Anyone see him on the news?

Clapping for a few moments for the NHS and then asking the camera crew if they got what they needed.

I was a little disappointed as, although I’m sure it wasn’t, it came across a bit like fake compassion.

I love Keir Starmer. Saw him on question time, I think it was, with our PM - was it yesterday?

Keir was bloody brilliant.

JamieLeeCurtains · 07/05/2020 22:28

Sir Keir doesn't use the 'Sir' title as it happens

bellinisurge · 07/05/2020 22:30

He was awarded a knighthood for being Director of Public Prosecutions. An actual real world job. Not a professional media knobhead like our current PM.

avroroad · 07/05/2020 22:37

Sir Keir will never be Prime Minister. He has all the charisma of a dead fish.

Which is still more than Boris. And he managed.

CommunistLegoBloc · 07/05/2020 22:44

how the heck can you lead a so called 'working class' party and use the title 'sir' ? i know it's his right to do so but it comes across as a bit twatty

He doesn't style himself as that. And are you suggesting that the honours system (much as I dislike it) is reserved for only the middle and upper classes, and working class people need never aspire to achieve?

avroroad · 07/05/2020 22:45

how the heck can you lead a so called 'working class' party and use the title 'sir' ?

He doesn't us the title.

Didkdt · 07/05/2020 22:49

@bellinisurge I think he'd rather hide his CPS achievements under a bushel, least said soonest mended and all that Grin

FliesandPies · 07/05/2020 22:53

So apparently he clapped for the required minute but finished too 'abruptly' for the likes of the Daily Mail. I had wondered what they would find to bash him with but that is truly pathetic

Didkdt · 07/05/2020 22:54

No he clapped and then asked the press if they had what they needed.

FliesandPies · 07/05/2020 22:57

But the did the minute clap ffs. He was being filmed and he presumably had other stuff to do. So what?

FliesandPies · 07/05/2020 23:08

From the DM -

He took part in the weekly NHS appreciation gesture on a live Sky News broadcast but stopped very abruptly at the end of the clap and was keen to head back indoors.

He was joined by his wife Victoria Starmer and they both stood outside their house this evening to take part in the one minute clap.

Redolent · 07/05/2020 23:11

It sums up the sad state of affairs in this country. As long as you pay lip service to ‘our NHS’ and clap for them, you can get away with underpaying them and leaving them defenceless on the front lines. What a nation of shallow fuckwits we are.

NameChangeNugget · 07/05/2020 23:13

He’s not had a good start

user1471448556 · 07/05/2020 23:16

Looks like the full story is that he was trying to look after his own daughter ... but never mind - as long as the right wing press have their angle

JamieLeeCurtains · 07/05/2020 23:21

But he's not in a fridge.

JamieLeeCurtains · 07/05/2020 23:24

Just Sky right wing lies then about a kind dad.

Seetheprettysnowdrops · 07/05/2020 23:27

As has been linked to the actual photographer he spoke to is clear that this is fake news

He also showed another angle of the same shot.

Keir Starmer had made sure his daughter wasn't being filmed but him and his wife were keen to get her back, once the photographer had his shot.

That's according to the person involved

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 07/05/2020 23:27

Also, did he always look like his hand has just been slammed in a drawer but he's trying not to show it?

He does

He absolutely does

(Hopefully he will make a great labour leader and i hope he does well...not Having a pop but he looks EXACTLY like he’s trapped a hand in a drawer)

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 07/05/2020 23:29

But yeah

I agree with see

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 07/05/2020 23:30

Might actually vote labour as long as keir doesn’t fuck it up...

ToffeeYoghurt · 07/05/2020 23:30

Him stopping abruptly. Perhaps he's keen to adhere to social distancing. Leading by example and all that. He lives in inner London. Surrounded by other homes. It's not a quiet more spaced out countryside village.

Lifeisabeach09 · 07/05/2020 23:32

He has all the charisma of a dead fish.

Unlike our previous PMs....

donquixotedelamancha · 07/05/2020 23:58

From the camera man's tweets:

I’m that cameraman he was talking to - he asked me as a way to clear the path to bring his daughter over from across the road. Here's the angle where he speaks to me. As you can see, he heads over the road and fetches his daughter and we cut. A total non-story being whipped up online by people who love to shout 'fake news' but the tweet has been shared hundreds of times, the truth? How far does that go?

At the risk of introducing substance to the discussion, how do people think he did at PMQs?

Humina · 08/05/2020 00:02

So disappointing to see you spreading fake news, OP.

Humina · 08/05/2020 00:04

FliesandPies, why didn't you quote the bit from the DM where it explains what he was actually doing? Getting his daughter back.
