Why can't he just answer a question straight?
And also if you have children did he just suggest you tell your employer and stay home? That is not going to go down well!

@The80sweregreat I think and hope that after all this perhaps people might want a bit more substance than slogans

Ffs. He's the Prime Minister of the UK. He's not some wet behind the ears student in his first job.

It's honestly frightening that you are making excuses for him.

He's been proven to be lazy and a liar in every job he had. Was he a bully when he arranged for the journalist to be beaten up, when he wrecked restaurants with his mates, when he made racist comments?

I get that you don't want to confront the facts of what you've voted for and supported. It must be devastating to realise that you've been well and truly hoodwinked.

I hope he's going to stay well away from slogans The80s, like you say they're a tory thing so it's better for Labour to emphasise how different they are.

I think the piece de resistance, the jewel in the crown is the vomit coloured, work experience project slogan board though.

HR would be managing Boris Johnson out of my company.

I'd seriously question any HR department that didn't take this approach. In any other job he would have been out of chances years ago.

Sir Keir Starmer needs a spin doctor.
A slogan maker.
Put an ad on mumsnet or similar. I'm sure lots of people could help. His a one man band at the moment and he needs a bit of help.
I really like him , but I do feel his former profession may be more of a hindrance than a help.
You need to appeal to the masses to win elections. His been good during this crisis but memories are short!

I'm sick of slogans and soundbites. Look where's it's got America with MAGA.
That should be warning enough.

Report
The80sweregreat · 11/05/2020 20:46

I take on board that people might not want slogans etc but compare the Tory wins next to labour ones and think again!
It's just my musings of course.

I think at this time, the measured clinical approach is just what we need from Starmer.
Maybe different when things are different

@The80sweregreat I do not want any slogans, or spin or any bullshit strategy stuff that's been tested of focus groups. I just want some capable, intelligent grownups in charge that actually give a fu** about ordinary people in this country.

Having the press on your side also helps. Whether they can spin this level of incompetence might be a stretch too far.

Well to be fair to Johnson, he's never pretended to be anything other than lazy, arrogant, power-hungry and entirely without morals. He was quite funny on Have I Got News For You but that doesn't make for a great Prime Minister. What's the betting that we'll still vote him in come the next election?!

Report
BlackberryCane · 11/05/2020 20:57

But don't say he is not intelligent or doesn't understand the situation.

He's not unintelligent, he's obviously bright enough, but I don't know that he understands the situation. It just isn't what he signed up for.

I just read the new report.
It's shocking you can't read and understand it.
It basically says we are going to relax things a bit at a time, wait and see if people are stupid or are willing to do the right thing.
If people are stupid and don't stay alert and instead do things that cause this virus to have a second wave , we will reintroduce lockdown.
Wear a face covering, it helps stop YOU from infecting others. Stay out of crowds, or risk catching the virus.
Stay away from anyone you don't live with.

Roussette · 11/05/2020 20:57

@blackberry. - well said!

BJ has always been a waffling clown. He doesn't even make sense, let alone answer questions. He should be kept off the podium at all costs.

Question is - who would we prefer to replace him. Not Gove or Raab.

Sunak tomorrow -that'll be a slight improvement

I agree we need 'grown up politics' and not voting for journalists but the British public are easily bought!
Sometimes if you can't beat them , join them.
Anyway, this crisis is awful and my heart goes out to people whose lives will never be the same again and those that might lose their jobs.
We need proper leadership but for now we have to work with what we have and use common sense. At least the scientists seem to know what they are talking about.

His own cabinet misinterpreted it earlier today so I'm not sure why we should be expected to know what they are on about. Hmm
