How long did your test results take?

I had the test at 12.30 Saturday lunchtime at a drive in centre and still nothing. They actually told me they should be back in 24 hours (though I was skeptical of this) but now I'm worried the test may have got lost.

Has anyone else had their results later than 48 hours?

@BlueGreyGreens I hope the private test gives you a quick result. My daughter is way over the 5 days of symptoms. It's going to be a tough winter with all these bugs and all non corona related viruses. I'm dreading it.

BlueGreyGreens · 24/09/2020 09:50

Will be interesting to see how fast the private turnaround is. Presumably they are inundated with tests in their lab too. If it proves successful I'll be getting another to keep on standby I think, but will see how this one goes first.

Fingers crossed that your results do come though.

BlueGreyGreens · 24/09/2020 17:26

Got our negative result in the end. 94 hours.

BlueGreyGreens · 24/09/2020 17:26

Best of luck to everyone else waiting.

Ammari515253 · 24/09/2020 21:49

@BlueGreyGreens I'm happy you finally got your results. 94hrs is a pretty dismal amount of time. We are still waiting...

I had to pick up poorly Ds From school as he had a sore throat and felt sick on Wednesday morning while Dh tried to book one on line at the same time as he thought he’d lost his sense of taste, Dh couldn't find anything available at all but Ds and I drove round to the drive through test centre on recommendation from school and got seen straight away. We got tested around 11.30am Wednesday and got the (negative) results by 6.58am Thursday. Dh regained his sense of taste by the tine we got home Hmm
We’re in Cumbria and other people round here haven’t been able to book tests online but have been to drive throughs instead and not even had to wait. The whole thing is a colossal fuck up. Ironically Dd had a test two weeks before as she was randomly invited to as part of the governments programme to test the wider population. I wonder how many tests were wasted on people like her and my in-laws who where also asked to take a test despite never having been out and never showing symptoms.

Tested yesterday and result of negative came through this morning. Seems strange to be relived I have a chest infection, but at least it’s not covid. Still wheezy and can’t breathe properly!

Test for my 2 year old at 8am yesterday, negative result came through at 3am this morning. Pleasantly relieved. We are SE London.

Ammari515253 · 25/09/2020 15:36

@dinodiva that's great, what a quick response. Does anyone know if booking a test is any better/quicker? We took 3 full days to actually get a test and the system crashed so many times in the duration of us trying...

DH had a test in Kettering Thursday morning and we got the results at about 8.20 this morning - pretty much dead on 24 hours.
We then had a mad panic rushing round to get everyone ready for work / school.

Tarararara · 25/09/2020 17:28

18 hours here - SE England. Was most surprised how quick it was!

Bagadverts · 25/09/2020 17:32

MintTpls · 25/09/2020 17:36

forgot to say it was a drive-through test not a postal one

8thplace · 25/09/2020 17:50

Wales. Drive through test centre. Test 9.20 am, result back next day 2pm. Impressived with the turnaround tbh. 29 hours.

Notcoolmum · 25/09/2020 21:27
