Do we think the PM Is going to allow the rest of us to hang out in our gardens now?

Babymamamama · 25/05/2020 17:21

Why isn't this press conference being held over zoom? Or google hangouts. Oh yes of course the rules don't apply to the politicians.

Babymamamama · 25/05/2020 17:21

Where are the face masks?

fallfallfall · 25/05/2020 17:21

Those with more resources always have more options. As an outsider all I see is green eyed jealousy.

ToffeeYoghurt · 25/05/2020 17:24

Good question. I saw photos in the media of protestors being dragged away by police in Hong Kong. Despite the chaos both protestors and police managed to wear masks.

Forgone90 · 25/05/2020 17:25

"what do you have to say to jenny and Sam from Wiltshire who were both ill but didn't get child care from their parents who live 10 miles away?"... Well jenny and Sam read the fucking rules properly...

DonLewis · 25/05/2020 17:27

What are the rules about being in private gardens? Wish someone would ask that!

OP posts:
Kitty2018 · 25/05/2020 17:27

So if you weren’t sure you were well enough to drive back from your second home, it was fine to take a half hour test drive to a beauty spot. Wish I’d known that before

Babymamamama · 25/05/2020 17:30

If they were genuinely unwell what if they'd got worse on route? Or broken down?

LevoMental · 25/05/2020 17:30

I think the reason they are repeating themselves is because we are yet to have an honest answer to any of them.

He has stammered and lied his way through this whole thing and he's a nervous wreck because he knows nothing he is saying is tenable to the situation or the rules. Given what Joe Bloggs on the street has been forced to struggle through to follow the guidelines properly without the resources and comfort Mr. Cummings has at his disposal, it's laughable that they expect the public to accept his actions as reasonable.

fedup2017 · 25/05/2020 17:32

I cba with it all. Has he been a bit of a dick- Yes probably.
Is he an elected official. No
Why the fuck are we wasting all this energy on trying to hang him out to dry??
Why aren't we holding the government to account. The press should be asking about the track.and trace app and it's safety and who gains from us using it, or about what the fuck we are going to do about the economy, or what's happening in the NHS with everything apart from covid work being put off or the crisis in dentistry..... Etc etc etc.
Instead we seem to want a pound of flesh from Dominic Cummings... Burn the witch!
If you don't agree with it then we hold then to account at the ballot box, because that's who representational democracy should work and not A black mirror style popularity contest in the daily mail

Babymamamama · 25/05/2020 17:33

How was he allowed to go back to work? If his wife was ill surely he should have self isolated for 14 days to check for emerging symptoms.... wasn't that the guidance?

Sparklfairy · 25/05/2020 17:35

I have no idea why he couldn't WFH using TEAMS or the phone like everyone else has had to do instead of all that bollocks of being needed back in London...

Because he's so very special and important, didn't you get the memo? Grin

greathat · 25/05/2020 17:37

I think the fact they've said Boris didn't know about is that start of him trying to keep his distance a bit. He can see this has alienated a lot of people

TeaForTara · 25/05/2020 17:37

Why the fuck are we wasting all this energy on trying to hang him out to dry?

Because he is de facto running the country as Boris relies so completely on him.

DonLewis · 25/05/2020 17:37

All that's missing is Pimms.

OP posts:
mum2jakie · 25/05/2020 17:38

He's trying to bore us all into submission...

PicsInRed · 25/05/2020 17:47

My observation is that he doesn't appear neurotypical. It's the giant unsaid elephant in the room.

DominaShantotto · 25/05/2020 17:49

That thought had definitely crossed my mind @PicsInRed

lilgreen · 25/05/2020 17:50

He’s made it worse. Testing his safety to drive with his wife and child on board! Hmm
Driving 270 miles was ok because he didn’t know she had covid. Oh so why did you need to go at all?

SapatSea · 25/05/2020 17:51

He shouldn't have been travelling at all with an ill wife in the car, as sson as she showed symptoms they all should have gone into lockdown at home. No excuse for his travel. Beyond belief. He says he didn't wnat to put anyone at risk by asking for childcare help in London but thought the answer was to drive 260 miles with an ill wife and symptoms himself and thought it was fine to ask his 17 year old neice to put herself at risk, to put paramedics and their families and colleagues at risk to drive about to the hospital, to Barnard Castle etc whilst ill and put others at potential risk if he had an accident which if his eyesight and nausea was so bad he was at definite risk of an accident. I call BS

Did the security services/police not know what he was up to, what did they have to say about it. Why didn't he ask for a CoVid test even if he wasn't on "the list".

Was this the best 10 DS advisors could comeup with to excuse DC's actions given they knew this was rumbling away for the past few weeks and that the media would run with it?

Didkdt · 25/05/2020 17:51

I thought the common perception was if we are old enough to be on Mumsnet we are too old to still be taking the piss or creating innuendos out of someone's name.

shouldisay · 25/05/2020 17:51

Go for the garden OP...it'll be lovely 😊. I'll come to your press conference and ask about your garden.

B0bbin · 25/05/2020 17:51

His garden looks massive though OP. Many people might not have space to practice social distancing in their gardens.

DominaShantotto · 25/05/2020 17:52

You must be new here.

lilgreen · 25/05/2020 17:52

Yes he called an ambulance in Durham. Paramedics exposed to London Covid!!!!
