid out...

WaffleCash · 08/10/2020 09:08

If they're overhauling restrictions and levels across the country on Monday I think it's unlikely they'll introduce anything new tomorrow beyond the guidance already given. It's confusing enough as it is.

Technically Nottingham isn't on the watch list either!

The new watchlist is released every Thursday I think and this has all blown up since then. We obviously will be on the updated one.
