How many deaths do you know of?

I don’t know anyone personally who has died of this.
I know people who have tested positive. Both are nurses and both have had really mild symptoms.
I also think me and my partner had it close to lockdown starting. There are a couple of other people I know who ‘think’ they’ve had it too.
But I know no one who has died of it and don’t know anyone who knows anyone who has died of it!

None

But since lockdown I know two people who have non Covid bereavementS in their immediate family and I also know two people who have been diagnosed with cancer, one almost certainly terminal

MayFayre · 06/06/2020 13:33

Personally none.

Friends of my Dad was one of the very early deaths.

Theforest · 06/06/2020 13:36

Personally, none, but my mums know of 2 acquaintances that have died from it.

Nonnymum · 06/06/2020 13:40

I don't know them personally but the husband of a work colleague died with covid 19.
I:m curious why you want to know

Hester54 · 06/06/2020 13:43

I have only heard of one in the area, a old ish man, with underling health issues, apparently caught it at Cheltenham races, Nobody near has had it, nobody that went in the minibus has had it, That was the only place outside of the area he went.

UnderTheBus · 06/06/2020 13:46

I don't know anyone (directly or remotely) who has died or had serious complications.

I know 2 people who definitely had it - confirmed by testing. One with mild symptoms and one asymptomatic.

I know 5 people who think they have had it. One was close to being hospitalised and was struggling to breath, but wasn't tested.

megletthesecond · 06/06/2020 13:46

No one. But we have a tiny family and the older members all shielded from very early on.

emmy4 · 06/06/2020 13:46

My brother in law died in a care home eight days after testing positive.

MashedSpud · 06/06/2020 13:47

None. I live in London.

moveandmove · 06/06/2020 13:49

I dont know anyone that's even had it let alone died from it.

Missillusioned · 06/06/2020 13:51

A friend's father has died of it and my 78 yr old aunt is currently very poorly in hospital with it.

Dollywilde · 06/06/2020 13:51

No one personally, but a friend’s father died with underlying conditions.

I also don’t know anyone who’s had a confirmed case personally, but I know quite a few people who are trying to get antibody tests as they’re certain they’ve had it. No one’s managed to get hold of one yet though AFAIK (London).

transformandriseup · 06/06/2020 13:57

I don't know anyone who has had it.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 06/06/2020 14:00

I know if nobody who has had it, let alone died from it.

I have highly vulnerable relatives and live in an area with a high number of a wide variety of care homes. No reported cases within about 10 miles of us.

And yet we are all social distancing, wearing face coverings etc - except for the usual small crowds of young adults / teens who seem to knock around in the same groups they always have!

Tulipstulips · 06/06/2020 14:00

@Bol87

There are 67 million people in the UK, 40,000 have died. That’s 0.06% of the population. I am in no way dismissing a single death. I wish everyone hadn’t happened. It is zero comfort to their families. But that percentage is tiny. And the reason a huge amount of people won’t know anyone who has died. I know a couple but they are distant, friends of friends parents. But I worry daily for my mum who is high risk & my granny who is elderly & not overly well.. I actually only know one person who suspects she’s had it. No-one else! But cases have been low in the area I live in.
This exactly. And yesterday I read that they’re now estimating only 0.01% of the population has it currently. It’s a tiny proportion of the population.
BearSoFair · 06/06/2020 14:04

Three. My friend's Mum, my manager's Mum (used to come in the shop so I did know her personally) and a former colleague. All over 70 but only one had underlying conditions.

cantkeepawayforever · 06/06/2020 14:06

I am very fortunate in knowing nobody who has died.

I do know quite a large number who have had it - 2 colleagues (plus one of their husbands), 2 members of a group (belong to (and their husbands) and at least 6 of the families within the class I teach (some too early to be confirmed, some confirmed). Not London.

raspberryk · 06/06/2020 14:09

I live in a highly affected area apparently, I don't know anyone either. I have heard through friends of friends of a few who have had it and recovered, or 2 who had it when they were on their very last legs anyway and it helped them along shall we say.

GBarmy · 06/06/2020 14:14

3 elderly people from my village have all passed away. A friend in his 50's, fit and healthy with no underlying issues, has spent 8 weeks in ICU, ventilated for 7 weeks, and is still very poorly. My fit as a lop 72 year old mum spent 10 nights in hospital and is still very weak. I think i had it before lockdown, and am waiting for the results of my antibody test. I'm also HCP, so have seen & heard of many many more cases

Bluewarbler27 · 06/06/2020 14:15

No one personally but a friends friend and another friends dad. I have one friend personally that’s had it and was in hospital for 3 weeks. None are in my area though.

Typohere · 06/06/2020 14:20

Bearing in mind the population of the UK is 66.5m and 40,000 people have died then it would be fair to assume that lots of people don't have a loved one/close friend that has died from covid.

In my part of the country the infection rate and number of people that have died is very low compared to more populated areas of the country. I know of a couple of people that had it mildly and a friend of a friend died but he lived away from here.

Locally a care home had a number of people infected and one person died.

Juanmorebeer · 06/06/2020 14:21

Personally 2 and professionally another 2.

Hoohaahoo · 06/06/2020 14:23

I don’t know anyone personally but my DH knows one person. He had heath problems.

borntohula · 06/06/2020 14:23

No one but then I'm not really on social media and don't know a massive amount of people anyway.

CeeJay81 · 06/06/2020 14:27

None. We have had no deaths in the local community.
