Looking like lockdown is on the cards, but my area likely won't be included.

There needs to be more info out asap if it is going to happen.

TalkingIntoTheEther · 06/10/2020 19:53

There is an article in the Nottingham post speculating what the rules would be, to be honest it sounds like the only thing to change would be households mixing indoors/gardens. According to the post other local lockdowns have kept pubs open, gyms open, households mixing outdoors. It seems very different to the national lockdown in March.

TheQueef · 06/10/2020 19:58

7% of the population of Sheff are the students and they've all just arrived at once.
It won't take long to seep in to the community the Uni is a massive employer here.

Flev · 06/10/2020 20:42

Beeston here, I can't believe we won't be included as we know the students are a factor and the campus is right in the boundary, with lots living here. Really hoping not, as we have plans to visit my family next week 200 miles away for the first time since Christmas. Going to be absolutely gutted if we can't meet them.

TingeOfTheGinge · 06/10/2020 21:09

@Nemma96

When is this meant to be happening? I'm terrible and didn't even know the numbers have gone up. Thought nottinghams numbers were low
Yeah... not low any more!

Everything I've seen has suggested it will be Nottingham city only. Fairly non sensical if you know the city boundaries but since when do covid regulations make sense!

We're outside, but go to the gym and pool inside but sounds like it's only meeting other households that would change anyway.

TheOrchidKiller · 06/10/2020 21:20

@kittybee saw that same info on Nottingham Post website.
Live within one of those postcodes but in one of the exclusion areas.
Rarely socialise myself, but it will impact on many people who rely on informal support networks with family & friends. Worried for local businesses.

Feel quite down about it really.

FATEdestiny · 06/10/2020 21:22

Broxtowe borough and Rushcliffe borough are both very high (>150 per 100k).

TheOrchidKiller · 06/10/2020 21:24

@Flev feel for you. Have a similar family situation. Got a visit in last week- just in time, it seems.

I don't know about Nottingham but some of my family are under local restrictions but none of them are about travelling, they can go wherever they like in England, I thought only Wales stop people travelling but as with all the rules I recognise that could have changed.
picklemewalnuts · 06/10/2020 21:28

I'm right on the county/city border. I'll be taking individual decisions- weighing up risk for myself.

FastAndCurious · 06/10/2020 21:30

I’m in Nottingham but county rather than city. I didn’t realise numbers had increased quite so dramatically either!

BlackeyedSusan · 06/10/2020 21:35

children were due to travel there at the weekend so hoping they still can. Just done two weeks with one who was off school isolating.

BlackeyedSusan · 06/10/2020 21:37

I would be surprised if they did not include Beeston. Student central though it may have changed over the years since I knew it reasonably well.

Hoping that the outskirts are not included.

Flev · 06/10/2020 21:45

@PleasantVille we can probably still travel but if we can't meet indoors then I can't see my dad as he is housebound. Not sure if only being able to see my mum would make it better or worse. My daughter is nearly 2 and they've only ween her on a screen for the last 10 months, they are missing all her growing up...

Marmaladecake · 06/10/2020 22:00

I'm in Beeston too, waves to Flev Smile
I've not read anything today about restrictions in the county, so imagine the restricted area will stop just short of Beeston. I agree that that would however seem a bit odd when there are lots of students in Beeston.

I'm going to meet a friend at a pub tomorrow, feeling like it's a bit naughty now, but also feeling like I should see her while I still can.

janetmendoza · 06/10/2020 22:05

Beeston has to be included surely? If its student driven, then every second student lives in Beeston! DS drove his student girl friend back to Nottingham last week and was there literally long enough to unload the car into her student accommodation. Now he has tested positive - hardly any cases locally and he doesn't go out, so realistically he must have caught it there.

WaffleCash · 06/10/2020 22:18

Only postgrads lived in Beeston in my day :-)

picklemewalnuts · 06/10/2020 22:21

It's partly decided by the local authority, so City can choose different restrictions from County. City could go harsh, while County continues gently gently.

County can lock down specific boroughs/districts, though. Broxtowe for example.

Toddlerteaplease · 06/10/2020 22:35

I'm
In Lenton and work at QMC. I agree that I think the university is the issue. I don't think we've had this weeks briefing with how many covids there are in the trust. But it was only about 22 last week.

Toddlerteaplease · 06/10/2020 22:36

My friend is at a nursing home in Bullwell and they stopped visiting about 4 weeks ago.

Toddlerteaplease · 06/10/2020 22:38

I would be very surprised if Beeston & Chillwelll were not included manly due to the proximity to the university and town.

IDSNeighbour · 06/10/2020 22:43

Is Cotgrave classed as Nottingham?

I want to go and see my sister at the weekend but not sure if you can travel into lockdown areas (my area in the South East is still very low - but rising slowly.)

HasaDigaEebowai · 06/10/2020 22:45

I’ve heard from doctors at qmc that they’ve had some students in really poorly from covid and the numbers have shut up.
