How many deaths do you know of?

I don’t know anyone personally who has died of this.
I know people who have tested positive. Both are nurses and both have had really mild symptoms.
I also think me and my partner had it close to lockdown starting. There are a couple of other people I know who ‘think’ they’ve had it too.
But I know no one who has died of it and don’t know anyone who knows anyone who has died of it!

no one I know had died of it.

My district nurse has been very poorly with it for about 3 weeks and it has left her drained. She isolated at home.
One parent was poorly with it for about 11 days. Again seemed to leave her drained after it. I don't know anyone else who has had it.

Friends ExH died, age 50 and prior to covid healthy & very fit. DSIS and DBIL, both in their 50s had covid, him more severely than her, but both recovered without the need for hospital.

All 3 worked in public facing roles.

Amber0685 · 06/06/2020 14:56

I’ve lost two relatives, a cousin and an uncle.

MadameMinimes · 06/06/2020 15:01

I think most of the parents that died in my sister’s school were over 45, but were not elderly people. Of the two parents of our students that died, one was early 40s and one early 50s. We have another student with a mum who, at a guess, is in her mid to late 40s who has been very ill in hospital for over a month but seems to be recovering now. The two colleagues who have been very ill are both over 45. Secondary schools are big communities, our extended community of students staff and then their extended families is many thousands of people. If you think about, it would be statistically unlikely for a large secondary school, especially in badly affected London boroughs, not to have been affected.

Frazzled2207 · 06/06/2020 15:01

Nobody. I know 2 households that have had it, one has a doctor and the other a nurse. I say households because their children were a bit ill too but this was before tests were widely available. Both have been working on the covid frontline.

soundsystem · 06/06/2020 15:03

Someone I know from university's father died from it.

An ex-colleagues father also.

A family friend had both parents die in the same care home.

Littleroundsponge · 06/06/2020 15:06

I know two people who have had it and one passed away, she was in her 80's but had no health conditions.

HairyToity · 06/06/2020 15:07

None.

NeedToKnow101 · 06/06/2020 15:09

3 people who worked at a college in London. I know others who have been critically ill with it.

NC4Now · 06/06/2020 15:09

I don’t know anyone directly who has died but a friend’s father, another friend’s FIL and another friend’s neighbour have all died from it. It’s very real.

I don’t know of anyone who has died or tested positive. Although I live in London so I think a few people at work had it early in to lockdown but didn’t get a test.

LesLavandes · 06/06/2020 15:28

My aunt

HelpMeh · 06/06/2020 15:29

I'm not in the UK but somewhere with less cases. I know of a few - a close colleagues young, healthy sister in law and a number of our company employees.

Kidneybingo · 06/06/2020 15:32

I know of four deaths, my husband knows of two more. Not people we know personally, but we know the bereaved. I know another few tested positive, as does my husband. Know of two or three more deaths in our town.

Deelish75 · 06/06/2020 15:33

I know an elderly lady with dementia who tested positive in a care home and then died.

An old school friend’s mum in her late 60’s who was undergoing chemo contracted it and died.

My old boss, in his early 50’s but with underlying health issues contracted it, ended up in ICU luckily he’s survived, now home and recovering.

DianneWhatcock · 06/06/2020 15:34

No one apart from my friends 90 year old gran however I didn't actually know her personally

frazzledasarock · 06/06/2020 15:36

A close friend in her late thirties with a young family. Her DC went to school with mine.
A cousin of a friend and an aunty of a friend.

Apart from the aunty the other two were young and healthy and no pre-existing conditions.

Also know two people who were hospitalised and pulled thro and my DC who wasn’t tested but doctors said it sounded like the virus. DC went grey and struggled to breathe and I was administering my other DC’s blue asthma inhaler to help her breathe. The actual illness lasted a week with a week prior of back and chest pains and coughing. Then we had months of back pain and diaphragm pain and shortness of breath.
She couldn’t take deep breaths for months or sleep on her back.

The rest of use had low level temperatures for weeks and I had a couple of days of feeling like I couldn’t move at all. This was around the time DC got sick. I also had a month when I couldn’t take full deep breaths and was taking shallow breaths when breathing.
