Do we think the PM Is going to allow the rest of us to hang out in our gardens now?

This is the man, the unelected, political ‘advisor’ who has been part of the emergency response to coronavirus. Who was there at the meetings with the elected politicians and the scientists and whose concern for the optics of a lock down lead to delays that cost lives.

DonLewis - I hope you're allowed friends in your garden soon 🌷

I don't even have a garden - I want to steal No10's garden.

I think he did well. I think the way he's explained it, it's far more understandable.

We need to move on.

I like the bit where he said he made his own judgement calls based on his individual circumstances. The whole point of the guidance that he helped write up was that no-one was supposed to make judgement calls- they were just meant to follow the rules- for the greater good.

Anyway- the whole barnard castle driving 30 miles to check he was up to driving and could see properly bollocks sounds like another version of 'I was at a pizza express in woking and i have a medical condition that measn i can't sweat'.

I thought Cummings was supposed to be a genius spin doctor. He comes off as a wet blanket and a bumbling idiot.

Benadict Cummberbatch made him out to be much sharper and cooler than he is.

If you had sight difficulties, getting into a car sounds risky 😂

Don't know whether I believe DC or not. Is he an arrogant Bstd who flounced the rules as he is above them or is he a man who panicked at the thought of him and his wife becoming seriously ill and his child being alone? We will never know.

One thing I do know is that he is a genius, possibly an evil one and right now we don't have any other option but to play out the route we have gone down and if we ditch Dominic things will get worse, not better.

So...I won't be baying for his blood. Possibly when this is all over, but not now. It's not in our best interests. People should have the common sense to know how the virus spreads now and holding their own counsel on the risk and what they do.

He could have shown some humility, apologised for the fuss and gained some popularity. It would have been easy, and story-over, so why not?

Not that great a strategist!

Ah, I'm sorry for anyone without a garden. I wonder if they'd open up No. 10s garden for those in that situation? Armed with questions, of course.

So having made the whole idiotic trip for the sake of 'his young child's safety', he then decides to test his dodgy eyesight by putting said young child in the car and driving half an hour up the road. FFS.

I know I was getting deja vu of the Randy Andy interview.

Why didn't his wife just drive. Why was the kid in the car is he wasn't 100% sure he was safe to drive.

I listened to the statement and many of the questions, and I don't believe he should resign.

What is gobsmacking is how many people have twisted what he has said or have ignored swathes of it so that it matches their view.

Everyone was being told to stay at home. People died alone in hospitals and care homes because distancing regulations meant their family couldn’t visit them. People couldn’t attend the funerals of those loved ones. Anyone with symptoms was supposed to self isolate.

He chose to travel over 200 miles with a family member who had the virus. Then he decides, in the middle of lockdown, to go on a 60 mile round trip.

Oh gosh I really could not care less.

No one gave a tiny shit when Scotland’s CMO and a police chief did exactly the same thing.

The baying mob is bored now and thirsty for blood.

No I heard his account and make my decision on that, it’s actually worse than before. He has a terrible lack of judgment.
