For all the Labour left wing. He isn’t going anywhere. So many lies were made up, i.e he went up to Durham for a second time, he needed to come out and explain.

If you don’t want to believe it because you want to make this political then go ahead but honestly there is nothing much to see here.

Kier Starmer ( aka mr pursed lips). Does he have any ideas, anything to help with this crisis or is he just a cardboard cutout.

I wish the press weren't so excited about trying to grab DC's scalp & winding everybody up to go out in the sun & get the second wave of infection going. This would have been better left until later.

@glowcat yeah, eventually. And her pal Nicky defended her to start with.

I’ve been trying to understand the frothing about this for the last few days....I understand it even less now

The press just want to bring him down because he doesn’t play the game with them, desperately looking for a gotcha story

Already they are going for “refuses to apologise” when it was quite clear he wasn’t sorry for what he did for the reasons he outline so he didn’t give a fake apology...but did say he expects some people will not agree with him. That seems quite sensible

I lept waiting for the 'I know it looks bad because I fucked up' bit.

Maybe that was in the footnotes. (We all know no-one ever reads the footnotes).

Off to my garden now.

Love the bot bingo answers we are getting here:

  • leave him alone, he was just thinking of the child ren

  • yes it looks bad but we should move on now as no-one cares except half of MN

  • we should leave him be as he is VITAL for running the country as our PM is so shit

Would it have suddenly been okay if he’d said sorry?

Because if everyone is just clamouring for an apology, how very Primary 5 of you.

Hamster. Quite agree. Some people are jealous of his second home, most on this thread are just left wing probably Momentum followers and look how well they did in the last election

Kier Starmer ( aka mr pursed lips

Kier Starmer has pursed lips? The bastard!

I don't care if Cummings went a second time, he never should have gone at all. He is full of shit and should resign instead of clinging on with his desperate scaly claws.

His garden looks massive though OP. Many people might not have space to practice social distancing in their gardens

It's the Downing Street garden, not his own!

A very careful, checked-by-our-lawyers, statement I think.

I thought the common perception was if we are old enough to be on Mumsnet we are too old to still be taking the piss or creating innuendos out of someone's name.

Do you live under a rock?

I have a second home. [so sue me]. i am also emphatically not a labour voter as Jezza's antisemitism did it for me. [so sue me again].

it's the hypocrisy. people do not like hypocrisy. That is all. Especially when people up and down this blessed country have really suffered because they are followinbg the rules. I'm not sure how hard that is to understand really.

I had to go to Durham as my wife may be ill with corona virus and then I may be ill with corona virus and no one could mind our child. Reporter:so you took the decision to travel when your wife had symptoms. Well she didn’t have coronavirus symptoms but she threw up 😂😂😂😂😂😂

I thought I couldn’t see properly so the best decision was to take my wife and my ‘vulnerable child’ whose safety was to the foremost of my mind on a drive to a nearby castle. I felt ill so went for a walk in said nice area then accidentally ended up playing with my child in a woods when he stopped to go to the toilet. You can’t expect my son to not go to the toilet on a 30 min journey when he needs to go. I mean he held it fine for the massive journey from London but not for this short journey. 😂😂😂

I don’t remember when we got petrol 😂😂😂

Reporter: did you ask anyone in London or nearer to help you before going to Durham? DC - well I didn’t think it would be fair to ask someone to potentially expose themselves (even though a few mins ago his wife didn’t have symptoms of corona virus apparently!) when my 17 year old niece who lives hours away offered to help. 😂😂 did the niece have some kind of vision that Mary had vomited and rang to offer help without being asked? Or did he ask them first?

Whole thing is actually hilarious.

Why could no one in London come to give support so that they did not have to leave their home?

Why did no one ask about the wife and mother's birthdays?

Why did he choose to drive to Barnard Castle rather than try out his eyes on the A1 or A19?

Why was he vague about when or whether he'd mentioned the trip to Boris?
