How long are everyone’s test results taking?

We are about to go for a family coronavirus test this PM as I’ve developed a cough and sore throat... dreading a potentially long wait Sad

How long is everyone else waiting? Is anyone actually getting results within 48 hours anymore?

Thanks !

Took my brother 5 days to even get a test, despite refreshing all day. Then 3 days for the results. By which time, symptoms had gone and he was better.

Negative presumably?

Yes negative luckily. if it had been positive, the amount of people who would have been affected by the time he found out, is..scary.

27 hours later ours have just come back negative which is a big relief. I am just feeling rotten with a different bug I expect, and DH still snotty and hot.

27 hours is pretty good, but then cases are low where we live so less strain on the testing?

I just got the text to say my test was negative- phew!
53 hours after the test, which I have to say was easy to get where I am (central SE and lowish number of cases)
Also to reassure everyone, the staff at the drive in centre I went to were lovely and the test (self administered) wasn’t too bad at all, not the horrible experience I had heard about and was dreading.

@BatShite why? If you’ve had a test you have to stay home until you get results.

This is brilliant

The overwhelming majority seem to be.... negative!

Of course that’s not ever focussed on in mumsnet is it?!

Yes you self isolate with your household while awaiting results.I will say though that it wasn’t made clear at the test centre or in the texts and emails. Why wasn’t I told in leaving that I and my household must stay home ?

Well, I’d say it’s been made clear for months, hasn’t it? If you have one or more of the three symptoms then you stay at home to isolate, as per the guidelines. The messaging (on this at least) has been consistent!

None of the info from test centre said ‘Now you and your household must SI until you are negative.’ I can imagine many don’t if it’s someone else in their household.
