How long are everyone’s test results taking?

We are about to go for a family coronavirus test this PM as I’ve developed a cough and sore throat... dreading a potentially long wait Sad

How long is everyone else waiting? Is anyone actually getting results within 48 hours anymore?

Thanks !

It would be interesting to know if the tests were positive or negative as well as the turn around time.

Afibtomyboy · 27/09/2020 12:29

Op you are wasting tests

A “family trip” to testing is plain wrong.

You are showing symptoms. You have the test.

vodkaredbullgirl · 27/09/2020 12:32

Every test ive had done, they all been negative.

Losing · 27/09/2020 12:32

Been waiting since Thursday AM.

Attempted to chase up the results today only to be met with an automated message. They are no longer chasing up results due to call volume and if I don’t receive a result after 72 hours then I should carry on isolating for 10 days after symptoms started.

Regretting ever having a test now as I am pretty sure it’s my usual asthma cough I get after a cold.

Losing · 27/09/2020 12:35

@ItWasTheBestOfTimes can I ask what number you called for the help centre? Was it 119?

Coffeeandcrumpet · 27/09/2020 12:41

If you call 119 and go through the question about a test but rather than the option to chase results they will flag up that you haven't recieved your results.

ScoobySnacker · 27/09/2020 12:50

Home test Tuesday posted 4pm.
Tracking showed it arrived at the lab Wednesday 945am. Test results Friday 8am.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 27/09/2020 12:50

Test 9am Friday. Results 11am Saturday.

Losing · 27/09/2020 12:55

@Coffeeandcrumpet I’ve just done that, thank you.

I had a test receipt card and they had scanned my barcode but apparently my test wasn’t registered? She’s done that now and sent an email through to the lab? She said hopefully I should get the results within a few days now.

Losing · 27/09/2020 12:59

And they’ve just come through!

Negative! 🍾

ItWasTheBestOfTimes · 27/09/2020 14:03

I’m still waiting for DDs, starting to worry I’m not going to get them and then she will need to continue self isolating until Thursday. It really isn’t good enough, she’s in reception and has only been in 3.5 weeks. She’s missed 6 days already and has needed 2 Covid tests, she got a cough on her second day at school so they sent her home. That went away and then on Monday she started with another dry cough. For this to work there needs to be a much quicker turn around time.

MayFayre · 27/09/2020 15:13

Had one this time yesterday and still waiting.

Northernsoullover · 27/09/2020 15:17

I'm starting to think that coronavirus testing is turning into a day out for some people. Please don't test unless you have symptoms. Even if your family member has it. Negative doesn't mean you won't go on to develop it or that you can stop isolating.

Afibtomyboy · 27/09/2020 15:52

@vodkaredbullgirl

Every test ive had done, they all been negative.
How many tests have you had?!
SurgeonsWife82 · 27/09/2020 16:01

Tested 9 am Friday results 12 noon Saturday spa bout 27 hours later

SurgeonsWife82 · 27/09/2020 16:02

Just wondering, can you track through the barcode on the form they give you, to see where it is up to

Thisischocolate · 27/09/2020 16:15

DS(5) was tested on Thursday and we are still waiting for the results.

DH rang them to chase and apparently there is a problem with accessing the system and none of the weekend staff can sort it out - told we have to wait for IT to look into it on Monday. We are so annoyed - IT should be on call 24/7 for any system that holds Covid test results. Looks like it will be going into Day 5 of DS being off school, and is off work. It’s just a shocking mess Angry

NB we had it done via a keyworker priority line so this might be different to standard testing

HelenaJustina · 27/09/2020 16:23

70 hours for two teachers at work this week.

CaptainBrickbeard · 27/09/2020 16:28

Tested Thursday with a home kit, still waiting!

SurgeonsWife82 · 27/09/2020 16:39

I wonder if different areas are taking longer

GreenGoldRed · 27/09/2020 16:46

@SurgeonsWife82 I’d also be interested to know if testing times slow done over weekends?.

I was tested on a Saturday - 4 days for a response. My DS tested yesterday am (32 hrs ago) no response as yet. Friend went to same site on a Tuesday response in less then 24 hrs.

@ItWasTheBestOfTimes Er, negative test or not, she still has to isolate. Symptoms can appear on the very last day of isolation, that’s the whole point!
fluffedup · 27/09/2020 17:30

I was tested at a walk in centre on Friday evening and have just got my results.

Hedgehog44 · 27/09/2020 18:44

Less than 24 hours for us.

kimlo · 27/09/2020 19:26

We are on hour 52, still waiting. 119 has sent am email so I'm sure that will sort them out Hmm
