How long are everyone’s test results taking?

We are about to go for a family coronavirus test this PM as I’ve developed a cough and sore throat... dreading a potentially long wait Sad

How long is everyone else waiting? Is anyone actually getting results within 48 hours anymore?

Thanks !

Took my brother 5 days to even get a test, despite refreshing all day. Then 3 days for the results. By which time, symptoms had gone and he was better.

Test Saturday morning in a large London centre. Results 22 hours later.

GreenGoldRed · 28/09/2020 16:17

55.5 hours and a negative. Hurrah.

Negative presumably?
BatShite · 28/09/2020 18:26

Yes negative luckily. if it had been positive, the amount of people who would have been affected by the time he found out, is..scary.

Whatapickle78 · 28/09/2020 18:26

27 hours later ours have just come back negative which is a big relief. I am just feeling rotten with a different bug I expect, and DH still snotty and hot.

27 hours is pretty good, but then cases are low where we live so less strain on the testing?

I just got the text to say my test was negative- phew!
53 hours after the test, which I have to say was easy to get where I am (central SE and lowish number of cases)
Also to reassure everyone, the staff at the drive in centre I went to were lovely and the test (self administered) wasn’t too bad at all, not the horrible experience I had heard about and was dreading.

Still waiting on mine. We are at over 100 hours and are starting to assume they have been lost

MayFayre · 28/09/2020 22:44

Got mine today - negative. 50 hours.

ShouldWeChangeTheBulb · 29/09/2020 14:56

97 hours and still no results here....

ScatteredMama82 · 29/09/2020 15:01

Tested Friday 2.30pm, results by text Sunday midday.

ShouldWeChangeTheBulb · 29/09/2020 15:01

@BatShite that why you are supposed to lockdown while waiting for results.

KTD27 · 29/09/2020 15:05

We are on hour 55 now. Both kids and us going slowly insane not being allowed out or to school.

@BatShite why? If you’ve had a test you have to stay home until you get results.
BillStickersIsInnocent · 29/09/2020 15:29

53 hours here...still waiting

Afibtomyboy · 29/09/2020 15:35

This is brilliant

The overwhelming majority seem to be.... negative!

Of course that’s not ever focussed on in mumsnet is it?!

Benjispruce2 · 29/09/2020 16:17

Yes you self isolate with your household while awaiting results.I will say though that it wasn’t made clear at the test centre or in the texts and emails. Why wasn’t I told in leaving that I and my household must stay home ?

Tippexy · 29/09/2020 16:20

Well, I’d say it’s been made clear for months, hasn’t it? If you have one or more of the three symptoms then you stay at home to isolate, as per the guidelines. The messaging (on this at least) has been consistent!
tywysoges · 29/09/2020 16:22

Test Wednesday morning, result Thursday evening (last week).

mejon · 29/09/2020 16:29

Test yesterday at 10am. No results as yet.

Benjispruce2 · 29/09/2020 16:32

@Tippexy yes you have to self isolate but your household too. I had to google to check.

Benjispruce2 · 29/09/2020 16:34

None of the info from test centre said ‘Now you and your household must SI until you are negative.’ I can imagine many don’t if it’s someone else in their household.

Larsingsong · 29/09/2020 16:37

We got a result at 3am this morning by email, text came a few hours later.
It took 38hrs

Larsingsong · 29/09/2020 16:37

Oh and it was negative thankfully
