I know this is pure speculation, but any predictions about changes from next Monday?

I think it’ll be mainly go do with people going back to work. They’ll be watching other countries over the next 3 weeks to see if they have a second peak. Just my opinion though! I love the thought of some of the rules being eased but I think it’s too early x

Springhere · 06/05/2020 14:41

I agree. Monday feels far too early to make any significant changes so I hope it will be very minor things.

I want to go to Cornwall, so hopefully I'll be able to go down there and WFH by the beach.

weepingwillow22 · 06/05/2020 14:43

I think it will be garden centres and outdoor exercise allowed initially.

cheninblanc · 06/05/2020 14:43

Ikea are opening, we as a community health care provider are putting services back to normal and possibly small restricted picnics social trips out. Please please no social bubbles where we are restricted to who we pick, that in itself gives me anxiety!

DownWhichOfLate · 06/05/2020 14:52

Where are you living that garden centres aren’t opened and outdoor exercise not allowed?

Springhere · 06/05/2020 14:54

@cheninblanc - the idea of social bubbles gives me anxiety too! I hope that we will be able to meet in small undefined groups outdoors at some stage, similarly to Ireland (groups of up to 4 can meet outdoors from 18th May).

I'd just like to be able to see my sister and parents. As well as my MIL who lived a 1 hour drive away

timeforawine · 06/05/2020 14:57

I'm hoping for being allowed further away for walks, i want to go to the coast to walk the coast path.
Also hoping we can see a small bubble, my daughter misses her 2 best friends so much and also her nanna and grandma.
I'd love nurseries to go back in June so she has a bit of time with her friends and to catch up on learning before starting school in September (or whenever they allow the new intake to start!)

Biscuit0110 · 06/05/2020 14:58

The bubble idea is never going to work, and I really wish they would just stop suggesting it. No one is going to know where to start with creating them. Or who to choose. Ridiculous.

Schools reopening gradually
Outside activity extended
Garden centres, dentists and other non essential shops opening
Expansion of normal NHS work and resuming day to day running of hospitals
Masks recommended for transport and other public places

Thats it I would imagine for now

Delatron · 06/05/2020 14:58

Outdoor exercise is already allowed in the U.K.?

I think maybe some more shops open with social distancing. I can’t think of much else they’ll allow with our death rate as it is. They need to give us plans though. So maybe not much for this week but a rolling review rather than another three weeks with nothing different.

cheninblanc · 06/05/2020 15:01

I won't be able to see my parents they are too vulnerable as one of them had surgery just a few weeks ago, I'd love to see my in laws but when it comes to friends whose do you pick, mine or my dh, my older teenagers? I'd prefer a small under 5 rule whereby we can go outside and mix but not constraiined to who with. So my daughters could meet for a long walk with school friends etc. I really don't want a bubble 😔

SodaSloth · 06/05/2020 15:13

Imagine your having lockdown Sunday late afternoon drinkie poos.. Bojo comes on the telly and tells you you're back to work on Monday.. Bye bye drinkie poos, hello bed to sleep

bloodyhellsbellsx · 06/05/2020 15:18

Shops back open and the non essential travel thing lifted, I can’t wait to be able to go to our holiday lodge and my parents by able to come see my baby. Bars restaurants and events will be a while yet tho I think.

CafetiereCoffee · 06/05/2020 15:34

I would like small independent shops to be able to open. I had to get something from the pharmacy this morning and I passed a light (fittings) and soft furnishing shop. I desperately need (ok, desperate is too strong a word) / I would like my living room curtains adjusting as they were made to measure for our previous house and they are now annoying me as they are too long.

I’m sure I would be the only customer in the shop as they could easily make individual appointments or limit it to three people in the shop the way our village shop does.

CafetiereCoffee · 06/05/2020 15:35

Oh, and university libraries to open again so that postgraduate students can resume their studies

AmyFl · 06/05/2020 15:52

Way too soon for return to work, I think. Hopefully allowed out more though.

Firef1y72 · 06/05/2020 15:57

All I want is to be able to meet with my trainer face to face (we've been training online), outdoors is more than fine, it's what we do usually anyway. I"m autistic, I need some sense of normality and need someone other than my partner and children that I can talk to without worrying I'm being overheard (shes one of only 2 people I had regular contact face to face contact with anyway)

imsooverthisdrama · 06/05/2020 16:06

He's not going to announce on Sunday everyone back to work Monday. Hmm
Companies need time to sort things out , unless it's companies that are literally waiting on Bojo to say yay but everyone else no it'll be a while .

sunglasses123 · 06/05/2020 16:07

Good thread. Garden centres and outdoor exercise are alredy open and allowed. B&Q and Homebase have queues!

I hope it isnt something daft like fishing or golf. Plenty of people dont want to go back to work presumably because they are being paid by the government. This has to stop eventually and its better that a second wave comes during the summer when NHS can cope.

Dont understand Sturgeon. Cannot stand the women. Seems like a massive control freak and clearly wants to do things first and then prove that independence is what Scotland really want. She has indicated that she isnt releasing anything anytime soon.

barbites · 06/05/2020 16:10

Garden centres are closed here (south west)

imsooverthisdrama · 06/05/2020 16:14

Garden centres are not open .
B&Q and Homebase were allowed to open as they were essential - need to fix toilet etc the thing is you can't stop people buying plants and paint etc if open .
Outdoor exercise has always been allowed.

TJH130 · 06/05/2020 16:18

@pfrench

Everyone should go to Cornwall the second the lockdown eases.

MrsWhites · 06/05/2020 16:18

I think Sunday will just be about encouraging those businesses that were never told they had to close to reopen and get a few more people back to work, so construction etc.

Possible garden centres could be allowed to reopen which I would like to see, their industry is being decimated whilst b&m and the range have always been allowed to open. This makes no sense to me!

I would also like to see hospitals with capacity being allowed to get back to a new normal, it is very worrying that people cannot access more routine procedures that are essential to them.

Tinkletwat · 06/05/2020 16:27

When people say outdoor exercise I think they mean golf, tennis etc.
