How many deaths do you know of?

I don’t know anyone personally who has died of this.
I know people who have tested positive. Both are nurses and both have had really mild symptoms.
I also think me and my partner had it close to lockdown starting. There are a couple of other people I know who ‘think’ they’ve had it too.
But I know no one who has died of it and don’t know anyone who knows anyone who has died of it!

OP posts:

I am in the North of England and personally don't know anyone who has died from Covid. I also don't know anyone who has been confirmed as having had it either.

Sorryusernamealreadyexists · 27/06/2020 04:46

I don’t know a single person who has tested positive or died

NothingIsWrong · 27/06/2020 05:09

My friends grandad died. Except he was end stage Alzheimer's, had a stroke, tested positive on admission to hospital and then passed away a couple of days later from the stroke. Recorded as a Covid death 🤷‍♀️

SabrinaTheTeenageBitch · 27/06/2020 07:54

@Greysparkles Exactly this. Im in one of the worst hit parts of the north east and I don't know of a single confirmed case or death but my husband is a funeral director and at one point in April he came home almost in tears at how overwhelmed they were. This is a man who has worked with 'death' for years. So Im under no illusions to how bad things were. I just count myself lucky it hasnt affected me personally

MojoJojo71 · 27/06/2020 08:00

Two of my friends have lost their mothers. My dad has lost his sister and his best friend. I know of at least 2 nurses that have died in the hospital where I work.

Rebelwithallthecause · 27/06/2020 09:21

Quite a few - grandparents, uncle, nurses and doctors and also a few of the well known people in the local community.
I’m in South East just 20 miles from London

CloudsCanLookLikeSheep · 27/06/2020 09:24

I don't know anyone who died and only a couple of people who suspected had it.

ComeBy · 27/06/2020 09:24

6 people that I know as friends or co-workers have lost 7 people between them.

London.

ComeBy · 27/06/2020 09:27

And I know many people who have had it. Many of whom have now tested positive for antibodies.

I saw this thread when it first went up, the OP comes across as quite insensitive really, almost like “Is this really a thingy? I don’t know anyone who has it”. Of COURSE there are MN-ers deeply affected!

indecisiveness1 · 27/06/2020 09:29

None. Nobody I know who's any ones that's died from it either.

HelloMissus · 27/06/2020 09:47

I know one person who has died - huge underlying health issues.
I also know another person fully recovered.

IamEarthymama · 27/06/2020 10:09

In the local community I have heard of 8 people who have died.
All over 70, some in care homes but 4 had still been active members of local bowls teams.

I had Covid19 end of March early April as did a colleague and her daughter. We are early 60s, daughter is 40 years old.
It was nasty, flu symptoms, mild cough, breathing was affected. I was in bed for best part of a week.
My friend and her daughter recovered over a month but I am still affected
I have difficulty with breathing, GERD, IBS, Brain fog, aching joints etc. It seems to have exacerbated existing issues. I have seen GP, had Xrays, waiting for a scan and to see a rheumatologist.
I am not alone, if you search for long haul Coronavirus you will see many cases.

YukoandHiro · 03/07/2020 04:24

I personally know of two

DioneTheDiabolist · 03/07/2020 04:37

I know of 3 deaths.

And I know of 4 who were severely affected and lived. I recently met with their close family member. She is traumatized by what happened. All 4 were under 50 and lived, but it has taken a heavy toll on them.

BunsyGirl · 03/07/2020 06:10

One death from the virus, one suicide as a result of lockdown.

SierraHotel · 03/07/2020 06:31

I don't know of anyone personally, I'm in County Durham. I only know of two people who have had it, both Nurses working in a hospital who had mild cases.

The80sweregreat · 03/07/2020 06:40

I know 3 deaths from corona , one was my own dad , he was 98 in residential care :(

I know a few people who who had it over New Years ( didn't know it was corona then though ) and one person my dh knows who tested positive last month ( he was very poorly ) and now has anti bodies apparently.

JustaScratch · 03/07/2020 06:42

Yes, I know two people who have died from it and several that have been in intensive care, plus a few that have had milder symptoms.

Apolloanddaphne · 03/07/2020 06:51

I don't know anyone who has had it, never mind anyone who has died from it.

Apple1971 · 03/07/2020 07:09

My partners grandad. He was 92 and had been very Healthy. He wasn’t actually tested so not included in the figures but he lived at home with the family and a week after his dearth all other four members tested positive so it clear what happened. Dad was hospitalised for two days but is back home. Didn’t have normal symptoms - had uncontrollable vomiting and a migraine type headache.

My friends step daughter. She was 32 with no known health conditions.

My friends colleague. They are paramedics. He was 52. No health conditions.

I also know of several of people who have been very ill. They are all relatives of nurses that work with my partner. Be interesting to see if there is any research on health cate workers passing it on to relatives and the impact of high viral loads.

jumblersale · 03/07/2020 07:35

Don't know anyone who has had it or even been ill this year. Do know a nurse who has tested positive for antibodies but hasn't been ill.

SomewhereEast · 03/07/2020 08:38

I don't know a single person who has died from it. A few friends had Covid symptoms back in the spring, but even the 'worst' case only had mild flu-like symptoms which passed quickly. We live in a lightly affected area up north but still have lots of friends down in the south-east, so I'm slightly surprised we don't know more.

SomewhereEast · 03/07/2020 08:41

Actually thinking really hard I can summon upon one friend's sister-in-law's-grandmother. My understanding is that she was in her 90s and already very frail & unwell sadly.

NoisyBrain · 03/07/2020 08:57

80s Flowers

A parent at DS’s school died of it in May. In his 50s, don’t know his health circumstances.

My DSis had all the textbook symptoms in Feb, but couldn’t get tested. She still lives with our elderly DPs and DF was ill around the same time with more cold-like symptoms, but only for a few days. DM amazingly didn’t catch anything from either of them.

The80sweregreat · 03/07/2020 11:19

Thank you noisy!
Will miss my dear dad as his life was cut short even at 98, but i as appreciate that many others have also and much younger than he was too. Being in a care home has risks at any time.
