Looking like lockdown is on the cards, but my area likely won't be included.

Following along as we're under Nottingham City Council and live in the same town as a uni campus.

Had not heard anything about this until someone said we were going into lockdown on Friday. Thought they were just talking rubbish Blush

PuppyMonkey · 08/10/2020 09:50

We're in Il'son keeping an eye on all this. DD's BF has to go into NTU for his first actual lecture this academic year on Friday and we're all telling him not to go as he'll never get out again. Grin Sad

I absolutely don’t blame the students - the authorities allowing/encouraging this to happen are another matter.

I’m in a village and think the restrictions may as well be countywide. Partly because we’ll have floods of people coming out here if not, and partly because I feel we should all be making a team effort. It’s also far easier to understand and follow if it applies to everyone.

GrumpySausage · 08/10/2020 10:08

I'm in Eastwood, so near the border of Nottinghamshire /Derbyshire but classed as Broxtowe Borough Council. Its looking increasingly likely it'll be countywide.

I'm pleased schools are likely to stay open but very disappointed that I won't be able to socialise with my parents. I usually visit them daily. They provide childcare for my kids too which I belive may be able to continue but I'm unclear how till work? So I'm not allowed in the house but the kids are?

Im really starting to struggle with it all again and feel like there's an ever constant cloud over life.

Pretty silly that people up in Bassetlaw villages 40 odd miles from Nottingham will be restricted but Sandiacre and Long Eaton could be exempt as in Derbyshire even though arguably part of greater Nottingham

We live half a mile on the wrong side of the border! If it's going to happen it's going to happen I guess. Unless they do a Leicester and whack a huge area up and then remove areas from it after a couple of weeks once they see where is the real issue - which I can't see them bothering to do to be honest. I am absolutely out of fucks to give about worrying what's going to happen next now - I've given up.

I kind of feel now they WANT to do another national lockdown lite but don't dare so they're trying to join up all the local lockdowns and pull it off by stealth.

WaffleCash · 08/10/2020 10:42

If they don't do it county wide but rather district by district, it's likely our neighbours across the road will be under tighter restrictions but we'll escape. Which is also pretty silly.

Defining a Greater Nottingham boundary would be the sensible approach - so include West Bridgford, Beeston, Arnold, Carlton, Netherfield, Toton etc. basically anywhere outside the city boundary that the majority of people think of as Nottingham city, but is technically in a different district.

picklemewalnuts · 08/10/2020 12:06

Gedling are 'asking' people not to socialise in each other's houses.

LilyLongJohn · 08/10/2020 12:08

Just seen something about Newark and Sherwood area being high

GrumpySausage · 08/10/2020 12:14

Broxtowe Council are also asking for houses not to mix.

Any idea when the government usually announce the next local lockdown? I though Thursday lunchtime ish but not sure.

NuttyinNotts · 08/10/2020 12:53

It looks l8ke because of the change of plan introducing tiers of restrictions, we might get nothing this week. Announcement on Monday and no restrictions in place until Wednesday. So basically left to fester for an extra week since the problem came to light because of a policy change.

As off 6.10 there were 42 suspected and 47 confirmed.

Toddlerteaplease · 08/10/2020 15:05

At Qmc

BlackeyedSusan · 08/10/2020 15:08

Thanks everyone for keeping us updated.

picklemewalnuts · 08/10/2020 15:13

So near enough 90 cases admitted at qmc? Any idea of the ages?

Toddlerteaplease · 08/10/2020 16:04

All elderlynwoth other issues from what I can see.

picklemewalnuts · 08/10/2020 17:31

Thank you.

I need to work out whether we can visit an elderly relative recovering from surgery. It would be two families in one house. Six people all together. She won't be able to sit outside. They are in rural Derbyshire. We are just outside Nottingham city boundary. Sigh.

picklemewalnuts · 08/10/2020 17:34

This was interesting, suggesting it's definitely having an impact.

Highest rates in the country now. Sad

How has it gone so high so quickly?

OP posts:
WaffleCash · 08/10/2020 18:53

Just seen the BBC article, Nottingham city rate is ten times that of Mansfield but suggesting the same restrictions for both?

re the QMC cases
they may not be admitted for covid, just admitted for anything and tested positive.

NotTerfNorCis · 08/10/2020 20:04

I'm in Nottingham. Last night I saw a restaurant that was full of students. True, there were no more than 6 at a table, but the tables were close together... This is how it spreads.

Rubyduby26 · 08/10/2020 20:16

We are in Sandiacre and really can't work out if we will be included in the lock down as our address is Notts but we come under erewash council.
