Covid

How long are everyone’s test results taking?

We are about to go for a family coronavirus test this PM as I’ve developed a cough and sore throat... dreading a potentially long wait Sad

How long is everyone else waiting? Is anyone actually getting results within 48 hours anymore?

Thanks !

Tested Saturday early afternoon and waiting for results. The test was easy to book with lots of available slots at one of three drive through centres within 30 minutes drive so I was hoping for a fast result. We will see!

I gave in and am awaiting a home test for my DD12's cough. I'm meant to be teaching face to face (we all have to mask up) in a university on Thursday, for which I won't get paid if I don't do it, so I'm really hoping we get a negative result by then. She gets a cough with every cold she ever has and it always lingers - she has an inhaler because of it. I'm 99% sure this is just a cold but if I send her in, she'll only get sent home as soon as she coughs in class.

Received a home test kit on Thursday, and caught the last post that day. Results arrived via text and email last night at 19:30.

Same here - child tested early pm Saturday, no result yet so all stuck here in the meantime!

That was a drive through, London Borough. There were several hundred tests available at a choice of 3/4 places

Sorry about your positive results @Eastereggfan and I hope you all feel better very soon Flowers

It seems like a pretty mixed bag with test result timings doesn’t it? Maybe yes it does just depend on area. There are not too many cases in our area yet and it was easy to book tests so things probably look different elsewhere.

Really sorry to hear about all the key workers with delayed results. I hope they sort out the Key Worker test system soon.

So many people not saying their result

I suspect.. massive majority are negative as otherwise I think you would say!

Dd was negative. I didn't say as the OP only wanted to know timescales.

We are now awaiting the results of ds's girlfriend's best friend at school.

He got tested yesterday. If he tests positive ds's girlfriend will have to isolate for 14 days which puts a theatre trip in jeapordy for us.

@Afibtomyboy mine was negative. I was expecting that. I was asked to go by the DoH through the Zoe app. Didn’t have classic Covid symptoms, but had others (sore throat, headache).

DS still waiting for result 52 hours...

89 hours and finally got DS result - negative.

However, they text me the results of another person - a child aged 12 instead. I googled the health trust stated on the text and said I think you’ve made a mistake. The woman was apologetic and looked my DS up on the system, and found his negative result.

No idea where they got my mobile number from as it was DH who organised the test and they had his number, but the text was from our local health trust. DH now has the text result for evidence. What a mess Confused
