Do we think the PM Is going to allow the rest of us to hang out in our gardens now?

it's the hypocrisy. people do not like hypocrisy. That is all. Especially when people up and down this blessed country have really suffered because they are followinbg the rules.

THIS ^

I am a lay minister and lead funerals.

I have seen some blooming heartbreaking situations - people not able to visit sick relatives, tormenting themselves that their mum/dad/child died alone and in great physical and mental distress. People having to socially distance at the creme when all they want is a hug etc

And then this tosser comes out with all of these dodgy justifications . . . whatever he has on Boris must be throw-away-the-key serious..

I think he's coming across very well and i think the media is showing their worst side. I'm a lefty btw.

Did we watch the same thing? Confused

I'm a lefty too, though also a little ambidextrous.

The man is a hero who is single handedly saving the NHS. Anyone else who feared their eye sight was failing would have wasted their optician’s time, but he did the sensible thing and went for a drive to test things out for himself. If anything he didn’t go far enough: anyone who feels physically unable to drive should do best out of three because if you kill a pedestrian on the first try it could have been a fluke.

GreenTeaMug · 25/05/2020 18:29

No pedestrians boo. They were all staying at home.

tut tut.

I had to miss the end because doing DCs tea. DH has just told me he said that he was 'using his judgement' and that there was a clause in the regulations that said this was ok. Is that actually what he said? Could we have been 'using our judgement this entire time?!'

Report
User24689 · 25/05/2020 18:31

Also I've just googled for an actual document showing full regulations of lockdown and can't find one, just the most recent update from may. Just have the tv broadcast and the letter stuck to our pin board which clearly says stay home and says nothing about judgement

Report
SkyesBackPack · 25/05/2020 18:32

Tbh I didn’t watch it. But it generally feels like this is the beginning of the end of lockdown.

Just because he has made a cock up doesn’t mean it was ok, but it does change the logic going forward. I wouldn’t be happy if I had a relative die alone from this. I wouldn’t stay away if my mum was ill going forward if I could get around it. If it’s ok to him to pass the virus into his kid and elderly parents surely nothing else can be held up to that defence? Because let’s fave if he was so ill from coved that his parents had to step in and care for his kid who would have been exposed, and that’s ok, nothing make sense anymore?

I ask myself the following question:

If my partner and I have a young child, what would we do if one of us got ill? Would we

A) Self isolate and stay at home, waiting to see if we have C19, and how bad might it be, after all, government guidelines say most people only have mild symtoms

B) Contact local friends/ family to see if they could help in the event that worse becomes worst

C) ask non local family members to consider driving 260 miles,if the worst happened, to take the child

Or

D) put your small child into a car with one person who is already ill, and another who has been in contact with a person who has tested positive for C19.

Guess which one of the above I would not do.

I'll caveat this with the fact that I don't like Dominic Cummings, I think he has far too much power and influence for someone who isn't elected. I don't think his account unearthed some great unsaid side to the story to make us all stop and think again, certainly nothing that made me think he should keep his job. There are some questions that I would have liked to have seen asked - 1) Why are you late to this press conference? 2) Did you report to the police that you felt unsafe/ harassed in your London home? 3) Remind us why the government issued the advice not to drive during lock-down? 4) Can your wife drive? If she can then no need for the 30 minute 'test drive' out to the castle on her birthday. (who tests their eyesight with that kind of journey anyway) surely if he became unwell as they all drove back to London she could take over? If not what was the plan after you got to the castle if you couldn't see to get back to Durham? Given you've said you can't get taxis? 5) So you're saying whilst floored with Coronavirus and supposed to be isolating you drove to a hospital to pick up your son? How fit to drive were you at that time? Wasn't there anyone else (you know the people you thought you could get help from) that could have picked them up? 6) Why do you keep quoting updated guidelines and not those that were there at the time? 7) If it was always the government's intention for all of this to be guidelines and for the public to make up their own mind if they had young children then why wasn't that made clear to parents? 8) If all of these guidelines are just guidelines and not law then why are the police allowed to impose fines? 9) you said that your wife lied in her articles about your location for 'security reasons', did you tell her to lie or was it her idea? And if it's okay to lie for that reason, is it okay to lie to keep your job?

This seems to be triggering my infidelity PTSD. I'm not joking. Is that possible?!! 🥺

I'm actually feeling anxious about having been betrayed. By Boris.

He had form but I never imagined he didn't love us. But now he's stood up for DC and basically we'd made every sacrifice for him, but he's betrayed us.

I'm having flashbacks etc. Feel like a 2-yr-old.

Omg. They are sooo fucking with us 😥

@heartonastring forgot to add quote marks. That was an excerpt from an article in guardian written by an Ex labour MP. Sadly she was ousted ( i think) in the 2019 election as that constituency voted Tory. Humph.

I want to know what car he drives. It must have phenomenal fuel efficiency. He seemed to be saying at one point that he did all of that driving on one tank of fuel because he never stopped to fill up.

I worked that out to be around 580 miles.

Isn’t Dom Cummings the one that’s trying to sort public services, including replacing the 20 thousand police officers that have been lost?
Isn’t he known for getting things done and it being a yes man?
