How long did your test results take?

I had the test at 12.30 Saturday lunchtime at a drive in centre and still nothing. They actually told me they should be back in 24 hours (though I was skeptical of this) but now I'm worried the test may have got lost.

Has anyone else had their results later than 48 hours?

@AMC8583, I know, it’s crazy.
Both DP and I are self employed, and all of our work cancelled for the last/next few days. We can’t do this every time one of us has a cough!

herecomesthsun · 22/09/2020 17:26

test 10pm on Saturday, courier arrived 10am on Sunday, test came back 7am today (Tuesday). Negative.

Test came back to DS's phone, and we didn't pick up the result however till the afternoon when I got hold of the phone and checked it, so he's not going in till tomorrow.

I thought they were going to email me, as I have had 4 or 5 emails from them about this.

IHateCoronavirus · 22/09/2020 17:31
@IHateCoronavirus you select the option to get a test, then when you get through to someone, tell them you’ve already had one.
The person DP spoke to on the phone earlier seemed pretty clueless tbh.
Thank you Flowers

Zebrasandfairytales · 22/09/2020 17:32

@AMC8583 I totally agree. I can’t believe they are so casual about tests getting lost and then advising people redo, which is just adding to the strain. A hopeless situation. And the irony of it all is that she is much better today! Coughing a bit when she first woke up but apart from that she seems much better and probably will be fine by Friday... so frustrating.

BlueGreyGreens · 22/09/2020 17:48

I rang to chase ours up. Nice helpful guy, but explained at one point that he was 22 and sat on his sofa so hadn't access to any real info.

Apparently the 'chasing up' process takes 36 hours, but we'll probably get the results before they get a chance to chase anyway.

Our tests were 50 hours ago, so not as long as some. Don't think my call will get me our results any quicker.

Zebrasandfairytales · 22/09/2020 18:45

@BlueGreyGreens I feel like we are sat in a metaphorical waiting room!

collywobble · 22/09/2020 20:10

Tested at 3pm yesterday results by 6pm the next day from a drive through test site

AMC8583 · 22/09/2020 20:22

When we took my daughter the test centre had one other car who had come and were doing a test. The people working there were playing on their phones. I think the issue is in processing the results in the labs if I'm not mistaken?

Do the results come by email at any time of day or night?

@BlueGreyGreens I think it's really refreshing to hear some honesty from that 22 year old sitting on his sofa. When I rang the first time to "escalate" my case, I could hear children screaming in the back ground of the call.

whataboutbob · 22/09/2020 21:02

60 hours and counting. Not a peep yet.

KeysDontBelongInTheFridge · 22/09/2020 21:10

Ours took 6 days. It was a home testing kit

whataboutbob · 22/09/2020 21:10

I’m really really wishing I never went for the test. I feel fit as a fiddle today, so does everyone else in my household but we’re all in suspended animation waiting for the result to a test which may well have got lost somewhere . Rationally I understand the logic but it’s frustrating.

Zebrasandfairytales · 22/09/2020 21:52

I know. I feel your pain. Very worried about us losing more than a weeks pay! And worried for families who are in much worse situations than we are...

IHateCoronavirus · 23/09/2020 07:46

I have two teens desperate to get back in to school and one who is building up a barrier to going back.
The little one who got tested (reception) is bouncing around as fit as a fiddle now! The wait is so frustrating. Those of you who have heard what time did you get the results? Any chance before school?

whatnow41 · 23/09/2020 08:27

DS rest was at 2.30 on Sunday. Still no results. DH and I had a test yesterday (Tue) at 1pm. Results through at 6.30am for both of us. We're negative. DS has a mild dry cough but is otherwise fine. We can't just assume he's negative too can we?! FFS.

ChallyCreaks · 23/09/2020 09:30

@whatnow41 I have been waiting since 10.30 am on Sunday for DS (10). The cynical part in me is now thinking positive results in children may not be being reported back/ "getting lost" to keep the figures down in children. But I'm in a really bad mood and getting really impatient with waiting.

Zebrasandfairytales · 23/09/2020 09:54

@ChallyCreaks my DD’s test was at the exact same times as yours on Sunday and we are still waiting.

Like you I am feeling very impatient and very cynical about the whole situation.

Ammari515253 · 23/09/2020 09:55

I've had a name change. :) @ChallyCreaks we took my daughter for a test on Thursday 17th at noon. We are all in a no win situation. It makes it harder that schools and nurseries are asking for proof of of the results of the test, which I understand. It makes our situation even harder...

BlueGreyGreens · 23/09/2020 09:57

I got my negative result early this morning, after 62 hours. Not much further forward though as still waiting on DS's result (tested are the same time). Up to 66 hours for his.

SnapeSnapeSeverusSnape · 23/09/2020 11:19

70 hrs here, have tried chasing but phoneline says too busy and just to isolate for 10 days.

I work in a school and have three healthy dc at home desperate to get back.

Guess not returning test results is one way of either putting people off testing, thus solving shortage problem, or ensuring schools stay open, if my test came back positive my bubble would close, as it is I'm off waiting for a result but everyone else still in. To be honest I think it's intentionally neither of those and the systems just shit.

BlueGreyGreens · 23/09/2020 11:30

It's an absolute nightmare. I work in a school too and cover is already becoming an issue due to people having to get tested. Zero Covid cases so far, just a lot of kids/staff with a regular cough virus.

tigerbear · 23/09/2020 12:00

We got DD’s test back - negative - at 7.45 this morning. Cue massive dash to get her ready and set for school... she wasn’t happy that she’s not getting another 10 days off 😂

lollymad · 23/09/2020 12:18

70 hours and counting!! 2 kids desperate to get back to school, as am I. Checked our cover list this morning and it's getting longer and longer so I'm guessing others in the same situation!

Rang this morning to escalate and the lady was lovely and really helpful but basically said her email to escalation team would be picked up sometime after 9am and 'should' be looked into before 6pm today. 😞

Talia78 · 23/09/2020 12:30

Brighton year yesterday at 1130am

Results today when I woke up at 6am

whataboutbob · 23/09/2020 12:32

72 hours and counting. Rang “ escalation” again but basically all she could do is check test has been registered which it was.

vodkaredbullgirl · 23/09/2020 12:36

Had mine this morning, only took them 6 days was negative. Work in a care home and will be having another test this week.
