Why can't he just answer a question straight?
And also if you have children did he just suggest you tell your employer and stay home? That is not going to go down well!

We'll be playing whack a mole with the virus, yeah Boris that makes me feel so much better

TheLadyAnneNeville · 11/05/2020 21:40

Because people just hear the posh voice, the long words, a bit of Latin and immediate start tugging the forelock. I really enjoy Keir Starmer’s delivery. Not for nothing a lawyer.

mummmy2017 · 11/05/2020 21:44

If we only go to work and come home, then the group we could infect or get infected by stays small.
But if you get told you can see family your adding many more groups of people who can pass the infection.
If you work with ten people in an office and each person has 6 families they interact with 3 people in each family your suddenly going from 30 people in your infection group with just work together to about 1000 people who have seen family and within interactions could pass the bug to you.
Jim your friend from work has seen his mum and mum in law this week.
His brother saw his mum first, after his wife saw her mum, who got the virus from her daughter's husband. Jim and is one of five and everyone saw their mum this week,
They all got the virus and infected everyone the met.
Jim gave you the virus, you took it home to your family, and your mum and your siblings, one gave it to their in laws both are in hospital dying .
If only Jim had not seen his family your sibling would not be cremating their in laws next week.

BGD2012 · 11/05/2020 21:45

It was painful to watch. He is going to face Starmer week after week so that will be an added pressure. Corbyn didn't cause Boris too many problems. I wonder how Starmer will be when Boris gets his Tory panto crowd back in the commons. He likes an audience.

BlackberryCane · 11/05/2020 21:46

None of that pertains to the Johnson waffling point mummy. You can agree with him and still understand that he communicated poorly.

stayanotherday · 11/05/2020 21:50

It was embarrassing. Glad I live in Wales.

mummmy2017 · 11/05/2020 21:52

How can he say the truth, we have no idea, we have to play this by ear, and hope to god we choose the right path.

Fallsballs · 11/05/2020 21:54

Ah mummy2017 - time to bugger off and make Boris his supper

chomalungma · 11/05/2020 21:54

I wonder how Starmer will be when Boris gets his Tory panto crowd back in the commons

I wonder when that will happen?

Johnson is fully exposed for the charlatan he is when there isn't a sycophantic audience.

Violetparis · 11/05/2020 22:04

mummy2017 do you really think he did well in the press briefing today ?

mummmy2017 · 11/05/2020 22:08

I think he was a man who knew every answer was a wrong answer .

Violetparis · 11/05/2020 22:09

Is that a yes or a no ?

chomalungma · 11/05/2020 22:10

I think he was a man who knew every answer was a wrong answer

And yet other politicians such as Jacinda Arden seem to be doing a good job at communicating to the public in their countries.

He has been exposed for what he is.

Kitcat47 · 11/05/2020 22:13

I don't understand why people voted for him! He just waffles on all the time!

Roussette · 11/05/2020 22:19

I think he was a man who knew every answer was a wrong answer

Find a right answer then. Stop waffling. Be succinct and concise. Stop giving mixed messages. Stop telling the general public to 'control the virus'.

FliesandPies · 11/05/2020 22:21

I think he was a man who knew every answer was a wrong answer

What do you mean by 'wrong'? Do you mean embarrassing to the Govt?

Snowjive2 · 11/05/2020 22:21

Johnson is fucked, embarrassing and embarrassed on an international scale, on his way out. He knows it, you can see it in his eyes which have shrunk to puffy pinpricks, and more and more people who were taken in by him are beginning to know it. If tens of thousands of people’s relatives hadn’t died because he reached the upper level of his competence when he told us to wash our hands, it would be funny.
It’s not funny at all.

mummmy2017 · 11/05/2020 22:34

Bloke asked about returning to work and child care.
Boris gave the only answer he could, ask your employer and see what they have been able to sort out.
That if you have no childcare tell your employer and you have to stay home.
That as things change you will need to change .

Heygirlheyboy · 11/05/2020 22:37

From the outside looking in, it looks a mess and has done from day one. What is harder to understand is how has he not got advisers and experts to come up with a plan and coach him on the details? And how is he seemingly ignoring other government's MOs, including Ireland, his neighbour, who has laid out a detailed staged plan? He could even have just copied that and done better.

FliesandPies · 11/05/2020 22:42

Bloke asked about returning to work and child care.
Boris gave the only answer he could, ask your employer and see what they have been able to sort out.

Why was that the only answer he could give? Why haven't measures been put in place to address that issue before changing the advice? Telling someone to ask their employer is a complete cop-out.

Employers may have numerous employees who will have the same issue with childcare, they can't suddenly solve that issue for everybody and run their business (in a recession).

GabsAlot · 11/05/2020 22:47

what about the quesiton about people coming to the lake district-didnt answedr just said unlimited exercise is allowed

the places are going to get so busy come next weekend and how can police stop them when theres no travel ban

mummmy2017 · 11/05/2020 22:50

A garden center where everyone works outside is very different to a shop with an enclosed space. Do you expect Boris to list the rules for every buisness.
All the UK has said is our numbers are still too for high to open most shops.
Ireland's numbers are lower, so of course they can plan further ahead, but if their numbers spike, then their plan becomes defunct.

Everytimeref · 11/05/2020 22:52

Bloke asking about childcare. No sorry your children won't be included in the current arrangement for school or yes they can be. Not that difficult.

Instead waffle waffle waffle.

Boris is populist. Like Trump. He hates to be the bad guy and always needs a fall guy. And the public are being set up to be the fall guys. Look general public I told you to be alert and you didn't listen, now we have a second peak.

Heygirlheyboy · 11/05/2020 22:53

Yes but Ireland planning for reopenings being later and stricter, despite lower numbers and a lot more testing. So that argument doesn't hold water. And no the plan will not be defunct, it will go back a phase until numbers decrease, v straightforward.

chomalungma · 11/05/2020 23:00

The person asked a question about childcare and work

A word salad followed.
